Guess the song/band/year, Whiting Bay beach, Arran

Can you guess the song, the band or the year without looking it up?
I woke up singing this song the other day but had to look it up myself from the lyrics that I could remember, even though I remember the song very well.
it reached number 4 in the UK charts...not my version, theirs! lol
I love a song that tells a story, I think the best ones always do.
This is Whiting Bay beach 9Isle of Arran) last night at the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year.
I went out and recorded this at 10pm which is exactly when the Solstice is, when the Earth is at maximum tilt and the Northern Hemisphere gets the most daylight.

Aw thanks Margaret. I remember it well, a big hit in the UK when I was a teenager :-) I hope it's getting warmer for you soon now the Winter Solstice has passed

Yes, very sad and makes me a bit nostalgic as I remember the song well when it was in the charts. Really liked the song, catchy and nicely sung by the original artist...he had a great voice and a good range too. I was living at home and would've been 16 at the time, different days! :-) I hope you are doing well
