Snow confusing recycling magpie...

  • Finally, we got a few centimeters of snow here in southern Sweden.
    I left the birdbox with snow...i'll wait and see if the birds finds out how to
    wipe clean along the hole for bottlecaps...

    Do you think they stockpile bottle caps somewhere like their nest or a certain tree? I know woodpeckers do that, I wonder if they’d kind of learn to keep bottlecaps handy for when they want to get some food. A bird bank :)

      Hi. I have seen the birds keeping a single bottle caps for a while, but no birdbank

    needs some sort of snow melting mechanism or a shelter to stop snow piling up on it. could have a low current coil that activates when snow makes a contact connection on the opening.

    por qué son tan crueles?, pobre pájaro el vino con su tapa de refresco en el pico, por hambre, por qué no se molestaron en limpiar la nieve?, el ave necesitaba comer....gente cruel, me molesta, no es lindo ver cómo el animal se queda sin comer, es triste, muy triste

      Era temprano en la mañana y no había nadie para limpiar la nieve. Las urracas son muy inteligentes. Podría encontrar comida de otras formas.

      Why are you so cruel? The poor bird came with the bottle cap in his beak, hungry. Why didn't you bother to clean the snow. It needed to eat....people are cruel, it bothers me, it's not nice to see the animal go without eating, it's sad, very sad

      It was early morning so there was no one around to clean up the snow. Magpies are very clever. They can find other ways to get food.
