- This is my full guide on how to go Flawless in Trials of Osiris as a solo queue player. It can be difficult, and it's less about getting the right teammates and more about BEING the right teammate. Average trials gamers unite! It's extremely easy to blame teammates and go to the next game, but some players just don't know better. Thanks for taking the time to explain simple tactics that will increase the odds of someones flawless journey. Great video sir!
the thing is, pvp isn’t rocket science. you play passive and team shoot, and stay grounded, I’m sick of teammates running straight to mid jumping and essentially being a sitting duck for the enemy and they do it EVERY… single… round. And to make matters worse, they’re giving the enemy more special ammo, kill clip and super energy per kill. If teammates would stay alive I can confidently 1v3 every round, but I can’t be expected to do that when I’m last man standing and getting pinched from every angle. I need someone to create a diversion, if you lack gun skill ok… just position yourself behind cover so the enemy can see you on radar and get pressured. Map control is the most important thing in a PvP match.
That or maybe Bungie shouldnt make solo trials an rng fest matching me with a 0.5 every match against sweats
idk, it's kinda hard to carry a .4 and .7 against a 2.5 when I don't play very often
@@SnoozzeYT Agreed, but if the .4, .7 and you all stick together and team shoot or just play zones, it is much easier to beat a 2.5 sweat. Hope you have a good day!
Me trying to do that in trials every week but the ability spam says otherwise @@PoobahParker
Pro tip from one of the guys who feels like it’s always a 1v3: don’t over expose yourself when you choose to start a gunfight! Too many times I see my teammates peak lanes and have no exit plan for when they get weak. They commit to a gunfight in the open knowing they don’t have the best aim. At least hug cover so a better teammate can easily res you for numbers advantage. Asking to teamshot is too much to ask as it requires good movement and awareness of surroundings which most players seem to lack. Which is why you may get tunnel visioned and easily die from other angles. Make yourself a hard kill and go towards zone. If it’s heavy round GO PLAY HEAVY with your teammates. Sprint towards good angles asap after you spawn in. DO NOT wait in inventory bc you are losing positioning advantage. I’ve faced 0.6 kds that make themselves a hard kill and spray something like an auto anytime I peak and prevent me from pulling off a play. That’s the type of player you want to be.
This. Play by cover. Even if you die it makes resurrecting much easier than smack dab in the middle of a lane or open space.
Agreed!
It is WILD how often solo queue players start out a round doing stuff in their menu/inventory or afk. This act is a massive disadvantage for the “inventory-douche” player’s team.
A message to those “inventory-douche” players: No, changing your loadout extensively will NOT help that much. It’s WAY better to start the match being active, right from the first second. And if you’re one of those players that insists on queuing up when you KNOW there’s a high probability that your parent, spouse, or child is going to need your attention during the next ten minutes - FUCK YOU. Seriously, wait to queue until later when you don’t have such responsibilities, or just play casual/quickplay/PvE.
Is Trials SBMM? Because I am beyond frustrated. The enemy team is ALWAYS better. Period. I've played maybe 100 rounds. The enemy team without fail will 5-0 us. Every time. I always get kills. I always get 1 or 2. But im no Frostbolt or cammy cakes or vangaurd. I cant 1v3 and clutch. And the people on my team jsut rush the same point. Enemy team peaking with cloud strike? Better also challenge that with a hand cannon and get blown up. Always the people on my team are absolute garbage. I literally cannot take it anymore. Just one match, I want competent team mates. I have never gotten more than 2 wins in a row.
@@djbreal87you sound like me. I got four wins straight once though. I usually lose 4 before winning one.
The first step to becoming a winning player is accepting where you are as a player, I myself lost hundreds of matches in trials (I am not kidding in the slightest like 400-500 matches with a win loss ratio that was ridiculous, and an efficiency of around .3 I am not kidding) now I do decent and I’m up to 3 flawless cards all earned, no begging streamers for carries or anything, I would still say that for a trials player I’m just below average, but I am to the point I can hold my own and I’m improving over time. Videos like this are absolute gold every time I watch one of them I usually watch several times because there’s always something extra I gather that I miss the first couple times. This time helped me realize what an actually good flank is, it has to be fast enough to actually be helpful and therefore probably means not quite the big 90 degree angle you’d normally hope for, the timing is crucial, and to many times I’ve arrived to late, not anymore after today, thanks vanguard.
“The difference between getting a good teammate and BEING a good teammate”. This right here is the mindset that saved my sanity when I first came across your content. Appreciate you, TV.
