i like that he doesn't hide any of the imperfections at the end. you can see the faces with 6, 4, and 18 have imperfections on the numbers and on the faces numbered 15 and 7 you can see imperfections on the dice itself. gives it some character and lets you know it's not some perfect 3D printed object made out of perfectly consistent materials. a person made it out of a stone. cool that it doesn't look perfect.

Fun fact! Topaz is naturally quite clear like this. The many varieties of colored topaz we see in stores is induced using chemical/biological reactions. One of the most common is to irradiate the stones, (This is why if you were to take a Geiger counter into a jewelry store, any colored topaz would register as having a very minimal radiation signal.)

Have you ever considered leaving a half finished die in the stone? After you get your initial flat and finish cutting in the geometry of the die, leaving it in the rest of the unfinished stone and only polishing some of the faces to give a “die trapped in stone” kind of look. It could be stood up as a paperweight/desk bauble and I think it would look incredible

i have never in my life shed tears over a die before but good lord. there's always something deeply touching about watching a brilliant craftsperson at work--the focus, the dedication, the passion. the choice of music certainly helped. clair de lune always makes me well up. but to watch such a beautiful thing take shape, the loving shots of it shining under the lights, felt very special.
the action shots of it rolling at the end are a charming new touch as well. i appreciate leaving it on the 20. it's good luck. got to train it up so it knows what it's supposed to do.

Does this ever get tedious? You’ve made quite a few beautiful dice, do you get tired of the process, or is it more of a comfortable familiarity?
I’m glad I found this channel. It’s lovely seeing your work, and wonderful to see a person making the world more beautiful, one icosahedron at a time! ❤

Yes and no. As I master one aspect of the process I push to improve another. I have also jumped into other aspects/facets of the hobby. Like making CZcams videos. It keeps it fresh for me to keep learning new things.
There are times when I’m doing the rough grind and can be pretty checked out though.
