  • This is going to be slow going but I want to base my channel on having you guys along for the ride and see the progress... hopefully I can get the outfit out of Arizona to record some of the cylinder boring and crank splitting... how cool would that be... I know I would find it super interesting 💯

    Sick build! A few of them old huskies had the seal integrated into the oil pump housing. All the 200 series did. Definitely built to last and be abused! I can’t wait to see the end result of this one😎

    I had more fun building a race saw than anything else to date. Getting to go all out on something will be a nice change of pace, at least it was for me.

      To me it seems like an 084 would blow the doors off this thing just from cylinder design and displacement... but I guess they are the saw to build for race saws so have to see i guess... the crankshaft and case are built really heavy so im thinking thats the appeal 🤷‍♂️ im definitely excited to see what happens

      @@johnscustomsaws They run good. I was never like OMG this saw us awesome. In their time though I think it was a good size platform for a 100cc. I think the worst thing about them is finding ignition parts.

    Hi would just a max flow and bark box improve a saws performance without porting it?

    • @johnscustomsaws
      @johnscustomsaws  Před 2 lety +2

      Yes... the barkbox has been proven to add .5hp or more I believe and that was on a dyno... you should add a little fuel to the carb if you run a barkbox to get the full potential out of it... I add a 1/8 turn to the L setting myself... also removing the baffle in the muffler helps... the maxflow is not as much for performance in my eyes as it is just a WAY better filter and keeps debris out if the intake and cylinder... debris ingestion is a saw killer man!! I wont even build a saw without upgrading the filter honestly... also a modded muffler helps the saw run cooler 😉👍

    Have you ported or modded a ms362c-m?

    • @johnscustomsaws
      @johnscustomsaws  Před 2 lety

      Oh yes... a few in fact.. they aren't my most popular build but I still see some here and there... 362CM was the giveaway saw on Instagram actually... was a ripper... problem is 462 isn't much heavier and lot more power and 261 is pretty ridiculous after they are built and they are so much lighter... 362 is that saw that fills a gap that isn't really there if that makes any sense at all lol

    Piston rings have slop on mine im not sure what to do about that

    • @johnscustomsaws
      @johnscustomsaws  Před 2 lety +2

      If your ring end gap is out of tolerance with new rings you are pretty much looking at rebuilding or boring and lining I would imagine... im not sure how impossible it is to find a new top end for a 2100 but im thinking its not easy... maybe aftermarket but I really don't like using aftermarket parts... just my personal preference I guess

      @johnscustomsaws  Před 2 lety +1

      who knows man... might go that route... i have plenty of 395 carbs here so if thats the better route i wont fight to make the 3120 carb work... i have a lot of different bigger carbs i just lean towards the big 3120 to try initially
