1972 D8H Dozer Pure Sound ASMR On a fresh overhaul

A fella's working on backfilling a large drainage tile.
The dozer is a 1972 Caterpillar D8H 1265 cubic inch 6 cylinder. It has the D342 engine, which was recently overhauled by the same fella mentioned above.
I took some film at 24 fps, as well as 60 fps with the transition to 60 fps near half way through the video. 4:00 minutes
I setup my Tascam dr-05 on a tripod and flew my 3dr Solo to make this presentation, thanks for watching!

Spent many hours from the age of 19-26 on H’s dozing and pulling scrapers , direct drive 235hp and the 270hp power shifts 👌🏻😎

With the weight of the clay and the fact it was frozen I'm not sure what the most efficient way is. This work was completed in just over one day for a time reference

Should have the factory exhaust pipe with the cone inside for the aircleaner dust ejector to work.

Never did have one of those pretty chrome stack like that. Operated a few that would run a blaze of fire after dark though.

My old man said that at night he would run the cats hard being 270hp 46a and the turbo exhaust housings would glow red after pushing scrapers and hard pushes of overburden. Had a fleet of 6 cats varying from ateco rippers and cat 4 barrel and 2 barrel rippers to bare back and winch cats and finally having an 8k all at the same time. Plus a d9h that had a new engine that was dyno'd and turned up to push our tires ts24 scrapers. Hp on the 9h was 436 hp.

Why is the hood missing, it is not dark so you cannot see the red turbo which I am used to seeing back in the day. I miss that so much.

If I remember correctly the old hood had been smashed too badly to be salvaged.
