I love how Vader is almost casual with the way he's deflecting the shots - it really conveys how hopeless the situation is for the soldiers, and how truly terrifying he is.
Even a Padawan could deflect them with a lightsaber and kill these guys with ease... The real vader from the novels would force speed towards the door, destroy it; and absolutely kill everyone in a heartbeat
@@daijme he's a demi god hes so powerfull he could have killed them with out the saber if he was not in a hurry
@@daijme
You overestimate a padawan. Granted some bolts will be reflected but doubt they will survive. Just continue to storm tactic them just like in the purge plus Vader needs survivors and you have Tarkin ordering him around
@@dadian803 Dont comment when you have no idea what you're even talking about xD
Ala verga
They need to employ the fight choreographer that done this for all future Star wars projects. He nailed it.
Holy shit you’re right, for the first time I actually paid attention to the credits
They should just get nick gillard who made rage prequel choreography
@@Capybara2240OG trilogy people complain that the fights felt like dances rather than fights which is why we don’t have those fights anymore. Also the in canon reason is that was because it was at the prime of the Jedi.
@@roxtechs I don't think that's the reason. The original trilogy used fencing as a basis for a lot of the fights. After all, Bob Anderson was the man in Vader's suit for the fight scenes in the original trilogy.
The new trilogy is just two people hacking at each other, there is no technique. It's just as fake as the prequel trilogy, but whereas the prequel fights could be entertaining to watch, the new ones are just painful.
@@Chopstorm. fencing in ANH, then they transitioned into more of a European broadsword format
If you stop at 2:58 you can see me on screen. What a day that was
Nice one
Glory to the Empire
Congratulations bro!
I hope you're proud of yourself stormtrooper!
Were you there when they invaded the tantive
The scene where he lifts the rebel to the ceiling I noticed that everyone stopped firing… They were so perplexed, for them it was like seeing something supernatural… just to have Vader cut him in half in front of them… spectacular scene
And how gratuitous was that kill.
Yes great pick up and it's such a small but brilliant detail in the movie. Remember, to almost everyone The Force is a religion or even just a myth - Han Solo thought so. So none of these rebel soldiers have likely ever seen the force in action, let alone seen it used in such a brutal way. Imagine just seeing your fellow soldier being lifted up like that.
The counterpart to the luke scene in mandalorian tbh.
I just noticed, vader was the one holding the door shut.
Oh shit! Good observation
WAT!
Cheers
Good catch. The doors opens easily after Vader eliminates the last man in the room.
@@Rn-pp9et nope, he wasn’t holding the door shut, if he was he wouldn’t leave a gap. The door opens because he breaks it by stabbing it with his lightsaber
The one moment where Star Wars turned into all out *horror*. When that hallway turns dark and a subtle dolly zoom happens....chills. It really shows just how terrifying and dangerous Vader was when he was in a mindset to kill. You were hopeless from his wrath.
"All I am surrounded by is fear and dead men." -Vader

“The one moment”
Until you check out the Expanded Universe and experience Abeloth, KOTOR 2, and pretty much anything with the Yuuzhan Vong. Even The Great Heep from Star Wars: Droids was pretty damn scary considering he was made for a cartoon for little kids, and even scarier when you find out his backstory.
This scene made Darth Maul look like the Easter Bunny. The way Vader never stops advancing, no script, no pause or stares, even cutting down the guy behind him that he pinned to the ceiling. This scene alone tells so much of the story of Vader's character, his anger, his vengeance, how deadly this master of an "old religion" is. Best combat scene ever. RIP Carrie Fisher.
I didn't even fucking notice he cut down the guy behind him
I still feel bad for that poor bastard that got pinned to the ceiling and then got sliced in half.
😢their sacrifices saved the galaxy it proved one truth heroes are ordinary people and everything you do matters 💯
Mauls Hallway Scene was epic he ripped a Venators Hyperdrive out and killed the entire ship worth of Clones
darth maul did way much more damage and even brought down the ship! vader just killed some rebels and maul didnt even have a lightsaber,...idk what the hype is, this scene is super tame...maul was cutting peoples heads and arms off..now that i think about it...this scene sucks lol wtf ....when a live action scene is too PG compared to a childrens show somethings wrong XD
Worth a mention just how good the acting is from the rebel guys in this scene too. The fear in his eyes at 2:06 gets me every time - They knew right away they were well and truly finished.
and yet, still not bowing to fear. Excellent acting indeed.
