A little bit of a correction; the games are set not thousands of years but merely a couple hundred years, as it's based around the Meiji period.
It's nice to see how pokemon scarlet and violet bases it's framerate off of the user score on metacritic
A bit of a correction on the pokeballs:
Feather balls are not actually more effective at catching flying type pokemon, they are purely sniper balls.
Heavy balls are not actually better for catching heavy pokemon, there effect has changed from the traditional games. They are more effective at catching pokemon that haven't spotted you, at the cost of having much shorter range. I like to use them in combination with smoke bombs
One interesting theory I have heard fans throw around is that the addition of Enamorous and the other Gen 5 references in this game means there is a possibility of a Pokémon Legends Kyurem set in Unova when the Original Dragon was whole.
I don’t know how likely it is because Game Freak loves just getting rid of ideas not long after implementing them (like Mega Evolution) but I found it interesting.
Id hope so, unova's one of the last gens that's only ever been 2d

I really love legends arceus! I like replaying it alongside scarlet and violet. It’s interesting to see what they did and didn’t carry over to the next game. There are a actually a lot of hidden things story wise that the developers added in that most people won’t pick up on and I think it’s a good example of ‘show don’t tell’ like yeah the main story isn’t perfect but it’s cool how much little optional interactions they added in (like the protag from Hisuian snow being tucked away in an event easter egg)
I think the game really needed dlc in order to reach its maximum potential. The daybreak update was good, but after that..nothing. It’s a bit frustrating that they chose to release sv the same year when it probably would’ve been less load heavy on the developers if they kept sv in development for longer. I adore the game a bunch and I’m in love with the setting, but it needed more tlc before they released a new generation. I feel for the developers, they’re doing their best under a tight deadline.
Yeah after playing scarlet and violet I was a bit confused why they removed some of the stuff from legends arceus that people enjoy such as overworld battles, overworld catching and aggressive Pokémon
Overworld battles are in sv and some Pokémon charge at you
You play as a child in a time where pokemon are nicer
I think it's pretty far fetched to demand that Game Freak incorporates features from one game that was developed simultaneously to SV. To talk about "removing" this stuff is a bit disingenuous in my opinion.

PLA is the better and deeper game, with action rpg mechanics added to the traditional formula, such as wild Pokémon attacking you and catching Pokémon by sneaking up and manually throwing pokeballs. SV has better battling but that’s it, if PLA had the traditional battle system and multiplayer it would be the perfect game.
PLA is great because it ditches aspects of the archaic battle system that have long needed a revamp. Would it work for multi-player? No. But it doesn't need to. Nobody wants to participate in eugenics.
Imo there's a little too much emphasis here on how Gamefreak said that this is a mainline entry. Like, yes, they can *say* that (probably because the upside to saying it is more sales while the downside to saying it is nothing), but did we really expect every future game to be like this? I wasn't expecting gen 9 to be Pokemon Legends 2 and then gen 10 is Pokemon Legends 3 and then gen 11 is Pokemon Legends 4 (although considering all the bad publicity Scarlet and Violet got, maybe that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world)
I do think Scarlet and Violet could have taken more from what works from Legends Arceus, but Gamefreak's development isn't so linear. They were probably working on Legends and Scarlet/Violet at the same time. They wouldn't be able to release Legends, see how people feel about the changes, *and then* rework Scarlet/Violet around that. Scarlet/Violet were probably too far in development to make fundamental changes like that.

I really feel the Nintendo Switch was already outdated when it first released, the CPU’s were manufactured in 2015.
i did not play a single pokemon game after black and white on the ds , picked up arceus when it came out and goddamn did i love it they had something so good in this project and it brought back that younger me pokemon grind with new interface and whole game look. i love this game.
Bro same I bought pokemon arceus a week ago and been playing for a whole straight week and feel like a little kid again . By far a great game for the Nintendo switch .

