  • We're back with another flat bottom dripper review! Brewing with the Suji Wave is quite fun despite its small size. What would you like us to review next? Leave a comment below!

I recently bought the chihiro version of the suji. I thought only the design was different but the chihiro version had one big hole in the middle instead of three small holes. I think this allows for a faster draw down time thus you can grind finer! :).

A few tricks: pre-wet with room temp water, preferably distilled, and focus pouring only in the center let it spread itself. 100ml is usually enough and for sure you can drink this water later. I dont like to waste water.
Another one is to put two or three beans under the paper filter to speed up flow and you can grind finer. From my tasting, two-three beans wouldn't affect the overall cup quality. Easier hack is just not to use kalita paper. It's way too thick and old school.

Thanks for sharing! The 2-3 coffee beans suggestion is rather wild but I'm going to try it hahaha
What other paper filters do you recommend besides the April filters?

@@wideawakeph3662 Try brewing/steeping 2-3 beans in a 100-150ml water first. See if you like it. For me, it's very mild but no where unpleasant, mostly sugar browning notes. Yeah, the method probably won't suit serious brewing but it does the job for daily coffee.
For me, still April or Suji for wave paper. There are other local non-branded but they are too erratic. Haven't tried the timemore tho. I'm trying the bamboo pulp paper made in Sangyo Co, Japan just today, soo..dont know yet.

Thank you.. i have same issue ‘bout deforming paper filter shape after pre-wet… and they (SUJI) already released another upgrade version with 9mm hole in the middle

could it be that the retention thing is to prevent the overextracted coffee ?

3 x 12g = 36g coffee per day. I used to do that. Until I got anxiety hahaha.

It's a plastic kalita 155 basically. Suji is an oem based in my city. They do primarily glass stuff, they make excellent glass decanters, servers, cups. If I'm not mistaken for the Indonesian market they make the glass april dripper.
