Paddle steamer Waverley on her first visit to the Isle of Arran of the year on 4th July 2024. Here she is seen passing the village of Corrie (Arran) in windy conditions. The forecast was for 40mph Westerly gusts increasing in strength as the day progressed. This resulted in the vessel's scheduled stop at Largs being removed from the timetable for safety reasons. When she arrived at Brodick ther...

Is this Ferry running every day?
Nice tomber coming from Arran not just pretty faces ....
Don't get under that grabber or you'll maybe get flattened if it suddenly discharges it's load.
This is hilarious! Love the blondes at 2:50 LOL! 😄
Hey Kitti 🙂 How're you doing? What're you up to nowadays? Yes it was very funny, Arran is a great place to be...nothing serious ever happens here!. i hope you're doing well x
Thanks for sharing Dave… Best wishes to you and yours…
Hi guy's....is there a chance to have a gpx file for Strava with this trail?

Magnifique, merci !
Ah lovely 😍

Nice Tae see the good auld Waverley again.

Great video, lovely walk up there!
The hill behind the lochan is a good walk too.
Looks like you two and Bear thoroughly enjoyed your wee donner up Tae the lochan despite the cauld.

I'm looking at the rain there while I'm stuck indoors with the air conditioner on full to shield us from the 42 degree Temps. I'll be in Arran in 2 weeks and can't wait for some light drizzle!
Gosh, 42 degrees. I've never experienced more than 30 degrees before, and anything over 20 is too much for me! yes, drizzle isn't as bad as it sounds
Hi Dave, saw you yesterday in the co-op at Brodick after you'd been on this walk. Hope the brush you brought was up to bird table cleaning!
ha ha, yes I've been using it. very nice :-) and despite my fears it only cost £1.50. My birds are well chuffed!
I've said before you have a natural affinity with the local wildlife. I've heard them snuffling around in a garden before, but not as noisily as they. Looks like a 'domestic barney'! Or is it a lady playing hard to get😂
i think she's playing hard to get :-) he is pretty determined though
Great video. Some naturalist will know why they are behaving like that. It is great to see that they are still around .
Kildonen
It's Kilmory beach this time, not far away - just past Kildonan
Wow Dave, didn't know Hedgehogs made that sound. You're so lucky to have them in your garden! (I'm Joanne who said hello to you at the ferry with my bike on Saturday) 😊
Yes, I remember you :-) I didn't know either. I'd heard that noise a few times at night (I live in a caravan so noises are easy to hear for me) and wondered what it was.
Love that song. I've got a couple of funny stories about train trips myself. Thanks Dave.
Everyone seemed to be enjoying their day. I know nothing about cricket so it wouldn't matter who won.
Yes, the rules were very flexible I'm told :-)
The suspense is brilliant...thank you 👍 A new hidden corner of the island ....intriguing advert ☺....carry on doing what you do so well !!
Aw cheers. Yes a lovely wee place to go on Arran 🙂
Looks calm 😊
Well, the Troon boat went no bother. The Lochranza boat was 'on alert' but managed ok, and the Ardrossan boat diverted to Gourock as the berth at Ardrossan was unsuitable in the adverse weather conditions.
I guessed that you were somewhere up behind Corrie because of the deer up that end of the island. What a lovely wee place to stay.
High Corrie ? I went up there but felt so guilty as I felt I was walking through peoples gardens . I did not know yo could walk through .
Yes, the way things used to be, open to everyone and the animals
The Alfred doesn’t belong to Calmac , it’s on from Pentland ferries
Yes Calmac has chartered the Alfred from Pentland ferries until 21st August 2024.
Thanks for taking the video Dave, wanted to go but got covid so had to stay home
Absolutely loved the Pipe Band. Brought a tear Tae ma ee. Thank you so much Dave.
Tell those Boys at CalMac the live cam at Brodick no working 👍
Almost see our house if you zoomed in much more
Are you down in kings cross Dave😉🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Yes, at the fish farm beside Kings Cross
squeeze labelled with love 80 or 81. do up the junction next lol
ha ha, yes I remember that one. Some good songs they did. :-)
Labelled With Love by Squeeze - like your version too 🙂
Quite right :-) and very kind, cheers
It's a lovely but sad song, Dave...and I don't think I've heard it before! Great idea for a solstice celebration!
Yes, very sad and makes me a bit nostalgic as I remember the song well when it was in the charts. Really liked the song, catchy and nicely sung by the original artist...he had a great voice and a good range too. I was living at home and would've been 16 at the time, different days! :-) I hope you are doing well
Love it but don't know the original. Thank you Dave.
Aw thanks Margaret. I remember it well, a big hit in the UK when I was a teenager :-) I hope it's getting warmer for you soon now the Winter Solstice has passed
A beautiful, peaceful summer evening in a precious part of Scotland. Though summer doesn't officially start till tomorrow 21st, I believe. The gaggle of noisy seagulls is nothing to do with fish. It's the natural audible accompaniment of the whole breeding, mating rivalry and defending the nestlings processes. Just like people, really!!!
Lovely pink sky. A picture of peace and calm.
Yep this is the video Dave, thanks its amazing. I did a great walk on Arran today and theres tons of heather thats not quite in bloom, so going to do the walk again in August. This video of yours is gorgeous!
Great video Dave. I was over on Arran again today, beautiful as always. (I spoke to you at the terminal a few weeks back), I just wanted to ask if you know the approximate time of year, (maybe within the next month?) Of when the Heather will be in bloom? I remember you dud a video I think last year standing near the String Road and you videoed the heather, wondered if you knew when that was? Thanks Dave. On the Alfred now heading home 😊
Good memory! 🙂It was recorded on 22nd August last year so I guess that's the answer. czcams.com/video/lfI40dlkUfk/video.html
@davetheraverovingtherock thanks Dave, that's the video, excellent thanks so much! Loved your Glen Iorsa one recently. I walked that last summer. Absolutely beautiful!
Dougrie lodge and the river is private for fishing lovely walk down there all the way up to machrie 😉
Didn't get it..
Congratulations Dave. It's quite an achievement but I don't know what to think. Do you have too much determination or are you a bit nutty.??
I got another one tonight. That's 4 in the last 4 runs 🙂
A rare sight....such a ship in calm waters......stunning.....but how do they get ashore to Lamlash ?.....and spend their money ?🤔
They have some small boats that take people ashore for the afternoon
Ah stuck it out to the end- cos I wanted to see Loch Iorsa- haven’t done that walk either!!! The views up the Glen were spectacular weren’t they? so worth the extra time and effort n blethers. Thank you for sharing
Yes the glen was amazing :-)
Glad that you and Grampa Fatty enjoyed your walk but I think Bear enjoyed it most of all.
OS map out and following you again. Nice one!
Balamory
Ah, well it does look like Balamory, or Tobermory as well :-)