Oh, that's a big difference I didn't notice: SV didn't keep pokemon moving towards the other pokemon to attack. I didn't clock just how big of an effect that had in making PLA feel so good

Watching this video now that I've completed PLA and S/V I can say PLA is the better game and it's really sad the best features never came over.

Arceus was the first Pokémon game for me period. It's just so fun how you just run around crafting your own Pokéballs.
I hope they bring back the immersive style gameplay soon otherwise I'm not interested.
Despite its issues, I’d say Sword and Shield excelled in a few areas being its art style, music, and character customization. I really enjoyed sword and shield and unlike BDSP, I was able to overlook its issues and enjoy it for a couple hundred hours. However, letting this remain the standard is unacceptable as this is Pokemon we’re talking about and innovation is kind of their thing.

After gen 7 all other releases are not up to par with the times or are a complete joke (BDSP).
Sure Arceus and SV have some amazing ideas but no game is a complete package and they know it very well, they just want the money.
I still buy all games and am a super fan but i cant turn a blind eye to the fact that we are not getting quality stuff.

I haven't played neither PLA nor S/V, so my opinion is likely worthless but just from watching streamers play both titles on Twitch, I can say I enjoyed PLA soooo much more. The music, the shiny hunts (which became so much easier but shinies were still rare enough imo) and the game play style.
Sure the graphics and several aspects of the game play mechanic leave room for optimisation...but I was so happy with PLA bc I expected GF to expand on it and basically release a "PLA 2.0" with way better graphics, storyline and other improvements.... what we got, however, was Scarlet/Violet :::::]
It's disappointing that Legends Arceus didn't sell as much as Scarlet and Violet, I enjoyed Legends a lot better
Honestly I'd still rather play legends Arceus over Scarlett and Violet any day of the week. Great video and thanks to CZcams algorithms, sub earned good sir. The gyms are overrated, E-4 overdone, team safe space is bothersome (come at me with what Gamefreak wants me to call them), Arceus was freedom i always wanted, and didn't think that I'd ever get. I'm fact I've been playing other games and am going back to Arceus. Either that or pokken tournament which is also another of my fave Pokemon games.

Despite S/V coming out over half a year after legends arceus, legends arceus still feels like the better evolved form of the pokemon formula. Scarlet and violet, well fun, fall into the same trap as practically everything before it: There's so much empty space between the towns. I mean, there's now the other missions, but like you only do those once and never go back to those locations. I know some people think the same thing goes for legends arceus but I strongly disagree, there's different materials and different types of pokemon in each part of the map and parts of the map you can only get to later after unlocking new ride pokemon, further encouraging exploration. Not to mention all the side quests and pokedex entries for each pokemon. I don't know, it just feels like after I beat the game and the rematches I was done with scarlet and violet while I still have so much I can do in legends arceus. Although, credit where credits due, auto battling is a really convenient feature. But catching pokemon in the overworld is still better IMO since you have to actually work for it
There’s is one gripe I have with Legends Arceus, the complete absence of the Gen 8 Pokemon, specifically the ones that were introduced Sword and Shield. I feel like there’s more Gen 1 and 4 Mons with a tiny bit of Gens 3, 5, and 6, with Rowlet being the only Mon from Gen 7.
I know the Gen 4 remakes restricted us with Pokemon from Gens 1 to 4, which sux, and Legends Arceus give us some beyond that and stop suddenly at the Rowlet line.
I’m worried that GameFreak or whatever outsourced Dev Company will do the same thing for the potential Gen 5 remakes, I rather have my dream to stop a Pokemon version of PETA with Weed Cat to come true.
My only guess is that PLA was in development too close to SWSH so they didn’t integrate them in the game but I have no clue. Definitely is odd
They likely didn't want to introduce any new evolutions or forms for Pokémon they'd just released that generation (PLA was still a gen 8 game, after all). It also makes sense why there's mostly gen 1-4 Pokémon given it's set in past Sinnoh, and they didn't change much about modern Sinnoh in BDSP, so they possibly didn't want to add a large number of Pokémon to the region that aren't already present in some form in modern Sinnoh (what few new 'mon or forms we got seem to be at least locally extinct in the modern setting).

