This has to be my favorite video so far. Andrew, the editor for Hedron Rockworks, came to town and helped film this video. While I had an eye on cutting the die Andrew was capturing amazing footage over my shoulder. I hope you enjoy watching as much as we did crafting.
Angry Turtle the most interesting synthetics IMO:

I feel like a broken record commenting on your videos -- all I ever say is, "AMAZING! GORGEOUS! BEAUTIFUL WORK!" And it's always true! Frosting only the edges of the stars was an excellent idea!
A broken record only shows what it's missing when you play it all.
Letting a broken record play is just a show of how good it is.
A broken record sounds different when it's played, compared to when it was new. If anything, the meaning of the compliment changes over time, whilst still being positive
@@JamesBD05huh? It was never positive and still isn't tho?

That is a vision of beauty! Great design choice on just frosting the stars, and I love the "imperfections" in the ruby. Andrew hit one out of the park in the edit as well. You were not kidding saying this is the best video yet!
Thank you! Cheers!
Off-colored gems are the best. You’re literally getting MORE COLOR and Style
You guys make a great team what an amazing piece and so cool seeing your work in stages like this!
agreed
Awww, I miss the old title. Because this die truly is the most beautiful piece of forbidden strawberry candy I’ve ever seen.
The whole youtube title changing thing is weird
@@TheTuttle99 It definitely seems to work, though. Sometimes I'm totally uninterested in a video, then the title changes and it grabs me.
Andrew's stop motion was hilarious. And, for most purposes this Ruby wouldn't be good but as a dice the bubbles give rather than take away. What a beautiful piece.
I think with the bubbles, its like wine that had just been uncorked, or perhaps, the boiling blood of a berserker!
Blood for the Blood God! Milk for the Khorneflakes!

Oooooooooooh I like this
Coldblood gem from Bloodborne
❤ Blood for the blood god
10:47 LOL the stop motion animation made me giggle. thank you andrew for your excellent service, this was truly the best video yet
he was as majestic as a T posing heavy
I really enjoy working with precious synthetic stones. They're much more affordable, yet the make-up is exactly like the natural stones except with much fewer flaws. Your dice videos (and accompanying music) is always a treat to watch. Thanks for another great video!
in our dead post modern world, great craftmanship shines brighter than any precious metal, and creative passion, more dazzling even the most brilliant gemstone. these skills endure because they are an art, and in spite of corporate demands, will never be replaceable. keep on creating and posting your gorgeous works of art.
Thank you very much
Thanks for watching! Please share this video if you love the channel. It is by far the best way to support the growth of the channel.
Thank you! The music has always elevated the amazing work done on this channel...one of my favorite parts.
u rock andrew
I would seriously consider using a multiband compressor. The music and dialogue are all over the place.
Bro be cooking on them edits
Lovely editing Andrew! May i ask what editing music site you use? I’m always looking for good classically based music for my videos. Thank you!

you son of a bitch 😆you got me with that one

The brightness of that fluorescence is insane. Imagine making an important roll at the table, like game changing roll, and the DM cuts the lights, turns on an overhead blacklight, and rolls with the ruby die. I can't even imagine how awesome that would feel.
The star reminds me of a New Year ornament. I’m from Russia, and it’s still fairly common to put a red star on the top of the fir tree when decorating (instead of something like an angel - religion being banned for a while there in the 20th century). When the light was catching the facets and the red star glowed it reminded me of when I was a child, looking up at the decorated tree in anticipation of presents. Beautiful.
Must be Terrible being from Russia.
@@sforza209 I can’t tell if this is meant to be derogatory or genuine comment.
I'm pretty sure this is what Abu tried to steal from the Cave of Wonder that got him and Aladdin trapped in there.
Yo for real it does😂
If that's true than we've been too harsh on him.
A sapphire one would look absolutely bonkers.
Technically Ruby is a sapphire, but I agree that a different color one would look really good.
And a garnet one would look even better
The bubbles coming to the surface in places gives it such an amazing look. I'd want to hold it constantly
Lemme just say the music choices on these videos are more compelling than many many mainstream movies and tv shows and that's amazing proof that you two are a great team. Thanks for another great vid
When people hear Synthetic, they may think Fake. That's not Fake. It's an actual Real Ruby. And you desperately need to find a blacklight and shine it on there. You will understand why the moment you do....Make a short of it when you do!
Yeah agreed, this is also why I'm not a fan of the "natural" moniker.
