So many memories of late 90's Canada matches at Varsity Stadium when I felt like I was the only Canada fan in attendance being overwhelmed by the visiting support that outnumbered us.

Mexico and USA have made it to QF on more than one occasion (Not even counting USA's 3rd place finish because that was almost 100 years ago) and Costa Rica got to the knockouts in 2014. They didn't accomplish this by only beating Asian and Oceanic teams did they?

Everything about this team is perfect, the fans, the mentality, the coaching staff, and ofc the players. Concecaf aside we could be a threat to any team in the world in the years to come. Phenomenal performance without 3 of our 5 best outfield players!!!!

I still find defence is sloppy at times. Luckily Milan Brojan has been superb in bailing them out. However, the sloppiness could cause losses easily against top tier teams in the world. If we are hoping to get through group stage in WC (assuming we make through qualification) the defence will need to take another step up.

The game wasn't even on US TV. But i feel sorry for the players. Pulisic, McKennie and the others are good lads. They gave their best and fought to the end, in a cold, cold away stadium. and they get no fucking support from their people.

Incorrect, 1986 is still considered the best team Canada has shown. They made it to the group stage in Mexico so unless this team can do that or better they are nothing more than a flash in the pan.

I remember talking to Bruce Wilson in 1986, x captain of the only Canadian team that played in a final in Mexico, and we talked about how that final appearance could push more Canadian kids to register in soccer programs and actually develop and stay rather than quit after high school ball. Imagine if this wonderful team could make it to Qatar and along with the women's program winning Gold could send inscriptions through the roof. I hope the Feds open their pocket book for development schools like everyone else. As an x ball player myself, I'm super proud of what this team is showing us. Bravo Canada
Slowly, with MLS teams getting a little better, Montreal getting an MLS team, the youth of 20 years ago to today chose soccer more and more, we have come a very long way from 20 years ago
I'm 33, when I was 16, there wasn't much places to go if you were good but not team Canada good, now there is a lot more development available for the kids

I remember when NZ went toe to toe with Italy, drew 1-1 tie and the Azzuri fans were not happy lol. Can’t recall if that was 06. They got eliminated later but had a respectable tournament. I’ll never forget watching the one guy wearing the nz flag, from CAN but went to Uni there, strolling down College St in Toronto the heart of Little Italy, lined with TV patios, then casually turn right straight into the Cafe Diplomatico ground zero for Azzuri fans. Talk about heading into the mouth of the dragon lol

Over the past two decades, I have seen a lot of progress in Canadian football. Especially women's football. as a football lover, I am very proud. Canadian style of football seems to be more follow of an English style. If we get more technical, more shorts, faster advancing, tighter and faster switching, it seems to be more suitable for the physical characteristics of our people.
I didn't really enjoy concacaf matches before but this canadian team is for sure a joy to watch. Congrats Canada from Tunisia 🇹🇳. I hope we meet in Qatar🙏

The most important thing for all the Americas Continent would be unifying Conmebol (South American football association) and Concacaf ( North American football association):
1) It would create a spectacular international club competition, to rival the UEFA Champions League. It would generate a lot of investment and business for a supercharged Americas Libertadores Cup: Teams from Brazilian league, Argentinian League, Mexican League, MLS (USA) League, etc.
2) Unifying Copa America and Gold Cup in a Supercharged Copa America. A spectacular international national teams competition, similar to the 2016 Copa America, but with more teams.
3) If we don’t do this now, UEFA (European football association) will be a monopoly.
4) There would be more Americas teams in the World Cup, And the World Cup qualification would be super fun.

I like the intensity Canada plays with. Playing with that energy can make up for a lot of short falls. I think they can cause a few problems for unsuspecting teams in the world cup.

Buchanan and Johnston hadn't even made their debuts yet and we were debating if we could get past Suriname and Haiti (real ones remember how much shit Suriname fans were chatting)