@@Grom76300
'hope'
that's not 'fear' - it's fairly bad 'acting'
The alarm Sound makes it so frightening
I thought the same thing. Some of the best acting in the star wars franchise.
Vader casually annihilating those rebels like they were younglings is probably one of the coldest Vader moments ever.
I’m really not a fan of the new Star Wars but this movie and scene in particular gives me chills every time
2:07 The look of horror on that Rebel's face...along with the crystal clear realization that he wasn't going to leave that hallway alive.
indeed ^_^
Yep. He went out like a G for sure. 🫡
This is one of my favorite Star Wars scenes ... I wish all of the Disney movies had been like Rogue One from a tone perspective the fear and how effortlessly Vader just brutally murders everyone is insane
One of the best Darth Vader scenes. For only a short time. Perfect.
This scene strikes more terror into viewers than actual horror movies do. Everyone knows when Darth Vader shows up, you’re screwed.
2:44 That "LAAAUUUNCHHH!" is bone chilling
Exactly! It perfectly captured maximum fear, maximum panic, maximum desperation, in ONE WORD. That is great directing. This director and writer should have done ALL the movies going forward.
That actor had only one word and he put his all into it job well done.
One of the best scenes of all Star Wars movies
The best part about the whole scene is the fact that the door isn't jammed, Vader is holding it while simultaneously making the Rebels pay, and they did the best they could against unbeatable odds. The only thing I'd change is to have Vader hold back the ship when it launches, even if just for a few seconds -CXD
That theory falls apart as soon the other identical door open and closes just fine afterwards
@@Bennysol Agreed. That theory is bogus. He would haveclosed the door, not left it partially opened.
@@Kontorotsui Maybe he was toying with them. Give them a bit of hope to make it even more brutal
@@Transilvanian90 not typical of Vader. He would do the job directly.
he didn't
I love how Vader, before the onslaught, purposely turned off the life-support system on his chest for the sheer purpose of just...suspense.
Vader literally lives, survives & cherised being dramatic. I love it. 😂
That was a force power. He didn't turn it off
That's Anakin for you
@@mrblank-zh1xyyes he did turn the life support off
Remember he fought Luke in cloud city, and right before he snuck him moments before lukes hand was cut off, Luke was trying to hear for vaders system. Nothing but silence, then vader comes out with his breathing increased due to his life support being off for a few moments.
@@des9930 you can hear him breathing at 2:06.
This is dramatization of the darkside power Horror.
Not only that, but he's using the Force to literally blow his cape behind him. Disabled war veteran squadwipes a terrorist cell while off life support he literally needs using only a plasma stick and telekinesis.
Das ist der einzige Film unter Disney, den ich einigermaßen gut finde
While watching this in the movie theater for the first time, it gave me goosebumps, this scene was really good. And it still gives me goosebumps ❤
Still goosebumps!
Watching this and then watching the Luke mando scene is so sick. Like it's crazy how much they're alike and also how they're different.
Like father like son makes you realize Luke could have turn to the dark side and emperor overconfidence was his weakness
One of the most bad ass Vader scenes ever!!!
Still my favorite scene in all of Star Wars. I'm 22 and I still shake my hands like a child when I see it. It's that good
You’re too young bro you’re generation is the new sequels. My generation is the prequels.
@@nicholasnoriega1205And who exactly made you the gate keeper of the franchise? MF saying “my generation” like the prequels are even that old. 😂😂😂
@@nicholasnoriega1205
😂😂what about me buddy
I'm 16 I'm younger and what does that make me? A part of the FUTURE star wars films after 2024?
💀💀💀I grew up with the original trilogy and prequel trilogy
The main actress in this movie did such a terrific job. Im baffled daisy ridley gets so much star status after her terrible performance in the sequels but this chick gets basicslly ignored and she actually killed this whole role
Really? Comparing their filmographies, I'd say that they're about equal in relevancy, though when I say relevancy I mean I have never heard of the movies or shows both of them played in after SW so maybe that's not the case.
Pure dynamite. This ending never fails to choke me up and then excite me. Wow.
Wow watching Andor die now hit really different
Been thinking the same watching Andor, it all leads to this…
Great scene, great actors, great characters, RIP Carrie
So powerful, but always one step too late
I don't think so
Vader never liked the death star, he prefers the power of the Force.