I wish people would realize that synthetic actually just means "real without the slave labor jewel companies use to mine 'natural' gems"
It's funny because I read the wikipedia article about synthetic gemstones two months ago and I'm baffled anyone would not actually try and find out how you can synthesize rocks, I was actually so fascinated by the process I really was about to contact a lab to see if I could see it!
Isn’t the only difference between what people call “real” and synthetic is that synthetic are lab made and natural form naturally but they both basically go through the same process one is just a bit more faster?
@@shuichi28 Yes, but jewel companies have given synthetic gems a stigma, because they cost more to produce, so they have led a very long campaign to say that getting someone a synthetic gem is a lesser statement of love than a natural one. It sucks ass.
Well, I'm sad that I wasn't the one to bring you the ruby, but I'm really happy to see it done! This must have taken FOREVER since it's basically the same material as your polishing compound. Oh, and hi Andrew!
I have to say I'm a little disappointed you didn't show this thing off under UV. Ruby fluoresces brightly under UV and this thing would light up like the 4th of july.
On that note, I do miss the rock facts we got in some of your earlier videos.
He probably didn't know they light up or didn't have a UV light... But now that he probably does know because of this comment, I hope he gets one just to make a video showing off the glow!!
The montage at the end had me glued to my screen like a kids watching Sunday morning cartoons. I haven't been that close to my monitor since I last cleaned it. One of the most beautiful things I have EVER seen, simple insane
I love how you’ve started putting your artisan mark onto your dice! Makes them even more unique and charming!
Awesome. Each time I see these, I imagine someone stumbling across a collection of pure gem die in the future and them trying to explain why.
Ritual purposes of course. Very elaborate ones.
Some form of religious artifact
@@LexYeen I don't know how OP feels, but I'd be afraid to roll one!
Assuming whoever or whatever discovers it isn't in a world where we've stopped commonly making art just for fun, I think they'd be able to figure out it's a hobbyist thing.
It is always a pleasure to watch a craftsman at work both in front of, and behind, the camera. Well done gents.
I’ve never seen a video which used music more effectively than this.
This was the first video of yours that i showed my roommate. We were both gasping and in awe together. And we loved seeing your two art forms coming together. What a labor of love this video was.
God I love some frosting !
Congrats to Doug for that incredible jewel 🤩 and congrats to Andrew for the stunning edit, it really feels like a journey.
So proud to be a patreon !
From minute 0 you had me hooked.
Andrew was right. This is something special.
the craftsmanship is remarkable, but the real beauty is when the love of two interests coincide.
There are videos and there is art.
Thank you for drawing a distinction for all of us.
Well done!
I want a synthetic sapphire d20 like that!! **Take my money!** I loved the video. The die was amazing! Andrew, thanks for all your work on these videos! The songs you chose for this, I could listen to in my every day life.
Ooh wow yea Sapphire would be gorgeous!
I watch a lot of craft and woodworking videos. Something about it just pleases my brain, I can't really explain it. Your videos always scratch the itch deep inside my head. Thank you, keep doing what you're doing.
that's called ASMR. It's a huge category in youtube, you can find a lot. cutting kinetic sand, fingernails tapping, soft scratches on a desk, that sort of thing will create that feeling at the back of our heads called ASMR
REAL same
I'm going to get into the trade soon because of the similar experience I've had
If you are like me, watching an expert build, craft, create and basically do whatever they are an expert at is always fulfilling and enjoyable. It doesn’t matter the craft or if it’s an area I’m discovering for the first time.
Definitely recommend trying your own hand at creative endeavors
10:46 gave me a good chuckle. I appreciate the sudden joke in the middle of an epic and emotional montage, it really does add a unique touch to the whole video.
that's the kind of dice that turns you into a mad wizard staring into the facets for hours on end
If someone had told me years ago I'd eagerly watch a man grinding rocks into dice...
And yet, here we are. Another amazing piece! Well done, both of you! :)
To this day I’m still surprised that CZcams recommended me this channel. Usually I just get rough, but this was the diamond. Keep up the superb work guys!
It was super random for me. I don't watch these types of videos but I saw his first one in my recommended and clicked. Been here sense and I've loved every minute of it. So glad I can see beauty being created with each video.
That is probably one of the most impressive dice you have ever made. And Andrew’s editing of this video was immaculate! Great job both of you
It's so great to see two persons that are so great at their respective works coming together...
This is an epic dice and he absolutely deserves it! Great work!
Thanks a ton!