Also, the bit about being ready to pivot just now has a stuck couch and Ross screaming “PIVOT” in my head. Thanks for that 😂
Main thing I try to do when playing solo is find the better player on my team and stick with him, then mildly target the better player on the other team to team shot, usually if you’re playing with weaker players they’ll follow your lead based on pure confidence
You are lucky, see, I actually get vegetables, like man I’m talking about pure bots who play by themselves like they are some god when they are the weakest d2 player active
@@ricardocorreia1373no seriously, the amount of braindead, absolute troglodyte level shit I’ve seen my trials randos attempt is insane.
I thought for sure the zone caps faster with more people.
I think they do but I could be wrong.
The reference to The Two Towers is both hilariously accurate and totally practical as advice for Trials. WELL PLAYED
This is the content I originally subscribed to your channel for! You've always done an amazing job at breaking down PvP tactics. I've become a much better player thanks to your tips. I've gone solo flawless the last few weeks because of all the things I've learned from you TV. Keep the content coming. You're the best 🎉
One thing I’ll mention as a lesson I’ve learned…..doing the right thing alone while your mates do the wrong thing, isn’t necessarily the right thing. Best to stick w team mates even if they’re not necessarily taking the right action.
Use them as bait...
I suppose that logic can work because the "wrong move" is working alone, but it becomes the "right move" because there's two or more of you doing it instead. It should work, until you get cloudstriked or ticcu'ed at the same time.
Had this issue with a particular duo this past weekend. If the zone was outside, they'd go in. Inside? They went out. It drove me nuts the first few rounds as I'd push to a good angle in the zone area and end up running for my life as I soon realized I was all alone. I started playing patient with them and we won a 5-4 that had 5 supers in the final round. Wild game
What if they both go a different direction every time? Lol
I mean I know this debatte from League of Legends, sure another genre etc. and more of a teamgame than destiny or any shooter etc. But I disagree, you have to do always the "right" decision, and with time you gonna improve.
Thank you TV. This game is so overwhelming for me and clear objectives like these really help me find some focus. Your guides have always given me hope for this game. I wanna get better and you don't know how valuable stuff like this is. I need teaching and you're very good at it.
These kinds of videos are what brought me to your channel back in your D1 sniping 101 videos! Great content as always.
I haven't played D2 in who knows how long, but I've been watching your vids since the early D1 days and your channel is always one I come back to and watch even if I'm totally out of the loop with where the game is at these days. Keep up the good work :)
I really appreciate the map overview...you should incorporate this idea in the future...kind of like a play-by-play breakdown with the telestrator for football...nobody else is doing this
It’s funny you post this video with this topic after I just went solo queue flawless for the first time ever this past weekend, great tips and very useful when put into practice!
I think this video is actually really helpful! I've been too nervous to solo que for trials for fear of driving myself mad, so I believe this helps
Long time fan. Always love your content. Thank you, you've helped me a lot with both Destiny 1 and 2.
This is the trials content we need.
Thank you TV for the one video, every D2 solo player should watch♥️
I started solo queuing mainly because that's just how I play, but now it's become a challenge to see how I can better improve. Thanks for the tips!
Excellent commentary and instruction! The graphical examples are great for further depicting the concepts, and the intentional choice to encourage gamers to look at “what can I do better” versus blaming others is a top shelf “S” tier perspective we all should have more of. Love the video my Brother! @TrueVanguard
Incredible content! Love the attitude and deliberate thought process.
it was cool to run into you in Crucible again. I remember being hyped about getting into a few lobbies with you back in d1
Love these videos - glad you're back 🙂
Lmao bro, your description about teammates taking a detour through Fiji really resonated with me. That’s exactly how I feel sometimes.
Having said that you’re 100% right about playing around that
Most chill and uplifting way to say "get gud"! Thanks for the tips!!!
Awesome vid man! Lots of folks are gonna find good advice in here!
Best advice I can give for 3’s - Always stay close with your teammates and play your life as best you can.
As much crap I give you about stuff, I'll give credit where credit's due...you're doing the lord's work with this video. Hopefully some people will pick up a couple things with this info.
Good content and advice. Love it man keep up the good work.
Great gameplay and solid tips TV 👌
Thanks for these tips man
Good vid and tips. I think weapon pairing tips are good too. Sometimes I see a teammate with a scout rifle and long range auto rifle on my team and scratch my head. Your weapons should/could try to complimentarily cover all ranges, or be sure, to stay out of a lane you have no business in. running a mid range primary with a strong ohk fusion/shotty/sniper or forerunner/smg/close range sidearm will cover a lot of different ranges. Obviously run what your comfortable with, but a scout will not melt an smg user in their space 9/10 times. Another tip. Load into a private match and study the map a bit if you are truly unfamiliar (not likely for how long the maps remain the same lol).
