Lake District allows camping?
Hi Paul can I ask you where abouts you purchased that mini Air bed pump
@@uvfmakemftm8357 this is the one I use 👍🏻 amzn.to/3tdQnBr
Can safely say this tent is fantastic for the price had many weekends in this, away wild camping with pals.
It looks better than the common cheap Quechua ones.
A few years ago I bought a one person tent for £29.99 from Argos. They later reduced them to £19.99 so I bought three more. I still have the other three packed in the bags, unused. The first one has been given a pretty hard life and although I've not pitched it at more than 3000 feet, it is standing strong.
what’s it called mate?
Thanks mate. Still on the market for a new tent. Can’t decide!
My favourite tent so far was under 20 quid from Tesco, so I should be quite easy to please. 😆
Anytime I'm feeling down your videos never fail to raise my spirit and put a smile on my face. Thank you Paul and keep them vids coming my way! Cheers!
I have one of these spent a few nights in it and had no problems, poles get easier to setup the more you use it :) Great video as always Paul!
I Just wanna say I have just done my first camp ( in garden) in this Tent and it held up well Thank you Very much Paul.
Sad!!!
I own this tent and love it for the price! I have had it over a year and done week tours with it across Spain. After you get to know the tent it takes minutes to pop up. Small things I do is I keep the two sheets together so I can put it up at once and I use my walking stick to hold up the door as a shield and little cover when cooking
I used this tent in de nevado Toluca in Mexico at 4500 meters in a full on thunderstorm with hailstones high winds and heavy rain & was as dry as a bone .
Brilliant tent .
Great little tent! Would love to take it for a spot of camping on my bike in the summer..... lockdown willing! Let’s hope 2021 is a better year for everyone to get out and about! Merry Christmas all!
Happy christmas everyone. I would love to take the OEX tent up into the Mourne Mountains in Northern Ireland. Whoever the winner is I hope they get many enjoyable nights under the stars. Happy Christmas Paul, love the content and I am looking forward to seeing more in the new year. Take care
I hope you win it from this comment
@@daniel.w63 thank you but I wouldnt win an argument. All the best if you have entered yourself
@@MonicaOutdoors thank you, fingers crossed. Happy christmas
Hope you win it Jason and you get up the Mournes in it 👍🏻
Thanks for this Paul, cracking video and great you're one of the few who thinks about us who are starting out and not wanting to or can't spend hundreds on kit!
Keep up the excellent work!!
Merry Xmas! Thanks for the videos. Outdoor adventures are much needed during this year of stay-safe-at-home orders. Looking forward to the New Year!
Can't beat it mate I have a lot of oex tent,
Thanks for watching