The videography and the editing on this video were something special. Both you and Andrew do such wonderful work.
The shot of the light slowly catching each facet was amazing
I have watched so many of these videos. I don't know why I torture myself, knowing I can't afford any of this.
Fantastic work. That's gorgeous.
A d20 made from uranium glass would be pretty punk rock.
Wouldnt be able to work on it tho, grinding uranium glass is not particularly clever
I’m working on a huge LuAG right now. It will look very similar to
@@Staroy proper PPE and it should be fine.
@@trebordodge7209and de-contamination of the whole workshop afterwards.
Radioactive micro dust all over the lab such a great idea…
It would look cool as hell, but not worth the safety risks imo. Uranium glass is safe to handle in one piece, but you definitely don’t want to be breathing dust from it.
The beauty of a craft really comes out when someone is passionate about it. You can see and feel your passion. Thank you for the wonderful video.
Andrew’s slow motion capture spin & glide was cute.
I've always appreciated the music in your videos and now I know I have Andrew to thank for it! Good job, guys!
Man I fell in love with your first video I watched because the music harmonized with what you were saying, what you were doing, and the mineral itself so good I shed a tear. Glad you two work with each other!
Just finishing up the video and oh my goodness. I thought rubies were overrated (even though it's one of my favs) but you made me love it even more now. It looks amazing in a bigger chunk than usual gemstones but also with bigger, few faces. And don't get me started with the stars and frosting! I'm crying all over again here!
Amazing! This is a die befitting the attention of Sardior the Ruby Dragon, patron of the gem dragons (my favorite dragons of all). And thanks to Andrew as well.
the frosted edges on the stars are a great idea. i also laughed at the dude spinning lol amazing work
Wow. I SO wanted to skip to the end and see the completed die, but I could not stop watching the entire process. I think this is your best video. Andrew, you do a great job editing. And that d20: what a work of art! Bravo, gentlemen.
Incredible work! The frosted edges on the stars are gorgeous, and the bubbles that make that a poor gem for jewelry make it an absolutely gorgeous die!
I'd love to see a die with the sides frosted and the stars polished, especially something really dark like lab-grown sapphire.
If I wasn't a poor college student helping out my family I'd send you a blank check and ask for a set for my best pals. As I am broke and in college and supporting family, I will have daydreams of the perfect heist with these dice as the purpose in me robbing banks.
I've wanted a ruby or sapphire D20 for ages, and ever since I started watching your video, I thought about saving up to commission one.
Eventually I did luck out and find a small sapphire one of okay quality, which I'm thrilled of even still.. But damn brother, you out-do yourself as a craftsman with every stone you premiere.
I love the attention to detail, the design, the frosted edges are always absolutely gorgeous, and a great idea from Andrew to just frost the stars!
Also the timelapse where you wore down the face was a fantastic touch too. Please never stop making youtube videos, your work is just..breathtaking.
No one deserves that dice more! Keep up the incredible editing!
The air bubbles with the frosted edges make it look great.
Pure artistry. Every time I think 'there's no way he's going to be able to top this', you never fail to bust out something even more beautiful.
That is unbelievably beautiful. Title is definitely correct.
This might be the best one yet. WHAT A STUNNING WORK OF ART. And great to know that is in good hands. I wish the best for You two guys.
The heartbeat in the sound design towards the end was so cool. really neat way to ramp up the tension of the finale. I honestly felt like I was watching the making of a powerful magical artifact and we were unsure if he would succeed or fail. great story telling.
What I appreciate about your videos and this one especially is the time spent working on the video itself as well as the D20. The talent you guys have for both the dice making and videography are next level!
You are 100% right. There are two works of art there.
this felt like a documentary. Andrew did a great job
When I say I was in awe for this entire video. I mean it. The die alone is insanely beautiful and the imperfections make it even more-so. Andrew's editing left me speechless, as well. I've edited videos in small increments and the level of detail regarding key-framing and bringing detail to life in terms of lighting, camera work, and cutting and pasting together bits is ridiculous. Both of you did exceptional work with this one! Beautifully and masterfully done!
This is my favorite synthetic stone you've done. Absolutely beautiful.
Really a great video and massive shoutout to Andrew's editing. As someone who does video editing myself, I can really feel how much time went into it.
Also nice "stop motion", made me laugh ;D
Don't mind me, just sitting here stunned at how beautiful that die is. Truly your best work so far. Bubbles inside it don't take away from it at all
Just absolutely gorgeous. I love the idea to just frost the stars on this one. Some epic shots in this video as well! Well done all around!