So, my guess is he lets them run away after blocking the door so they can tell everyone how terrifying he is
@@vincenttatin9279 Witnesses? YA; Like, The Curious Asks-"What did you see before we went to hyperspace"? Some people think Vader was holding the door shut, some think he wasn't, either way if he really wanted to stop them he could have just closed the door.
hell, he could have stopped their escape ship with ease, He let those rebels go.
@@thefracturedbutwhole5475Vader and Anakin are they same actor even said it pretty Anakin wanted them to win
That is a SITH LORD!
If you see hów powerful he is...and realize he's even 'toned down'?
He lost an arm on Geonosis, when he and Obi-Wan fought Count Dooku.
He lost his other arm and both of his legs in the fight against Obi-Wan on Mustafar...
This limited him physically already, but also prevented him to sue Force Lightning: the pinnacle of the Dark Side?
And ofcourse his mechanised suit didnt allow him to leap around as swiftly as he could, with his actual body intact.
He was a stoic, allpowerful berserker/juggernaut of the Dark Side, but he was limited by his injuries from the past....
You dont want to imagine what he would have been capable of, if he was still fully intact... Palpatine/Sidious wouldnt ever have stood any chance against him... never!
Merely because Vader could not use Force Lightning, and Sidious had mastered this ability, was the sole reason Sidious remained superior over Vader.
Vader wás already much more powerful with the Force then Sidious was.. Had Vader still been intact, Sidious would have died, a long time ago, and Vader would have ruled the Empire.
Sidious being able to control a more powerful Sith, made him the most succesful Sith in existance, but Vader is and remains the most powerful.
I pissed myself when I watched this in the theater and then cleaned it up because I thought Vader was gonna come through the screen and punish me for doing so
Darth Vader is such a nice guy, he helped that soldier to open the door😭
2:11 nobody messes with Darth Vader.
Apart from Obi Wan Kenobi
except if you have force lightning, wich conveniently none of his opposition has
This scene continues to be my all-time favourite scene of the entire SW set of movies and series.
Just goes to show how important download speeds can be, even in the unimaginable future! Life or death!
Though this was a long time ago in a galaxy far away (which is why they still used floppy discs.)
One of the greatest and most bad ass scenes in Star Wars movie history.
Such an good scene.
The fact the Vader kills a bunch of rebel's while holding the door closed really shows how strong he is
In the Star Wars universe, Vader was only thought to be a rumor, a character made up by the Empire to scare the rebels. These rebels saw what they thought was an urban legend, they realized all the stories about him were true. And they knew none of them was gonna make out of that hallway alive.
2:06 That was the most badass scene in cimema history....
Jyn and Cassian were set up to be love interests, but in the end held hands while watching the planet crumble around them. Survival. Success. Release. One of the most powerful scenes in cinema, and one of the reasons Rogue One is awesome. The Darth Vader part is pretty cool too.
Nobody talks about how the rebel fleet was about to dip but then Vader’s destroyer just appears out of hyperspace and denies their exit from scarrif. That’s badass enough by itself but then cutting through a whole group of foot soldiers with a small fraction of his power puts this scene over the top.
How could this scene have been made better? I personally think if Vader hadn't been shown at all in the film until he opens his sabre at 2:05, other than this, this was perfectly executed (no pun intended!).
I dunno, the scene with him and Krennic earlier is quite good. I'd have cut the scene aboard _Devastator_ at the Imperial office informing Vader _Profundity_ was disabled.
When bro turns his lightsaber on, you know it’s one of the scariest moments ever for a character.
Vader between the doors slaying has to be the most terrifying thing they could have ever seen.
"Help Us!!"
"Save Us" is better
“Fuckin how?!?”
i cant believe leia has the lip to give vader her nonsense about a diplomatic mission or whatever when vader watched her ship leave after barely missing the death star plans
I love how Rogue One logically jumps into Episode IV A New Hope
The way his ship just arrives and ruins half the fleet by existing 😂
When you first saw this in the movie theaters…at the end everyone clapped…never rooted so hard for a villain
This movie was just so incredible
Nothing makes more justice to Vader than this schene 😍
This was such a fantastic film and I loved the Rebel story and characters created.
It felt like the originals but didn’t rely wholeheartedly on Vader’s presence. Yet right at the end, we were reminded how big a Villain he was, and in the most ruthless way.
