OK FOLKS ! Here we go. Great movie. Very Authentic Thai atmosphere. I love the fact that you sit in the Tuk Tuks to eat your Thai food. Now then the scores on the doors! 🙊🙊🙊🙊 The fact that they never had any “Chang Dadda Chang Chang” was a bit of a disappointment 😳🍺👎 but thats just me 🤪. The Bao bun starters looked ok although Ive never seen those in Thailand? Masaman curry looked nice, thick and flavoursome, authentic crinkle cut potato too 👍 Daves Pad Thai looked ok, looked a bit greasy though to be honest. Obviously English prices. Bangkok you would probably with drinks get that for under £10 at a guess? All in all it looked a great place with lovely friendly staff. My wife is Thai and we quite like Zaap. Never seen a Boa bun on a street in Thailand, but most forang wont know that. Pad Krapow Gai is my favorite Thai dish, although I do love a good Massaman and the one you had looked pretty good. Another great Thai place in Leeds in Mommy Thai. Give it a try.
The crispy pork and morning glory is my favourite at the Nottingham Zaap. Very good. I would love it if they started cooking Beef Khao Soi (sadly not on the menu).....its my favourite dish in Thailand.
Looked to have a great vibe & food looked good but Lee ask Geoff how much food £50 would buy you in Thailand & does Leeds also have a service charge ? I really liked the look of the place but service charges really do it no favours which is such a shame.
You really need to try Mays thai cafe in darton , barnsley . My mates son Eats at Zaap in Leeds when they go out there and he says Mays cafe’s food beats it hands down. Awesome food we go regular . Pad chilli oil noodles mixed meat and Nakon Sawan curry with minced chicken . Amazing
Visited zaap thai at lunch time today ….. loved it sat in a tuk tuk ….. even the toilets were made to look like old tin huts 🤣… will definitely be going back 👍👍
What a great place. Service charge i assume you can ask for it to be removed when you ask for the bill after your meal am i right? I agree service charge that hacks me off somewhat too. Always a good sign to see an open plan kitchen. My mother worked in front of house catering all her life and some of the stories she told me about chefs and kitchen practises would put you off for life. 🤫
Love Thai food, a mate of mine married a Thai woman and I loved her cooking, I would be round there most nights, sadly they moved out of the area so I don't see them as much. Think that's why they moved she got fed up having to feed me and her husband 🤣 Looked nice 9/10

These bao bun are not Thai btw, it is sold also at Western Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean places with their take on the fillings. They are called Gua bao --- "Chinese" (Fujian cuisine) . Food is overpriced and I prefer more "Thai" restos though. Nice review and a different cuisine this time. 👍

Dave certainly had a lot more than you did I thought for the price which again is very expensive. Give Dave’s a 9 and yours a 7. 8 due to lack of rice and surprise service charge on top. Nice to see Lee you have recovered okay from your hot curry experience with the DJ dazzler 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Dave pretending to be a vegetarian is a real sore point for me. If he is here to review veggie options for your channel, then just say that. That’s cool. Pretending to be a vegetarian when you aren’t isnt. If His role as Macmaster staff is to have the veggie option, just go with it. He doesn’t have to pretend otherwise, we are good with that.

This looks great food. I'd eat here no problem. If Geoff says it's good, then it must be good. I sailed to Bangkok a few times in the late 1980s when I was in the navy -- I can't remember ever seeing the light of day.
Zaap is decent. You can quibble about the prices but spend some time watching the open kitchen and you'll see they really do cook like the street food sellers in Thailand. The pad ga prow in particular is essentially the same as you'll get on the street, unlike lots of other Thai restaurants who've turned it into an almost Chinese style dish and don't stick a fried egg on it!!

I really enjoyed your video Lee while sitting here in Thailand in the glorious winter sunshine reminiscing about my happy days in Nottingham. It looked very authentic (except the price!). I had a Pad Thai a few days ago which cost me £1.57! You will never see a service charge here (with the possible exception of some high-end restaurants), and tipping is also not expected. It's great to see you exploring some new food ideas, and please do more of them.