Hey TV, when you're starting the trials weekend and trying different builds, are you immediately resetting your card on a loss? Or will you play out a flawed card?
This is my favorite video TV has uploaded this year.
Im gonna be dropping a link to this vid in the game chat! Thanks TV! The community needed this one! ❤️❤️🔥🔥
Appreciate the video!
Loved the LotR reference! 😆 great advice!
Super helpful, TV, thanks!
I loved this! I’m an above avg player on all shooters! Platinum, on here overwatch, 1.8 KD COD etc all solo.
not the best but pretty good and you’re right I could be a better teammate. not just get mad ppl aren’t as good as me. I know everyone isn’t going to be as good as me. so if I play I need to accept that and do better 😮 sometimes we need to get called out thank u
Great video! But we also need these build craft videos too haha
Thanks for this handy trials video during IB week. ./s
Nice Glaive gameplay! Do you have any tips?
I’ve been trying to make them work again in PVP but haven’t had consistent results.
Would love more videos like this!
Trials need a loser lighthouse wich you can enter if you lose over 500 games.
that uruk-hai bit was spot on
That knife at 9:10 though. Poor void titan had no idea what he was in for
i feel nothing lol
I really want to go to the lighthouse just once. I have been playing for years and see improvements, but usually get 1 or 2 wins...highest was 5. Great ways to be a better team mate.
Don't give up it took me 500 hours to get to a point I can go flawless in pvp went from a witherhoard ape negative kd every game going positive and top frigging almost every game it takes patience but you can do it keep in mind mercy gives you 2 losses which means statistically you can go flawless
Thank you TV I have recently learned the hard way. But I also finally got an ignious lol
Love your vids man
I really try to stay positive but every weekend I’ve been checking the stats of my team after I’m done for the weekend, I find that 90+ percent are negative KDs and players that do exactly as your described about running laps during the match. I don’t understand the match making anymore but I really hope it changes.
Why don’t people do what you’re doing TV this is very helpful & never really thought about it like that & opened my mind/eyes a bit more in what I can be better for my teammates
It was a tough weekend for me 100+ games (even ran a game with Jake and fizzle which was neat) but I did finally
Go flawless, for those struggling found that the last day is usually easier for running cards. 1 thing I've noticed this weekend, is that some player's tend to do the same play everytime at the start of the round. If you peak a snipe lane and get picked and procide to challenge and get picked again the next round, that should tell you not to challenge that lane, play your life , don't risk the other team out playing you everytime, change your approach, never do the same play twice , especially when its not in your favor. Don't be predictable, play with your team even if its not where YOU want to go.
This is actually great advise
The preview screen with enemy exotics and weapons is valuable to determining the likely threat model of a match. If I see a titan melee exotic paired with a shotgun, I know that opponent is going to push hard. If I see a strand or void hunter, I have to pay closer attention to the changes on my radar.
Thanks for the tips
Very Good 1 for the algorithm Thanks
I feel like knowing how your teammates are playing very much helps too. When I'm with really hard pushers it's very hard to play slow. Maybe they are the problem when every round I'm left 1v3 but who knows. Thanks for the tips man. I will put these things into play
I played with a guy who was "doing free carries" a while back and I was playing all slow with a scout and he railed on me for not pushing. I was the only reason we won any matches because him and the other guy just kept pushing and getting a shotgun to the face. I told him if he was going to say he can carry people, he needed to know how to play the game mode. Ridiculous.
Great Vid TV any help i can get in trials is appreciated 👌
Great tips mate...👍
We all love Legalis, im trying that strat of yours
Hey TG I just wanted to point out having multiple people on the point does in fact make the point cap faster. And not just quicker but drastically. If you are able to battle it out and win or bounce on and off the point. You will drastically speed up the process of capturing points. I am top 500 with 150 solo wins on console this weekend. And the point being captured faster is what made a lot more of my games swing towards the win.
I love that you have almost 300k subs now
As hunter main, i usually stick close to best player( never me in trials😊) what spec gives him/her best help? Spam treadlings? Stasis, tripmines?
Great vid TV, I've been all the way solo a few times but need to work on being more consistent and confident in myself during this process, I'll work on executing this advice on the upcoming Trials weekend and probably watch it again Thursday
Great video. I'm one of those players that attempts to be a good teammate. I've been flawless a couple dozen times, at least 20 of those solo. Unfortunately, I'm not good enough to carry brain dead players, but can usually not blow it for good players unless the other team is cracked, then I always seem to get picked. Can't tell you how many times I'm behind a good player, using cover, but get a sniper to the dome when the shot misses the guy 20 feet in front of me but I'm the loser. 😂
Can I say my favourite thing when playing solo is using things I like as apose to meta builds, it makes me worry more about how to make my build work better or how to use it better as apose to my teammates if that makes sense. Keeps my head in the game lol. It also is fun making wonky loadouts every weekend.
