Winter Fishing From The Bank [Ultra Light Tackle]

  • Just because the water is really cold doesn't mean you can't trick a few fish into biting this time of year (even from shore). In today's video, I outsmart some bass and perch from bank with a few different ultralight fishing rigs. The key this time of year is simple:
    1) Use slow moving techniques that can target suspended or bottom-oriented fish.
    2) PATIENCE!

    I caught some fish on that 2 lb xl trilene the other day. It was fun i used a trout magnet with a float. Then I swapped to my other ultralight with 4 lb test and throwed a double trout magnet rig out and caught a crappie, smallmouth, and like 20 rockos. I'm telling you like an hour before dark those fish were aggressive in this slow deeper creek. It probably helps that we've had unseasonably warmer weather here in NW AL. 👊👍

    Q: Apart from saving weight, what makes small spool spinning reels better?
    Cost?

    • @evanramee796
      @evanramee796 Před 2 lety +2

      I think that the smaller diameter spool helps the small ultralight line escape while casting easier. You would probably get worse casting distance with a giant spinning reel.

    • @FishAnything
      @FishAnything  Před 2 lety +1

      It’s predominately to cut down on weight and balance a rod better. Additionally, I use light line so I don’t need massive capacity. But to be honest I prefer a larger diameter spool because it gives me better casting distance and lower memory. Ideally, we would have access to shallow spooled 1000 and 2000 size reels. Would be better for UL fishing!

    • @FiciousCritik
      @FiciousCritik Před 2 lety

      @@FishAnything I ignored the balance aspect, but you did not. 👍
      The physics imply longer casts with bigger spools;
