Nice review. I backed the wave 3 kickstarter and i have a few bottles from wave 1. The green triad is about a million times better than the citadel caliban->warpstone glow->moot triad for Salamanders.
I've tried a couple of the blues, they are pretty decent and thin well for glazing though I do still use more Pro Acryl and Citadel, since they are easier to get.
I know it wasn't the main topic of the video, but I agree with the Pro Acryl tips being a bit messy. The worst thing is they sell alternative caps on their website that are more in line with the industry standard. So they created a "problem" and are selling you a solution.
@@ondarkendwings What makes it worse I don't know a single person who prefers their standard nozzles. So the obvious solution should be to swap them all out at the factory.
@@Bloodfencer1990 I understand what they were going for as it is based on tradiotional art supply nozzles. Winsor and Newton have a load for glaze mediums and such. But they also clog up over time aha.
I basically sum them up as "Citadel - but better," especially if you prefer that more satin finish to your models. I've seen a fair share of complaints about their bottles though... but that was a lot to do with the first wave coming slightly overfilled which would lead to these 'eruptions' of paint when you started using a bottle. Would I like a softer, more transparent plastic for the bottle? Sure, but I really like the kind of 'two stage' closure of the cap. Twisting that cap until you can feel the nib under the cap push into the hole in the nozzle, and then being able to give it another full turn is just oddly satisfying for me. It's like, a reassurance that that bottle is properly sealed when I'm done with it. I even remember one person complaining about them trying to "reinvent the wheel" with the dropper design, to which I pointed out that it's actually just an off-the-shelf product made in the UK. In fact, Humbrol had already began moving their acrylic line over to the very same dropper design the year prior to the Wave 1 Kickstarter.
Great review. Very insightful ❤
I really love these paints. I’ve got both wave 1&2 and have wave 3 pledged. The metallics especially are so good. 😊
I hope you enjoy them! It's a fantastic range.
Thanks for this insightful review! Might get me some glazes and/or the metallics!
Glad it was helpful!
Looks good. Might get me a couple for trying out.

It's a great range but it's not always the most available. And I do already own alot of paints. The glazes and washes really sold it for me though.
I bought wave 1, missed 2. I'm on the fence about spending the cash on them at this point, since I have a ton of unused paint already.
Yeah, there's not much use in getting more if you already have paints to use.

🙄 Yeah, it's daft.

I love the formula but have had issues with leaky tips which il admit has made me reach for them less. It’s a shame because lovely paints.
