My advice is to never rely on teammates. Assume they will die immediately even with superior numbers and will not team shoot. Make sure you account for that in your positioning and engagement choices.
I'm not joking when I say that I booted up momentum control right after watching this video and topped the leaderboards like three times thanks to *listening* to your advice
I love these kinds of videos TV! As someone who enjoys PvP in that casual-hardcore middle ground where I'm playing for fun, but want to improve at the same time, these videos are super helpful for someone like me. Plus a lot of this knowledge can be taken into other games not just Destiny.

I absolutely LOVE momentum control as a former Halo Swat aficionado.
I love that people can’t lean so much on their radars. I’ve always loved staying off radars in games that have them.
The thing that kills it for me is the increased weapon damage

Thank you for videos like this. As someone who only dips into alternate game modes for seasonal challenges but otherwise sticks to control, this is a super helpful way to help fast track improvement.
Headphones are a must, turn in game music off turn fx to Max reduce Shax's shouting down, reduce chat volume as low as possible and start to listen closely not just in momentum.
I always check what shut down supers there are at the start of the match and then if I have to just before I pop mine.
Play with someone worse than you sometimes and tell them what's going on in the game or pretend your telling someone.
Monologuing your game makes you realize what's happening in the game, these things helped me most.

I love Momentum, the only reason why I have a Seventh Column to my name lol. Love me some no-radar, instant-health-regen, chances-to-let-off-meta-weapons-shine gameplay.

Everything you said is so true. I’m getting older, my reaction time and my geriatric mechanics thumbs don’t move like they used to. Games sense is what allows me to stay a little bit above average in the crucible.
Well that and my knee brace, solid while leather New Balances, and my Metamucil.
Same with me, I must add Hot Flashes and mood swings hence I can rage-quit a match or laugh myself off while getting shredded.

Yeah, especially as an older player myself, it's really hard to process everything on screen quickly, and to build new habits. I got really turned off in D1 by friends who told me "but it's obvious, it's right there on your screen" - when I clearly can't see everything on screen at once. But even then over time as you get used to it, your brain starts to recognize and absorb more and more information passively. I think from a training perspective it's not fair to expect yourself or anyone else to wrangle everything at once, but to focus on one area at a time until it becomes second nature.
@@devoltar Same here. I’m happy with incremental gains. There’s no quick fix but if you put in the effort in specific things you can see improvement.
Thanks for calling out the weapon choice. I learned the hard way in momentum control that certain weapon types just play better and that I'm not as averagely good as I thought

Love the information! I also wanted to lend my support for your Iron Banner critique. It is another half baked mode that doesn't do what they intended for it to be. I have now played enough that I know which side will win after the first drop. Oddly enough, it is usually the side with the three stack. Go figure.
I had taken a pretty substantial break from pvp up until iron banner came out this week and I decided I was gonna get the shader. Ended up playing around 60 games and I could actually feel myself doing better as the games went along. I don't think my aim got any better, I think I was just paying attention to more things and noticing patterns and placing myself better
I think rumble is good. Makes you see enemies on the map and make mental tallies of their location and spawns. Helped me learn how to disengage. The other thing was using weapons that are bad in the meta or that I am bad with, so that I had to pick smarter engagements. I hate relying on my teammates to teamshoot, but sometimes you just gotta let the blueberries do their thing and wait for good engagements.
Still learning how to play against m&k movement (im on controller). That and ability spam have been the biggest pain points recently
Went to play back Momentum control to complete the Moments of Triumph PVP ritual weapon kills and I had a lot more fun. Plan to grind it more then IB this week!

Several buddies and I have noticed the last two seasons audio cues in pvp have been fairly inconsistent especially in 3v3 game modes. Great tips overall!

I love momentum control. One tip is you can see the enemy’s bullets, if they’re firing a pulse or assault rifle ahead of you and across your fov you can zero in on them round the corner.

The radar takes song long to appear when going in ang out of ads
Lowering your sensitivity is also good (controller) You'll notice yourself getting shot in the back a lot, Forcing you to position differently to avoid getting got. 7-10 is fast enough for you to slide shot corners
Good advice, but only letting one enemy see you doesn't work when one of the ones that can't see you banks a witherhoard shot at your feet.
I may play momentum just to hopefully see connection quality like in these clips. Iron banner has been hell because at least 1/3 of the lobby is always playing off the McDonalds wifi of Guam
I’ve been sniping for the last two weeks for the first time in a long time. And my awareness of my surroundings and the engagements I should challenge/avoid has gone way way up. Maybe sliding with a shotty or baiting with a fusion wasn’t helping all that much lol. Well, not helping as much as sniping.
True game sense in destiny is knowing to play the cbmm playlist over the sbmm one 😂

I wish the TTK in destiny was like momentum control. The game would play ssooo much better in my opinion and would be more fun (it's still fun for me)

I just don’t think I have good spatial recognition. I constantly do not know I’m turning a corner to be duo’d or more. I think this might be why other games have a more specific radar that notes individual players. Overwatch, you should be playing together and they have really strong noise signals, so it doesn’t need radar.
They give these details in gambit and crucible and yet people still end up confused on what to do. I don't understand how the game has been around as long as it has and this still happens

Fully agree. I could write an essay to expand on your issues and agree 100%. Except maybe you were a little to forgiving to people who are being paid well to develop a game and are failing on most sides. If PVE people are moaning about paid for content. PVP should be starting a revolution. Bungie decided to go free to play. Ie they were making enough to keep all aspects of destiny up to a certain standard. But they havent. They havent even kept paid for content up to standard.
I wish van would do a motivational video on how to file taxes. I'd legit feel more confident about it lol

@@irosencrantz882 I have a decent roll, Rangefinder/Rampage, but I prefer Syncopation personally. The extra zoom helps a bit.