Showdown is in rotation this week. It's a good play list 3v3 wth revives . Not as much pressure
Please more videos about tactics on pvp!!!
It was fun matching you (I was the blink warlock that ate your knife at 9:08).
gg's!

Awesome video
Ryan you cheeky dog, you think we forgot about your old "Cold Spear" build for flawless trials, but we see you!
im always playing with the thought process of unless im in the middle of the gunfight and am the gunfire i need to head to the gunfire thats been my general theory when playing destiny is that im failing my team and teammates if I'm not in the gunfight with them. once we get someone down (unless comp survival) play off that person always have a line of sight to that res in some way while you watch an angle some can come to it and make sure your not watching the same angle or at least have a different perspective on the angles that people can come for the res, and that res needs to be immediately behind or Infront of you. once you can do that and just have halfway decent aim and land just a little bit of hits you can easily help team shot to victory.
Well said TV.
I`m gonna go flawless ! thank you TV :)
Got you on my team for one, against me on another. You were shredding with that glaive man
gg's!
Good tips
Thanks, TV! I’m guilty as charged on a number of solo queue mistakes so this was helpful 💪🏼
Actually played with you this last Saturday morning. I didn’t realize who I had as a teammate until I rez’d you in round 1.
::Wheeze has revived TrueVanguard::
“Wait, what?”
My very own “look Ma, I’m on TV!” moment…
Congrats, that is cool! Everytime tv says: see you in the crucible i answer „no, please not“, but as a teammate i would love to see him. 😛
What is the name of the weapon you were using the second spear like weapon?
This is alot helpful than people like grenadier jake just saying "get good"
🤣🤣Great info but the best part was the "...don't be an Aragorn."
Great advice, but this works best with mixed skill levels. If you have or are the lower skilled teammate, you can work around your team and push for success.
There are plenty of times this is not possible however. I had plenty of games this weekend where the matches were simply un-winnable. Looking at the team-balancing and seeing opponents had 98-100% chance of winning is a bit ridiculous. We had game with double bronze and a silver vs two platinums and a diamond. The skill gap was just enormous and made it truly impossible to take a round. We celebrated if we even managed to down an opponent.
Not at all discounting your recommendations for the record. It is all stellar advice and things that I'll definitely be taking on-board in most of my matches going forward.
So I never tried trials of Osiris I played season 5 then left and came back season 17-19 then left and came back just this past season so. This is my second weekend I solo queue a flawless with the first passage.. so 6 wins technically but damn I’m impressed.. it’s fun ngl I’m decent but it felt easier than people make it out to be.. first weekend I lost my last match so I was close anyway what do I do now that I got flawless and went to the lighthouse already
What's the roll on your gaive?
I am one of those duds. That's why I don't play Trails and have been spending more time in the SBMM Competitive playlist to try and get better.
Dude, those knife kills at 9:00.
Great video! I try to be a good teammate in trials. I don't do any flanks unless it's a 3 vs 1.
Glad you commented this. Trying to be a good teammate is an awesome goal, and I can see how flanking may appear to factor into that. To be honest, it's a great tactic, and when used properly can be devastating to the opponent, yet I wouldn't necessarily suggest it in the situation you are describing. The reason why is because in the short time you are taking to do your flank, you give the enemy a chance to counter-strike more effectively. When you leave the 3 v 1, the battle you left becomes a 1 v 2 for the few moments you're going on your flank. The problem with this is that one of your teammates may go down. Let's say your opponent snipes one of your teammates while you're halfway to the flank, or gets one with a primary, if your opponent is skilled, they will notice you flanking (especially since D2 has radar) and push your other teammate (since that fight is now a 1 v 1). Now, if you are trying to control a res, flanking could perhaps be the way to go, just be careful to use cover well and not overextend so that you aren't picked off and tip the scales back in your opponent's favor. Also note that when solo queing trials, your teammates may simply be unaware of when you are going on your flank (going solo adds dimensions to the game), and because they don't have the backup they think they have, they may go down, and then it becomes a 1v1. I've seen this happen to players many times. They go on a flank against a skilled player, the skilled player kills both their teammates, and they're left wondering how it happened. The explanation above is how, and it's a quite easy trap to fall into.