I don't think GameFreak hate's PLA like a red-headed stepchild. Rather, I think this is a trial run, as it were. Release PLA with no fanfare, just after the holiday season rush and release of BDSP, skip DLC, and announce Gen9 just a few months later.
Now, GameFreak is going to be watching videos just like yours and looking at what worked: Basically all of PLA (especially the difficulty... more would not be amiss, maybe even with a nuzlocke option to play with standard; with the co-op, single ride pokemon, and expanded crafting/item grind of S/V, and level scaling+better graphics + voice acting of main antagonist, gym leaders, elite four, rival, important npcs... and what didn't (basically, your video). And that will go into Gen10.
I think Arceus was their shot in the dark, just release and see what happens. If it misses, no big deal they were blind and they have the "traditional" gen9 in a few months...but if it hits the bullseye (which it absolutely nailed IMO) then it gives the basis for the franchise to change tact and pivot. I think Gen10 needs to look more like Arceus than the originals if Pokemon is going to remain the blockbuster powerhouse it is.
I played S/V first and after played Arceus, I almost can't go back to S/V... at the picknick hanging out with my team and having my lead follow me around and autobattle is basically all I go back for. Arceus just feels better, I feel more immersed, I actually care about my team for the first time. Getting my face rolled by Volo was simply epic and only made me want more (plus wonder where all that challenge went in S/V). Hell, even Mai can kill you if you're not prepared (and if you are prepared).
I'm scared for 5 gen remake

While there are many Pokémon that attack you in scarlet and Violet. You don’t need to be duplicitous to make a point or make something look better.

I didn’t really care for arceus. The story wasn’t as good as sv and the load times when you went to different areas was so bad. The customization in both games is awful

Having played both games, I still lean to Scarlet & Violet a lot more than Legends, and that's because SV is an extension of the things that Legends did right. The larger overworld to explore, the Pokemon in real time exploration, and the Ride Pokemon being a part of Miraidon/Koraidon that we get to utilize when we need to. Sure there are framerate issues, but that's honestly the only *real* problem with Pokemon SV. Putting that issue aside, the content is a caliber above Legends, the characters are well written and well done, the story is absolutely the best for a modern Pokemon game, and that is all thanks to what Legends provide back in January. Legends walked so SV can now jog and hopefully run when we see the Expansion Pass soon.
What content? The titan battles that take 6 minutes each to complete? Or the laughable team star that takes about an hour to complete....the only thing sv have is an elite 4 and gym battles that's it. Sv was a step back while arceus actually changed the old tired formula....the battles are back to waaaaaay to slow in sv. Can we stop pretending that sv is solo amazing when its not
I do agree the story is leagues better-wish I mentioned that in the review. The characters are much more memorable, although the lack of voice acting still really holds it back.

@Kent Semenuk The titan battles take minutes to complete... without mentioning that you have to travel across different corners of the map. Speaking of the map, rather than going from point A to B you can explore the world and find useful items and participate in Raid battles which yield lots of rewards and rare Pokemon. There there is also the hunt for the legendary Pokemon.
You'd had to have the attention span of a baby or a dog to say that there is no content in S/V.

You talk like SV “took” from PLA…they were developed at the same time. As if SV was biting off PLA and that makes them worse. They had the same idea in the same development cycle. One coming out first doesn’t give it more credit. Be less belligerent in your reviews to give it more credibility. Lotta other whiners out there. Making a longer video does make you stand out I presume. Maybe not for the best reasons.

To be honest, I think both games are equally bad. saying Legends is better than Scarlet and Violet is like saying Trash is better than Garbage, it doesn't matter since both of them are going to end up at the dumpster. But then again that's just my opinion.
They may have their share of technical issues, but none of these games are nowhere near garbage.