Heyup Mr Woodsman, fancy seeing you here 👍

I would take it up Blackstone Edge and introduce my son to the amazing pleasures of camping. I love this channel and you are an inspiration.
Just getting into camping again in my mid 50's on my motorbike. This little lightweight tent looks ideal for me on my lonesome out on my bike in the North of England & Scotland wild camping.
A real man NEVER reads the instructions on anything first!! 😂
If you need to read the instructions for such a tent first, it´s not designed well.
I once read instructions on how to never read instructions....
I have a friend with the same attitude when he bought his first DVD player,Now it just sits there under his 60inch digital TV because he threw the instructions away!!🤪
actually it is the exact opposite. real men take the time to read the instructions so we know what we are doing first. you dont read the instructions first, you are a shameful man.
@@orion7741 you clearly did not read the instruction manual on how to not be judgemental of men... well that or you are female and as all men know women know everything and have no need of instruction manuals.
Merry 🎄 Christmas ! Hope you have a wonderful day !
I bought this tent about 2 months ago with plans for some spring and summer camps. Such good value and great to see it given the thumbs up by you...
Looks a nice little tent to use for a wild camp on the top of Pendle Hill and some of the other fell tops in the Trough of Bowland. All the best for the festive period and a happy new year to everyone.
Merry Christmas! Would love to take this tent out into the Lakes for my boy's first wild camp ❤️
I have this tent and I LOVE it. I was using a 2 person Ozark trail tent and it was single walled. I definitely had to get used to the loss of space but this OEX kept me so warm and dry in September and October in Scotland. I also got completely different stakes with it. Mine were orange. You're definitely right about it being a pain setting it up in the rain with it being 2 parts. I also wasnt/am not super knowledgeable about tents so when I got it I didn't realize it had to be staked down to stay up which of course limits where you can pitch it but I've managed. It's definitely a great first time backpackers tent.
Very good, thanks, Merry Christmas to one and all
Great video as always, great entry level tent!
Here we go lads, merry Christmas troops 🙌🏽
A good no-damage hack on this tent is to run some paracord through the pole sleeves on the inner and then attach the outer to the paracord instead of the poles. Then you can pitch the inner and outer together (more or less) . Not perfect, but also doesn't require a second mortgage :D
Nice stolen hack with zero nod to the originator…smh…
@@4th_Lensman_of_the_apocalypse Ironically continuing the trend.... Please enlighten us? Who was it?
Doing the great Glen way next year would love to try this tent. Have a great Christmas to you and jo
Merry Chistmas everyone ! Looks good for the money Paul. Thanks for sharing and
good luck to you all.
I would love to take this tent with me while walking the south west coast path. Would be great to see you making some videos down this way too in 2021.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year. Keep up the good work in 2021.
Great video Paul. You've inspired me to go wild camping after discovering your channel in the summer. I've been dropping hints to my fiance about the phoex II but it wasn't under the tree this morning 😅 I'd love to take it to the lakes as its beautiful there. Merry Christmas, good luck everybody.
Great vid, looks a great tent for 60 quid. Enjoy the rest of your Christmas and look forward to seeing more vids next year. All the best
Happy Christmas to all. Just like to thank you for doing this competition on Christmas Day hope you’ve had a good one. I would like to take this tent to paddle gorge. Not a long hike but just a good laugh. Thanks again. All the best stay safe.
Great to see a review of less expensive equipment. Looks good for the money. Thinking of doing something around the south downs soon so would like to win the oex and let you know how it stands up to a multi night trip. Merry Christmas Paul, thx for all the great videos over the year and merry Christmas to all your subscibers
I was using the Phoxx 1 for years, including a 7 day trip through Glenn Affric. Its absolutely fantastic for the price! Didnt have an issue with inner pitch first, even during a full on storm - with practice its a 2 minute pitch (and you can pitch it under the outer if you peg the outer down losesly around it and work underneath, not ideal but its a budget tent) There's obviously a few things that could improve, but for £40 (at the time, on the 1) it was absolutely amazing. After 3 years, I finally replaced it with a Nordisk, and honestly it still competes. If you can handle the restricted space, abd want tiny pack/weight, I think you'd really struggle to beat it for under £200, maybe £300.
Great vid & review. Yep I'm a cheap skate or practical so right up my ally😀👍.
Merry (Happy) Christmas to you and Jo from Canada!
Here's to a much better new year.
Cheers and all the best.
David
Looks a superb tent for the price Paul. I’d definitely love to take this for a hike and wild camp at Bamford Edge looking over Ladybower!
Was there for sunrise this morning! Beautiful! Had to walk out because I dont have a tent!
Merry Christmas everyone! Would love to take the oex out into the brecon beacons as I'm planning on hiking the Beacons Way next summer. Good luck everyone!
Great tent for the price and I hope the winner gets many nights away in it. Thanks for sharing Paul
Great vid as usual, my (no.2 teenage son) is keen to get out with me and experience wild camping for himself, I’ve promised him we’ll do it, particularly with the situation with schooling this year it will be great to spend time away from the pressures of school, exams etc. This exact tent was the one i looked at with him only a few days ago. Looking forward to having that time and helping him along with a shared interest.. hiking and camping is something I’ve been lucky enough to have started around his age 15.. and dipped in and out over the years due to family commitments. . Love it !!
Merry Christmas to all Leave no Tracers. Be great to wild camp up Slieve Binnian in The Mournes in this. Nice prize dude. 👍
My wife, Brittany and I would love to use this on our backpacking trip this Spring at Yellow River Paint Creek Loop Trail! Happy Holidays from a couple fans of the channel here in Iowa!
He ain't posting it to America pal😂
Great video
Happy holidays Paul! Thanks for helping make our 2020 a bit more bearable!
Thanks for this Paul. Just been looking at this in go outdoor. Gonna get it for my first solo wild camp. Merry Christmas
I'd love to take this tent to Bamford Edge... the trip which I've had to postpone 3 times due to lockdown...it will be extra special wheI eventually get there!
I would love to give it a go on pen y fan, Looks like a great tent to start with and am a beginner and looking forward to getting out and enjoying the outdoors