Just finished a DnD 5E session with two of my young grandsons, oldest daughter, and my wife. The little guys loved it and managed to make it to the end of the adventure and reap the rewards. This video is a nice way for me to relax after DM'ing. Awesome job on the die. Just straight up wow.
Shoutout to Andrew, love the vids! Thank you for sharing your passion with us!!
Thanks Andrew! Videography on this one is off the charts. Also this channel is why I have a whole playlist of Ardie Son, Aerian and Scott Buckley, etc.
Magical. What a lovely feeling to have second hand pride while I watched you carefully craft this. And the editing was the vessel on which that feeling travelled. Thank you both for sharing.
This might be my favorite die you've done. It's a true work of art! Absolutely gorgeous.
Outlining the stars?! Holy cow. It looks incredible.
These videos never get old. You and Andrew do some amazing work together.
The videos you guys produce are just absolutely amazing. I even got people that don't even watch or play DnD to like your videos, just because they are so easy to get lost in for 10-20 minutes every time. And the outcome of the dice is always incredible. One of the best channels on youtube.
I got a little misty-eyed there at the end. Brilliant work all around. Thank you.
Woke up sick today, but seeing this on my feed made a pretty crappy day into a pretty good day.
what I love about this channel is the synergy between andrew’s editing style and your creative process.
i would compare it to your gem cutting! the raw footage of your mind at work being given its depth through endless care and attention to detail. it is indeed beautiful.
the appreciation you show for your medium and the dedication you’ve put into the process are inspiring to watch! thank you both for sharing it here!
Only frosting the stars looks incredible! What a nice piece of work!
Where can we buy your work? Just having one in my home would tick off a line on my bucket list.
I love all of the video, but this one is especially great.
Keep up the amazing work. Y’all are inspiring with both of your art forms.
Didn't it was possible to tear up during a dice making video... Yet here I am. Beautiful work!
This Chanel is honestly a work of art. The passion everyone has is incredible! Watching your videos is genuinely inspiring and each and every dice has a magical and unique feeling to it! I wish everyone who is part and helped this channel a wonderful day and thank you for sharing these videos with us!
Probs to editor, amazing music and magnificent colors in the video. Absolutely well done!
Ok...This is the "one piece" for my dice collection !
Well, I'll have to find a boat and a crew...
It would be a dream to be able to make one of my videos with a die like this.
Congratulations for this masterpiece!
THE ONE PIECE IS REAL
This is certainly the best video I've ever seen of gem cutting, a true work of art.
Just frosting the star edges was a truly stunning choice...gorgeous work, as always!
So much "satisfying DIY" content out there is silent or overly focuses on quick glamour shots. I really appreciate that you show the full process, both in the shooting and in the editing. The fact that you even show the mistakes and setbacks is extremely appreciated, too 😊
My God... 😳 one day I want to be able to afford one of these... to me the yooperlite and this one were your most beautiful dice so far, thank you for sharing your process
I cried a little bit while watching because of how BEAUTIFUL this video was.
I love the normal videos, but having this in addition is like having my cake and eating it too.
We can just appreciate and enjoy his phenomenal work.❤
Absolutely beautiful ,I hope one day you get the chance to do soemthing green like Emerald, I bet it would be gorgeous!
I cried. Seriously. You make the most beautiful math rocks ever. I just wanna sit and stare at them all day.
As a beginner jewlery maker, and an avid dnd player, your channel has brought me so much joy and inspiration to carry on my own projects. Thank you and great stuff!
Such an amazing video and an awesome 🎲!
Thanks so much!!
i gotta say, these videos make me tear up at how beautiful they are. you and your editor are a great team.
peak. absolutely peak. from one dice maker to a dice master. you are pure inspiration. Gorgeous.
I'm awestruck at the level of effort and care you put into every die! The level of geometry you do for this is beyond me!
oh my god Ruby is one of my favourite gemstones, and this die is absolutely AWESOME!
I want this die so bad!!
Amazing job, my favourite yet. Also, while I had not really ever paid specific attention to it, the editing has always and continues to be excellent.
I love the fact that we can make synthetic crystals. They're such cool material.
Ok wow. You were already creating such beautiful pieces of art but this almost feels next level! And it's so wonderful to see/meet Andrew, he truly has a gift for making these videos next level. Such an awesome team and I am blown away by how freaking cool this looks. And I agree, the frosted stars look phenomenal.
