Congratulations team Canada. Played great defensively and allowed very few quality chances despite team USA being in the attacking end for most of the game. As an American this game really showed our lack of scoring touch. Either a coaching change needs to be made or major strategy changes must happen if team USA wants to make the World Cup.

Coach panicked and made mistakes with the ineffective subs that led to 10 v 11 situation. But overall Canada players just played for not just themselves but for each other on the pitch. They are playing like a single unit. The US team had better physical and speed as most 50/50 balls were won by their side but Canadian put their body on line without making any dumb fouls. @@AsianVideoGamer Most of Berhalter’s line up decisions have been very poor lately. His starting lineup that lead to the 1-1 draw before this was bad aswell. It seems the team really plays to their opponents level regardless of who it is. The team that beat Mexico and the team that has played the last 3 games look nothing alike. Way too many runs into the corners then half hearted cross attempts. Lots of hero dribbling instead of making the easy pass when the ball got close to the box today. Canada was definitely the better team today and deserved the win.
Canada's goalie was a big part of the win. A couple of those stops were game savers for sure.

Canada is just dominant right now. They are one of the best teams in the world, with depth in every line - world class in the defensive line and in the two motors up front. Not to mention the esprit to corps, digging deep on every play for each other, great creativity and group-intuition on quick one touch overlaps to cross channels and on through balls in transitions, incredible organization in defense,,, they're just the team to beat... Losing to them is no great shame.
Anybody read the US Soccer summary of the game? The Americans had to deal with cold weather, high winds, an unusually narrow field and hard turf. No wonder Canada won

If Croatia wants to be higher in the rankings than other teams, the path to that is simple. The rankings are determined using the same formula used to rank chess players. It is based on a points system. After each game, the points are adjusted according to a specific formula.
The points you end up with after each game will depend on the importance of the game. Friendlies are less important than Nations League games which are less important that World Cup matches etc. Similarly a semi-final or final is more important that early stage games.
Also taken into account is whether you won or lost, and whether it was in regular time, extra time or in a penalty shootout. The team you beat or lost to affects your ranking. If you beat a team much higher in the rankings, your points will increase more. Canada ranked at #40 beat the US ranked at #11 so Canada's rating may go up when the next rankings are published and the US rating may go down.
You can have just top stars on your team. Their presence does not determine the ranking; their performance on the field does.

@@nearharvy2735 No rating method is perfect. But the more games you win and more teams ahead of you you beat, the higher your rating will be. The system is transparent. If you were to collect the relevant data on all the games played by all the nations around the world, you can calculate the rating for yourself.

It is true. I never would have believed it. Soccer is an emotional game. I grew up with hockey and baseball. We derided soccer. A game for others we said. But today, I saw proud young Canadian boys singing our national anthem prior to the game and I was hooked. I fell in love. Then I watched the game. Extraordinary. When it ended, just after that young man scored his first goal for Canada, I had tears running down my face. It was then that I got down on my knees and I prayed. I thanked God that Trudeau's diversity and equity policy has not infected Canadian soccer. I thanked God that winning at soccer is more important than running a country. Who cares if the best people get cabinet positions? Cabinet appointments have never made me cry. Do we really care if the best people are running the country? Apparently not, because you get those jobs based on equity and diversity quotas. But winning at soccer, now that matters! Thank you, Canada soccer for giving me a great moment. Thank you for ignoring equity and diversity. We are all Canadians. From now on my race is shaded. Shaded are those of us who claim no race. We are all people. I am a proud shaded Canadian.
