  • Today we are in the beautiful Lake District for my first ever solo wild camp. I started in the far east of the Lake District at Sadgill just outside Kendal. In this walk I completed 2 wainwrights, Grey Crag and Tarn Crag. I hope you enjoy this video as I spend a night alone in the wild, camping on top of a mountain in the Lake District.

Good video, thank you. Id say you nailed the issue with your tent. I always make sure the base is pegged down flat and square first, then get your guy lines in and finish off with any other parts that need a tent peg. Go for taught surfaces as the flappy bits will make a lot of noise and potentially come loose when the wind picks up. Direction is important too, get your door away from the wind, but take into account the view both at sunset and sunrise. Keep em coming!

Dude don't mess with mother nature if your not confident ,not sure where you are don't do it. Safety first. I'v been wild camping for over 40 years think i know my limits. Don't skimp on your gear buy the best you can. Buy adventure packet food never tins you need less weight to carry . If you can't pitch your tent move on because if that weather changed that tent would have been ripped apart. Then you have no shelter believe me it's happened to me and it's no fun. If you have a well trained dog take him/her with you. My dog Milly comes with me every where she's my sat nav she finds all the right routes for me. Buy a drone like a DJI MINI 2 it will capture stunning views and also could save your life. PLEASE WATCH BUSHMAN and BLUE learn from him. The most important thing to learn is be safe and warm. Subbed yah.

Cracking job (that is possibly the worst pitch ever!😂)

  • @Jmaccxx

You could have softened the ground with a bit water in the places you needed to peg out. Pour the water on the spot, wait 15-20 mins. Don't use your foot either, too much concentrated force is what bends the pegs, instead you need a flatter wider surface to spread the impact (flat rocks) You could have also guyed it out with the two rock craic, loop the line round a small rock then use a bigger one to pin the line down. You can pitch a tent anywhere man, if you know how ;) You did spot on mate, main thing is you enjoyed yourself.

  • @TheMadmacs

i wonder if anybody makes short pegs like a claw for thin soil, would be nice to have a few in the peg bag all the time.

  • @susancottiss9903

Just had to look up what JFDI means 😂🤭

  • @stoatmcgroaty1586

That was a really great first attempt .... if it has made you question your choice of tent keep an eye out for anything geodesic where you have the 3 poles crossed over ... the Vango Hydra would be a good example of the shape to look for .... they tend to be a bit more freestanding if the pegging out isn't ideal ... and much more stable in wind ... You really did yourself proud tho ... look forward to seeing more .... happy trails :o)~

Nice video and location. Cheers from Norway 👍🙂

  • @SSm-xf6mv

Editing and photography are awesome. Appreciate the effort that goes in. Are you going to do any more of Scotland, in particular the Cairngorms, in the future?

  • @susancottiss9903

Well done on your first solo camp, once you've done it your confidence builds up. Another video packed with beautiful views. Maybe bring the Disaronno next time for a night cap 😂

  • @royhumphrey49

Well done! I did a fair amount of fell-walking in my middle age. But not much camping! Only walked with friends - never alone. Overnights were almost always in private B&Bs with evening meal and beer in the local pub.

its a roof over your head m8 end of the day