We've got the Jackal 2, cracking tent for the winter and summer, quick pitch as well, outer first and then inner!
Happy Christmas, thanks for the great videos!
brought this tent for bike back packing, its perfect for my needs, it can pack smaller when folded correctly. glad went for the 2 man tent, gives so much room for 1 person and bags.
I'd love to take it with my daughter so she's got her own tent next time we're in peaks.
Merry Christmas 🎅
Hello from California. I would pitch this tent at a Big Bear Mountain camp site. Great videos. UK folks are so practical which Paul is a great example. You might want to give this tent to one of your local Lads, shipping would be prohibitive.
Thanks Paul really loved watching you and your channel, stay safe and keep on camping...
Hi Paul,
Just catching up and enjoyed your honest review as always.
Missed the deadline, but hope the new owner will enjoy their new tent.
Have a safe and active end to 2020, looking forward to viewing in 2021.
Happy Christmas chaps!
That's a good honest assessment of this tent , I would like to take it wild camping deep into my local woods and it would satisfy my needs
Looks perfect for the South Downs Way which I'm hoping to walk in the Spring. Always cheered up after watching your vids.
The inner fastens to the outer along the top during or after pitching to take up some of the baggy ness and also gives a bit more headroom 👍
Better still dump the inner tent all together!! And use a tarp ground sheet! Sorted🤠
I like what you have done with the garden, the rockery is a real winner. I'm looking forward to seeing the water feature.
That's some solid review man! Good job !
Good stuff, seems to hold up to the wind and rain alright. I'd take it on an adventure off the beaten track near Newbridge, Dartmoor. Hope you have a good Christmas, keep churning out videos, they keep me sane in all this madness!
Well done Paul ,Merry Christmas to yourself and Jo, loving the videos ,I'd like the tent to go to someone who's not got one. I've got enough so I'm ok thanks.
Merry Christmas Paul. Got some other OEX bits myself, good gear especially for the price. Would like to take this tent on a overnight camp along the Louth canal for a 20 mile walk I’ve got planned during the Spring 👍
Catching up on videos, congratulations to the winner - well deserved. Looks like a good tent for the money. Take care mate
Thanks for that, hiding upstairs as the mother in law has the TV on volume 60, didn't know it went that high, did a few motorcycle trips to Wales in August, hotels and B&Bs, so I think it would be mid Wales to break my wild camping virginity 🤞🤞
Hi Paul,
Like many people, this year has taken its toll ony mental health. I found that walking in the Peak District, really help me sort my head out. I didn't really have any of the gear needed to do it safely or comfortably, so I have even slowly building up my kit but I'm on a really tight budget. I've found that the trespass stuff from M and M direct has been ideal for my budget and needs.
As the November lockdown hit, I thought I would be able to find a good deal on a cheap tent that I could start to use from next spring, I actually looked at the Phoxx 1 and Phoxx 2 but decided against pulling the trigger untill I could get to a store to look at them properly. Unfortunately my 3 Y/O son was diagnosed with leukemia on 18th November so all my attention was directed to his treatment etc. Thankfully he is doing really well and resecting perfectly to the treatment which should mean that by late spring/early summer I will be able to start the hobby that never really got started.
If I was to win this giveaway, I would love to take it out to Bamford Edge as it is close enough to home (Shefffied) whilst still offering stunning views of the water.
Good luck to everyone who enters, and I hope everyone has had a merry Christmas
Cheers

I am just getting into solo wild canping and live near the Brecon Beacons id mostly take it there with my border collie Jess. i am exploring snowdonia and lake district over the next year.
Border Collies are the best. Great hikers and they don't run off for long. They do like to sleep inside the tent so it could get crowded in that reviewed tent.

