No kidding. Drives me nuts.
I think it would sew together easier and look neater if the strips were pressed first. It doesn't seem to lay very flat and would have to be pressed before adding the columns together. Your pieces were really wrinkled and need to press the seams to lay flat...just my opinion.
Rarely does a small channel show up in my suggested videos. I've been hoping some would, and here you are! I have wondered how these (what I call chevrons) were put together, and now I know. I don't seem to be very good at matching points, and that has kept me from doing any serious quilting, until I discovered the scrappy quilt idea. Love it!! And I have to agree with one thing you said - quilting should be fun. Unlike you, I do iron a lot, no matter what I'm sewing (usually purses, dressy tea towels, bowl cozies, etc), but if ya don' wanna, ya don' hafta. LOL By the way...totally off topic...I love your rings!
Don't worry about matching points. Try new things and worry about getting it exactly right later. Thank you for the kind words about my rings.

Quilting without pressing is sloppy.
You need an overhead camera. I can’t see what you are doing.
Pressing as you go is key to accuracy. Your seams don't line up when you have lumpy bumpy fabric. I think your sewing is sloppy.
As I say there are no quilt police. Quilting is supposed to be fun. The joys of a braid quilt is the seams don't have to line up.

You are actually lining your ruler with the valley. Also your camera is not set up correctly. It is not show what you are talking about.
What is that thing around you're neck.? I like you're style. I wouldn't iron either. They don't sound like they have fun. ❤
The "thing around my neck" is my wireless headphone mic. that way the sound is picked up but I don't have something in my ear which drives me nuts. Thank you for the kind words.
