I've tried and tried to get Daya adopted. The reason she is still at the shelter is probably that she is too average looking- to most people anyway. She is not too big not too small not to hairy not too white not too black... She doesn't have a documented sad story behind, she doesn't have floppy ears hanging on the side of her head, she doesn't have a silky coat or blue eyes. Whatever. Daya is a perfect dog. She has absolutely no behavioral issues, she is people friendly, dog friendly, responsive to training, she sleeps when she is tired and she enjoys a walk or a swim when she is up for it. What more can anyone ask of a dog? Anyway.. She's BEAUTIFUL, I can't imagine her lasting very long. To me she's breath taking. In fairness though, I have never seen a dog I don't like. My heart is sick over her being there for so long.

here in the states it's not about white fluffy dogs, times here have changed. My leg and I love all dogs, we see beauty in every little or big face. We are animal lovers, we can see the beauty under the mange and sadly often than I'd like, burnt animals. The beauty is in the way they look at you. Come on.. dogs with special needs are being adopted and loved/cared. I don't think there's any problem with her looks. She looks perfect. yes the beauty is in their eyes I personally think more before it's in our eyes, wet habe to look at them to see it. There was a time in the states when everyone wanted the white fluffy Doug's and in some areas across this country it's still that way. I don't buy dogs I did once and sadly it was a puppy mill dog I was vey young and didn't know about puppy mill, so sadly the Doug had serous issues with health and behavior, we loved him until he passed. Since then we only adopt and I do some rescue work at the shelter where we have gotten our previous dog and or Channy boy. I do fully understand where Valia is coming from, so dogs seem average. As an animal lover I see the beauty in their eyes no matter if it's a reptile, cat, rabbit, pretty rat or mice and of course dogs. I simply admired all Valia does for the sake of the animals in Greece.
I hope all of the fur babies finds new forever homes and finds all the love they truly deserve God bless her and all of you
I don't think Daya is average at all...she's beautiful. If she was in America, I'd adopt her in a heartbeat.
Sadly, "Average" is the death song or life in shelter plight for many dogs. I wonder what people expect? Average is actually a wonderful trait in a dog! Most are calm, good natured, easy going, don't demand a lot of fuss, trustworthy (you can leave them at home and they'll probably just sleep), ready to play when you are, great company when you just want to sit and read or if you want to go jogging...need I go on? In the local shelter here there are a lot of average dogs and more keep coming in which pushes the older ones into the gas chamber and the cycle continues because people don't want to keep their average dog.
Daya is lovely and seems like a wonderful dog. I'm so glad to hear she got adopted.
One day, they will all have a home, Love, food ,fun and family. For this I Pray.

My Dog looks a lot like her and I can assure you that she is the best that I could have wished. She gets along with all other dogs and humans . Couldn't live without her anymore. The people who will adopt her will be more than happy.

People should know that in Greece there is not a lot of money around. This lady can arrange to have dogs transported to YOU, almost wherever you are so if you want to adopt but are elsewhere in Europe you should get in touch. Any of these furbabies could be yours if you put yourselves out a bit. I have 8 cats or I would be 100% doing it. Please, if you think you can, then get in touch with this wonderful woman. Blessings will rain down upon you like, well, cats and dogs!

If I could afford to adopt a dog from so far away, I would get this one - she would fit in perfectly in my household of one dog, one cat, one person. That is a useless thing to comment, but it is true.

Apsolutely shocking she isnt adopted she seems like a super chill dog that to me seems like almost ideal for being around like kids I would think with her attitude towards noise the worst I could see happening would be eitehr licked half to death or she decides some unfortunate kids lap is a good pillow XD. I so want to adopt her I wish I didnt live in a non pet friendly dorm. Cause I've always been a attitude over looks with pets. To me getting a beautiful dog is just a plus if its already well mannered.
I don't know what people mean when they say "too ordinary looking". I personally think she's very cute and her personality tops it all off. To me, she exactly how a dog should look like, if we want to go into the looks here. I'm not really so much into small and / or puffy lapdogs myself and I've gathered, that those are the kinds of dogs "most" or a great deal of people look for.

Maria Massimigliano we do train them at the shelter. But most strays are very well behaved. They live among people their whole lives and they always have manners
I love all animals, adopted nearly ten dogs from shelter and four cats and birds.......(in italy we do notpay for them and when my maremman dog gave birth we gave them away but we used to check on them just in case???.....they were very nice, and even had pure breed certificate, which frankly speaking we did not care the least we just wanted them whether pure or not, we had also multi mixtures which were so cute and itntelligent and NAUGHTY....they gave us much joy, one even saved my life by licking my leg more times, he was right Ihad internal bleeding which I did not know ...he saved my life in time............

Woman of Substance we try but it's not always easy, especially if they live in a shelter. We have to do that in a protected environment, which means taking them off the shelter, fostering them and finding the right house with the right cats that will be friendly and experienced (because we don't want to stress the cats either). It take time and volunteers are needed so with many dogs it's not always possible. If there is a potential adopter that has cats we test them with cats then.