This film is easily in the top 3 for me of all time!
OMG when creators do their job...
If you notice, the lights and the door in the room behind the soldiers continue to work normally, which means that Vader disabled all the systems in the room where they were simply with his telekinetic power.
Fucking BADASS
Amazing, I cried
It’s nice when Disney films a Star Wars scene for adults for a change.
Great scene, always gets me the chills. But a thing here that makes no sense: why the hell the soldiers were passing a copy of the Death Star plans if they were transmitted to every Rebel ship on orbit from the antenna down there? I mean, even the Akbar-like guy's ship received it.
The big flagship was the only one capable of receiving a data file so large, they had to transport it manually to a smaller ship because Vader's Stat Destroyet disabled the big one
Seeing this for the very first time in the theatre - holy fuck i couldnt breathe...this ans the ride of the rohirrim back in 2003 were the two best moments i saw in the theatre
Best scene in SW ever
Totally agree. Everyone in the theater applauded. Darth Vader emerging from the darkness was total bad ass.
Darth Vader saying to them..."I'm surrounded by dead men.. "
Only Vader knows how to use a Star Destroyer effectively.
I just recently watched this without any idea what happened...BRO THIS ENDING SCENE IS THRILLING AND MIND-BLOWING! No wonder why it's 8.1/10 in IMDB
I like how Rogue One and A New Hope happens right after one another.
Best scene in Star Wars history 💯 not even close
What I'm about to say is sick, but people cheered as Vader let loose. We grew up knowing Vader was a total badass. This scene proves why.
Seriously remarkable scene 😢❤
This was amazing to watch in cinema, as soon as you hear the breathing everyone was cheering..
THANK YOU
The goosebumps I get from this whole scene and the soundtrack!
I love how his cape is blowing in a vacuum environment. 😂
Powerful!! The last good StarWars scene EVER 😢
best vader scene ever, vader vs reva almost has the same feeling but this here will always be #1 for me
Biggest trolling of all history making us belive that new star wars movies would be this good. :(
The fact that Vader allowed the Death Star plans to be stolen because he psychopathically wanted to toy with a bunch of overmatched rebel redshirts is hilarious to me
Vader wanted them to escape so he can lead them to their base he did that on Lothal and it paid off he destroyed Phoenix home
Vader was and still is THA KANG lol they need to do a movie strictly about Vader and his reign of fear and more scenes like this showing how much of a beast he was
This was so amazing seeing this for the first time
"A Jedi twisted by emotional attachment becomes something terrible"
3:30 Okay, that's just creepy. Talk about Uncanny Valley.
I love the Hammer Head Corvette.
Great ship design.
just imagine a scenario where Vader managed to get on the Tantive IV as it launched... you have a whole horror movie of him hunting down the crew as they try to get somewhere fast enough to use the escape pods
Damn...Vader makes it look so easy, almost like they were defenceless kids. Oh wait....
Best scene in the movie
The perfect villain entrance scene doesn’t exis……..
😮
The Last line should have been " Our Parents would have been proud of our efforts " "Very Proud Indeed " !
What a scene!! We have been waiting several years to know what happened in the mission of getting the Death Star's plans! Disney gave us what Star Wars fans deserved.
here in this 3 minutes, you see the true heroes of the rebelion, in this espectacular ending
makes me cry always as order 66. This is one of the best movie scenes in history in my opinion.
2:06 this is the moment that the rebel knew......... they fuck of..........
As Vader said in star wars kids "all to easy". _. I do not wish him on my worst enemy
He ís thé worst enemy! (Literally even! Darth Vader was actually named thé greatest Antagonist in movie-history!)
Bro imagine unexpectedly seeing a black wizard dude dramatically light up the room with a fucking red laser sword and then proceed to slay you all whilst using his hand magic to deflect your blaster and throw someone up into the ceiling. Terrifying. They had no fucking clue what they were in for. I love the way that's conveyed in their eyes and reactions.
Scary af
This is the Darth Vader fans deserved
Darth vader: me

I would say that this was the last Star Wars movie.
So epic how you can hear Vader bending the metal in the dark with his powers. 2:00 You can also see the darkness spreading on the walls and overtake the room before you visually see him when he engages his lightsaber.
The rebel soldiers had no shot in this scene....Darth Vader was in pure badass Jedi mode and wasn't interested in taking any prisoners.
