  • Short update from my workshop, current idea for training the birds to pickup soda-cans. Don't know if it will work ? I'll test it out during this week. I often use one camera to stream to CZcams, great way for me to document whats going on for . If i make the stream 'public' you can all watch it...we'll see.

Eventually the birds will steal metal from everywhere and bring it to you.

Such a great use of technology to interact with nature! I hope to see more updates soon. I wish I lived in an area that allowed me to make similar inventions.

Yeah way better than the first setup. Also I think the cans are very noisy so the birds got scared around them

Why not change the food for cans to something that's higher reward as it's harder for them to move a can rather than a bottle cap.
How about also, put the cans on an incline and have regular bottle cap food between the cans. When they remove the food the can rolls in and out comes the better food. When they remove the bottle cap food from the next can, it too them rolls in etc etc

You should place the cans on a slightly angled board and as you told feed the nuts automaticly between them. I have this selffeeding gireplace in mind for that. Between the hole and the last can you need a little stopper, over which the birds have to puch the cans. That it should be fully automated.

Have u used crushed soda cans too when teaching the birds? Will they be able to figure out that crushed cans work too?

You might start attracting scrap men, there already pretty nuts so you might want to dispense them beers instead

What if u take a servo connected to a motion sensor that pushes cans into the hole when a bird is around. Maybe that could accelerate the progress of understanding the connection between can delivery and reward.
Nice work btw 👍 im planing to build such a system aswell :)

Yes...thats a good idea, in fact, i have something similar in the CAD-system right now. A really sci-fi:ish vision would be...to show the birds what to do an a video-screen...We both know that it's a simple task to setup...maybe trickier to create the 'instructional video'...

@@LabbHasse I would love to see the video thing. Is there a way to get in touch with u ? Maybe you could create a discord server or something to share ideas and thoughts on this topic.