Why so harsh on service charge - you said service was good + staff friendly. Surely they deserve it?? It's better than tipping isn't it? Or maybe you never tip😮
Given the harsh effect of the lockdowns on independents like this, I think it's only fair that they add a service charge, particularly so if the businesses adapted and still provided a good service
Well, my wife just brought me Kao Ka Moo (Pork Leg Stew). in real Thailand that is ... 45 pounds ... OMG. Geoff Carter must really miss the cheap food and the Pattayan Girls. On the street this would have cost 200 baht ...around 5 pounds. That's why I don't plan to leave after 30 years.

Look really nice Lee and Dave I must say it's a 10 from me. Why a service charge K have no idea. I must admit when living in London I use to eat out a few times a week and not only did I pay service charge I use to Tip. (I always believed the waiter / waitress who serves should get all the tip, Not just to be shared out to all from service charge)
My comment may not be liked but in most restaurants I find the service good and am happy to pay 10% tip to supplement the service wages. I’m appalled if I hear that goes to the chef or owners. I quite like compulsory tipping if you spot it on the bill when going out in a large group of friends other wise you say-are we happy to tip-and some say I’ll put in 50p and others no thanks etc-big hoo hah!!! I stipulate if the service is really bad I wouldn’t pay it! I suppose ideally you would hope their wages were good enough but this has always been a long tradition but unfortunately abused by some employers.
It's good how they have created the Thailand vibe but I don't agree with the service charge if the waitress has been pleasant and helpful I wouldn't mind giving her a tip
Think I would maybe give the curry an 8.5 as it's not very spicy if Lee ate it ( Ha, ha, ha !), or can you choose the heat ? I want to give Dave's food a 9. I'm not a veggie or vegan but I do try the food if it's not too expensive, want to try those unreal noodles and the unreal prawn looked amazing. A bonus if they tasted good as well ?

I had a Pad Thai a few days ago which cost me £1.57! You will never see a service charge here (with the possible exception of some high-end restaurants), and tipping is also not expected. It's great to see you exploring some new food ideas, and please do more of them.

I was the store manager at Homebase Arnold and Castle Marina, and later had 2 of my own Londis shops in Edwalton and West Bridgford. When I watch you on Lee's videos, you do seem familiar. Why so harsh on service charge - you said service was good + staff friendly. Surely they deserve it?? It's better than tipping isn't it? Or maybe you never tip😮
I disagree with a service charge added. I leave my own tips. I don’t like being told I need to leave on and added on the bill.
Plus in The UK, they are paid a proper wage, they don’t work for tips and half the time it doesn’t go to the staff.

Given the harsh effect of the lockdowns on independents like this, I think it's only fair that they add a service charge, particularly so if the businesses adapted and still provided a good service

Well, my wife just brought me Kao Ka Moo (Pork Leg Stew). in real Thailand that is ... 45 pounds ... OMG. Geoff Carter must really miss the cheap food and the Pattayan Girls. On the street this would have cost 200 baht ...around 5 pounds. That's why I don't plan to leave after 30 years.

I must admit when living in London I use to eat out a few times a week and not only did I pay service charge I use to Tip.
(I always believed the waiter / waitress who serves should get all the tip,

My comment may not be liked but in most restaurants I find the service good and am happy to pay 10% tip to supplement the service wages. I’m appalled if I hear that goes to the chef or owners. I quite like compulsory tipping if you spot it on the bill when going out in a large group of friends other wise you say-are we happy to tip-and some say I’ll put in 50p and others no thanks etc-big hoo hah!!! I stipulate if the service is really bad I wouldn’t pay it! I suppose ideally you would hope their wages were good enough but this has always been a long tradition but unfortunately abused by some employers.
It's good how they have created the Thailand vibe but I don't agree with the service charge if the waitress has been pleasant and helpful I wouldn't mind giving her a tip
Think I would maybe give the curry an 8.5 as it's not very spicy if Lee ate it ( Ha, ha, ha !), or can you choose the heat ? I want to give Dave's food a 9. I'm not a veggie or vegan but I do try the food if it's not too expensive, want to try those unreal noodles and the unreal prawn looked amazing. A bonus if they tasted good as well ?
