    WHICH CREDIT BUREAU DOES BARCLAYS USE?
    - Barclays used TransUnion for my business credit card application. Results may vary based on location, though Barclays tends to favor TransUnion.
    MY CREDIT SCORE / CREDIT REPORT - AFTER
    - My TransUnion credit score decreased from 804 to 800, a decrease of 4 points.
    - My inquiry count on TransUnion went from 5 to 6, an increase of 1.
    - My New Accounts & Average Age of Accounts had no change as Barclays business credit cards do not report to your personal credit report.
    A FEW MORE THINGS THAT ARE GOOD TO KNOW…
    1. I first got this American Airlines credit card in Aug. 2018. Closed it in Sep. 2019. Time since closure = 33 months (2 years 9 months).
    2. My last Barclays card was the Wyndham Rewards Earner Business, which was opened in Oct. 2021. Time since opening = 8 months. Recommended to have 6+ months between Barclays applications.
    3. I made sure to use my 2 existing Barclays credit cards for a variety of transactions in the month prior to applying for this new American Airlines credit card.
    4. At first, I had a moderately high utilization on my credit report (~42%) from my Chase Sapphire Preferred card. So, I paid off that statement balance & let my new utilization get reported (~2%) before applying for this new American Airlines credit card. A big factor in credit card approvals is how much you make compared to how much you owe (i.e. your debt levels, which may include debts from other credit cards, mortgage, student loans, auto loans, etc.)

    Sometime ago, I decided to apply for this same card. I tried Barclays before and I was rejected every single time. At the time of application I was under 5/24 because I wanted a couple of Chase cards. After getting the Chase cards that I wanted, I went for a business card not really having a business at all, just the idea of it. After I pressed the submit button, I was expecting a big fat rejection from Barclays for the Aviator, but to my surprise, I got *immediately* approved! Three weeks later I got approved for the Wyndham Earner (for that one I had to call). Anyways congrats!

    Hi Mark, I just applied for this card about two weeks ago! I also got approved but was lucky and got the instant approval online. This is my first card with Barclays and I think may have been my first inquiry on Transunion (almost every card I've applied for before has pulled from Experian). I was pretty psyched as I fly frequently for work, and over half the time routing through DFW via American. Can't wait to watch all those points hit my account and enjoy the upgraded boarding. Will have to try for the Personal Aviator card some ways down the line as well.

      _"You will receive 80,000 bonus AAdvantage miles and a $95 statement credit after spending $2,000 on Net Purchases within the first 90 days of your Card Account open date. This one-time offer is valid for new accounts only. Existing accounts and previous cardmembers with accounts closed in the past 24 months may not be eligible for this offer. The bonus AAdvantage miles will be reflected on the billing statement in which you have qualified to earn the bonus. Please allow 4-6 weeks for bonus AAdvantage miles to be deposited into your AAdvantage Account after the qualifying purchase(s) have posted to your Card Account. The statement credit will appear at the close of the billing statement after the qualifying purchases post. This is a limited-time offer and may be canceled at any time without notice. From time to time, we may offer bonuses of AAdvantage miles or other incentives to new American Airlines AAdvantage Aviator Business Mastercard cardmembers in connection with an application for a new card account. You understand and agree that you may no longer be eligible for any bonuses and/or incentives in connection with a new American Airlines AAdvantage Aviator Business Mastercard account after this Card Account is opened. If you receive a bonus or incentive for which you are not eligible due to your status as a current or former American Airlines AAdvantage Aviator Business Mastercard cardmember, we may revoke the bonus or incentive, or reduce your AAdvantage."_

When I’ve checked the application status it says I was denied, but they haven’t even pulled my credit yet. I’m wondering if I should just apply again or if I have to wait 30 days to maybe get out of their system. I’m going to call tomorrow and try and figure it out, though. I totally forgot about this version the the AAdvantage card. Where I live in the north east, just outside PHL, American Airlines is based out for PHL so it is my go-to airline as they offer non-stop service from PHL to the most common places I travel to. (Southwest does offer service as well but I don't like their check-in/boarding process so I stir away from them). I have been eyeing the CITI AAdvantage card but I keep hearing and reading about bad things about point redemption or transfer or lack there of. When I went onto the Barclays site and saw this card, this is actually the product AA promotes in the terminals lol. Only thing I can't seem to find is the tier of Mastercard and the Travel and Purchase Protection this card offers. CITI discontinued all of theirs with the exception of Luggage and and Trip delay coverage (I think). So I'm curious what this one offers because I may consider it. (These benefits are often over looked BUT extremely important in the event of an emergency)

    Do you know when the $95 statement credit would trigger? My application was in review and called them up, like you did, and was able to get approve. I met the minimum spend requirement a few days ago, but wonder when that credit would activate. Thanks.

      Not sure. I was approved back in June & the AF was charged on the first statement. I haven't received the stmt. credit yet either. I'll call & ask.

    • @MarkReese
      @MarkReese  Před rokem +2

      I spoke with an agent. Apparently at the time I applied in June 2022, there were some system issues causing the statement credit to not get posted. That seems to be my case (I got the 80K miles, but no statement credit). So the agent will need to apply it manually. I recommend calling Barclays via the # on the back of your card to see if you'll need to have the same thing done.

      @@MarkReese Thanks for the details! I'll definitely give them a call. I got the 80K miles which is visible on the mobile app, but surprisingly I don't see it using the desktop site. Their portal definitely isn't as feature rich as AMEX or Chase.

    The main flaw with this business credit card (and others by Barclays) is that it reports to your personal credit. Barclays is notorious for this method of credit reporting. In fact, they do not ask for EIN at all; only the applicant's SS# is required, which means they have no interest in reporting to any of the business credit bureaus. It is a shame really; based on my current credit standing, I am overqualified for Barclays cards, and I could have had multiple cards by now.

    • @MarkReese
      @MarkReese  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey osikanii - Barclays business cards to not report to your personal credit report. I've had 2 so far; neither were reported. I expect the same for this 3rd one 👍 Regarding EIN, it's true that there was no field for that, and the SSN field said a valid U.S. SSN was required. Unsure if you could use an EIN instead.

    • @osikanii
      @osikanii Před 2 lety +1

      @@MarkReese Oh really? They do not report to personal credit? That is interesting. It means they do not report to personal or business credit bureaus, which will make it a hidden tradeline. Is that right? Navy Federal business credit card is one example of a hidden tradeline; it does not report to personal or business credit bureaus; the only time it will report to any of the bureaus is when a delinquency occurs.
      If Barclays doesn't report to personal credit then I'm ready to apply to apply to them right now. I'm interested in the Jet Blue Business, Wyndham Business Earner, Hawaii Airlines Business, and the AA Aviator Business.
      Wow, Mark, you have been a blessing. Thank you so much. I have always wanted these cards but have been reluctant to apply out of fear that they might report to my personal credit.

      @@MarkReese Okay, great. You have been a huge blessing. Can you identify the two Barclays business cards that you had already? @@osikanii - I had the same AAdvantage Aviator Business before, and now I have the Wyndham Rewards Earner Business still open. I called recon and was still denied. I also recently got the US bank altitude go & want to go for the Amex platinum next, but don’t want to be 5/24 with chase. Would you suggest I wait a few months to have a year of credit history and reapply with chase or just go with something else?

      Hi Ariana - congrats on all those approvals! For Chase, I'd first learn the exact reasons for the denial, then based on what you learn, create a strategy from there. If it's simply due to an insufficient credit history, and if you really want another Chase card, then I'd continue building until you've got 1+ years of credit history before reapplying.