Also, any player that is highly skilled and has great situational awareness will be happy you went on a flank. If they haven't picked off one of your teammates, they will use cover to hide from your teammates and take care of you since you are by yourself (potentially even pushing you with a fair deal of aggression). Always remember that in a 3v1 situation, the goal of the skilled player is to catch the teammates far apart so that they can win three 1v1s (something like a sniper also gives them the ability to do this without exposing themselves so much).
In a 3v1, the best tactic is usually to control the lanes and res's as TV said in the video, or to do a coordinated push as a 3 (or 2) man squad on that one person. This is another thing to pay attention to when soloing online. If a teammate launches out towards an enemy that is alone, LAUNCH OUT WITH HIM (unless there is good reason to do otherwise - Examples: You see the opponent has a super, you are too far to get there and be with them as they push, etc.). By launching out with your teammate (and attacking at the same time - don't use something like a sniper), you are maintaining the integrity of the 3 (or 2) v 1 scenario. If your teammate goes out there and gets killed, the enemy just got what they wanted, namely, a 1v1 against your teammate, while it could've been a 3 (or 2) v 1, and they are one step closer to clutching the round.
Sorry if this reads a bit too long. Really just trying to help lol. Hope I achieved my goal. Play well and have fun!
@@one-il5fu well my thoughts on 3 v 1 flank is that if we are all chasing one guy, even if I tag him a little and die it will make it easier for my teammates to take him out. Of course it's always in my mind to know where his dead teammates are too.
@@CBlaze That’s an interesting way of looking at it, but the problem you’ll run into is the variables in game. When solo queuing, you don’t know what teammates you’ll get. They may not push the guy after you weaken him, and that will just leave time for him to recover and prepare to fight them at full strength. You also have to be aware of the fact that if the skilled player sees you flanking, they may meet you and kill you far away from your teammates (which means they won’t have a line of sight to finish the opponent off before they regen their health). It’s always best to go towards the option that leaves less room for things to go wrong (especially when solo queuing). If three (or even two) people push at once with concentrated fire (or concentrate fire on certain lanes), the single opponent stands little chance of surviving or making a clutch play.
I'm a terrible PVP player who only plays Trials to get whatever PVE weapon they have (GL last season, it'll be for the trace rifle this season). I know I'm not going Flawless, but that's fine, I normally play on double XP weekends. My strategy is always to just hug the best player on my team and try to help, but where I really run into issues is when we spawn in and all 3 of us are just kind of standing there looking at each other. At that point none of us know what we're doing (I barely even know the maps and certainly don't know where people like to camp) and it's just an easy wipe for the enemy team.
I'm an average player. I've only gone flawless in Destiny 2 while playing solo. Here are 3 things I try to do in each game.
Rule #1 pay attention to he game type. If it's objective, play the objective. If it's regular elimination, don't be reckless.
2. Be aware. Know where your opponents and teammates are, and use the radar
3. Use the right weapons. Trials is about winning, not trying to use your favorite weapon or having fun. Example? If you're not hitting EVERY SHOT, don't run a sniper with a bow for primary and get smacked because you have no close range weapon to counter a shotgun
I played with you my flawless game(no mercys)! We won but for some reason my card went flawed even tho I only lost 1 game and left another(my teammates both left me after losing round 1 😢). It was cool tho I got my flawless next card!
I was Zquilmushroom
It looks like your builds were your standard stasis builds for both your hunter and warlock. Is that true? I've been trying so hard to get even past 5 wins, me and my dad skills with the 1.1 KDA
Anyone know what glaive Vanguard is using in the beginning?
Well said.
I went solo flawless for the first time 🎉😁 strand threading spam was very annoying to play against tho.
I find if I'm running longer range weapons, it's better for me to play babysitter on the bodies and let the smg do its thing. It's boring but works. Usually, i find the guy that dips for the revive.
honestly feel like you could start or be on a destiny podcast and it would be a hit
If the Threaded Spectre hunter uses his Igneous Hammer he may give me some trouble...
I’m a strong player, but not elite. The game really seems to think I’m elite based on lobby balancing and the frequency that I find myself in a 1v3 15 seconds into a round.
Any tips on how to work with teammates that lack patience or awareness?
From one Dad to another you’re such a Dad. You can tell from your videos you want players to get better. 😂 👍
2:43 unless you are SUPER confident you're gonna win a snipe, PLEASE never peek right.
The sniper was already posted and left side has peeker's advantage, it is something to think about on spawn and varies on importance based on map.
So if you're laning or playing ring around the rosey, force them to either have to turn or peak right on you.