I’d love to take this to the Lakes. More specifically Hellvelyn. Never pitched there as of yet, looking forward to it, win or not! Cheers Paul!

Merry Christmas! I'd love to take this tent to Dartmoor and explore the archaeology as well as the natural history. Hope we get to do more camping and exploring next year - it really helps to get rid of stress! Best wishes x
I have never been camping but I always watch camping videos on CZcams, I would take it to my local lake and camp there with it and try a spot of fishing. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
I'd probably take it into the peaks somewhere but I'd love to pitch up one night in Snowdonia and wake up to something stunning in the morning.
Took the one man version each up ygarn in the summer... Was epic 👌
Getting back into camping after several years, looking to travel a few places in the uk, but also would like to back around Europe and explore some of the sights they have to offer.
Buy a motorcycle load up head for Switzerland, You'll never regret it and wonder why you never been before believe me!!👍🇬🇧
Already got the Phoxx II v2 so good luck to the winner, you will love it. Great vlog as usual and heres to a great new year.
I love your honesty of your mental health as I too am struggling at the mo.
I love the unbaised views though as well.
If I had this tent I would be heading right out on Dartmoor. Its my "go to" moment of mindfulness. So lucky to live nearby.
That rain sound on the tent. Pretty sure that's better than hearing someone say to one 'I love you'.
Yo i can't sleep in rain tent lol. Iam weird but when i hear rain my brain goes crazy and i can't fall asleep
Love hearing rain as I’m going to sleep
@@reallokki I presume that has some aspect of fear to it? i used to be unable to stand it but it was only due to a fear of it becoming a storm too big to handle, once i got over that with age it became a comforting white noise.

Hi Paul, I've live out in the countryside and on my daily walks I've come across a squirrel, his partner and their squirrel babies, that I believe to be homeless. I want to give them somewhere stylish and spacious to live their squirrel life and to do their day-to-day squirrel business. I would love to help them out and do the squirrels a good turn.
I may even join them from time to time, as myself and my husband-to-me (if our wedding doesn't get Covid cancelled again) both love camping!
Happy Christmas to you all and the squirrel community! Xx
challenging conditions Gales and a lot of rain then a lot of Sun. I used two dry bags one for the inner and one for the flysheet. Being able to pitch it flysheet first really helped me stay dry..
I'd like to take it round to my young son's house (he's 16) so he can sleep well away from me and I don't have to put up with his horrific farts and horrendous snoring next time we're out on the hill.
Get one with winders.
I can’t believe I’ve missed the competition deadline. I’ve been looking for a tent for the past 4 months so would have loved this. Congratulations to the winner. I’m from Manchester so I would have been pitching it in roughly the same places as you in the Peak District.
Enjoying watching through your back catalogue mate. Keep Right on! (couldn't help myself)
I really enjoy your channel , thank you!!!
Paul, would you get more stability/tautness if you pegged out the rear flysheet using both guys at 45 degrees? Happy Christmas from deepest Dorset 👍
I'd take it and disappear into the wilderness that is Assynt. Atop Suilven on a particularly fine day, I imagine it, with no one but myself and nature for company. A glorious sunset, a gentle breeze and few beers. Now wouldn't that be a fine evening. Does it get any better than that? 🤣
Merry Xmas Paul and all. God bless us, everyone!
Merry Christmas everyone, great content as always !!!
Handy light weight tent to carry up Helvellyn via Striding Edge just the right size for me and the dog. In good conditions you could even leave the outer at home and watch the stars through the mesh window in the fly sheet.
Was thinking of getting a phoxx 2, so thanks for the video. Merry Christmas!
I'm a complete noob at all this camping stuff, so I'd go into the back garden or local woods with my 7 year old.
