      Doleta Wood This is the reason why there is so much turnover at my current workplace. Our company is currently going through an exodus, and the office looks so barebones now. So much gossip, so much backbiting, and overall nastiness, that many of the honest, hard working people are either leaving (like myself), or have already left, leaving behind the dregs of the company. There is no communication, and a ton of secrecy! Morale is at an all time low. The managers also engage in this behavior, and promote it. You’re right, gossip is a cancer. All it takes is one person to get it going before it spreads and entirely wipes out an organization.

      Many many years ago when I first started a job there was a bunch of women sitting at the lunchroom gossiping about their husbands and I sat at the other end of the table way far away there was two tables and I said that the one alone and they asked me to come over and I said no and they asked me why and I says I don't want to hear but you talking about your sex life and behind your husband's back and they didn't like me but I didn't care I was a young girl just starting into the world of employment. When you snip it in the bud right it's under no circumstances that you want to listen to crap the lady alone and even if they criticize you so what stand your grounds be brave and even if you have to keep to yourself and be cordial don't ever give them anything to talk about and sometimes you'll get the narcissist that will try to let you get your guard down so that they can weaken you and what they do they put trust in you so that they do not look like they're a threat and so they'll start asking personal questions and it's up to anybody to say look it it's none of your business or I don't feel comfortable with that I'm not going to answer that because if you let your guard down with some of these people you can be sure that the use that and then go back to their original gossipee ways

    • @Anonymous_Anon882
      @Anonymous_Anon882 Před rokem

      @@BL-rb7jm The gossip I despise is when it involves spilling rumours/personal details about people who are either minding their own business or not known particularly-well to the gossipers. Depending on the interpersonal proximity and degree of confirmation that this-or-that thing actually happened it may or may not be fair enough but workplace-gossip (especially when it only serves to fuel a narcissist/notorious gossip who’s obviously completely-incapable of keeping their mouth shut) is poison. I don’t think awareness of it is as desperately-needed quintessentially (wilfully or otherwise) lacking as it was in the first half of this year (I think people have learnt) but it still exists. Fuelling a notorious gossip with (confidential) information that’s beyond what they would ever need to know can ruin someone’s life, it contributes to gaslighting and it’s generally very poisonous. I find that managers and assistant managers generally move with reasonable discretion but the lower-down employees who have some sort of authority over other people in their jurisdiction (and sometimes it’s just-plain newbies) can be a nightmare. People like that (sometimes it doesn’t even matter if they’ve worked for the N.H.S. or-not) don’t realise the damage they do and the seriousness of breaking the code of professional confidentiality just to have a good gossip.
      I don’t mind overworked wives henpecking their husbands. It’s healthy within-reason to complain about people in your environment who annoy you, whether they’re flatmates, spouses or cousins.

    Hand your negatives up and your positives down! Works both ways, too. I had a boss who would gossip about her employees with her favorite manager, including me. And it was about the dumbest stuff, like the fact that I don’t eat the way she thought I should! I worked as an order processor at a grass seed company - my lunches are irrelevant! And her manager would root out crap to bring to the boss to talk about, like it’s a game. Yet she was shocked when I put in my notice. I couldn’t work somewhere with a manager that smiled to my face and laughed at my back with my boss.

    What happens when you work under a leader/manager or boss that's exposes everyone and hurts people all in the process of building a business, how could you trust that manager/boss that you are suppose to take instruction from and trust in a working environment.

    And it continues paragraph 12 to basically eat quietly.
    Second Thessalonians chapter 3 verse 11, 12. Yeah it's in the Bible can you believe it it's very destructive and it's likened to murder because if you tell stories about somebody and they're not true and it goes back to the person it could cause some severe anxiety and it could cause them depression to the point of suicide it's like somebody that goes on the internet and Bully said 13 or 14-year-old kid with their gossip and and threats it's not good I keep away from trashy people like that

    I give people three chances and I think that's generous and then if they screw up and talk behind my back on the third time they're out of my books permanently I mean I forgive people but I'm not going to have people step all over my pearls because I don't throw my pearls onto swine people who are backstabbers who could care less about me or value me as a human being I value people I treat people kindly and I have patience for them but as soon as they start talking behind my back watch out that's it I've been around this world long enough to know what I want in life and how I want to be treated when I was younger growing up I put up with a lot I was hurt I was a victim and I was a victim because of my own stupidity and lack of knowledge and ignorance will know that I'm older I can't use anything as an excuse to put up with garbage anymore my boundaries are a lot different and I don't allow people to step over my boundaries I set them at a certain distance and then that's where they stay and there's nothing wrong with protecting yourself there's that little boy or little girl inside of you and maybe people didn't respect you when you were younger maybe people walked over you maybe people were mean to you and that's that little girl that's saying please protect me or that's that little boy that's saying please protect me don't allow anybody abuse me and gossip is a form of severe abuse.
    So what's the difference between physical and emotional abuse it's all the same in different degrees and it affects everybody differently sure but it's still abuse you think of for instance Amber Heard and Johnny Depp she abused him by nagging him to death and not allowing him to walk away and go into his man cave and think for a while every man needs to have a space to think it rejuvenates him and he becomes a smarter man he can think clear but if you're hounding a man and you're nagging nagging nagging at him all the time you're going to ruin your marriage you're going to ruin your friendship whether it's your husband your boyfriend your brother whatever and so it's called and psychology reactive abuse.
    Even Jesus left to a place to be alone to pray. He didn't ignore the people he just needed to talk to his heavenly father and rejuvenate and get the strength that he needed. He was a man a perfect man but he still needed that time.
    So just be careful what comes out of your mouth because you can't bring it back and when you swear and you gossip it's like rotten fish that comes out of your mouth and who wants to see decayed rotten fish and I think there's a reason why God gave us two years in one mouth

If he maintains his position, then take it up with the boss over his head and bring the issue to his attention. If that doesn't work, then you may have no other recourse than to resign gracefully and professionally. In other words, don't make your personal issue with a boss EVERYBODY ELSE'S issue in an unprofessional manner.
