"It tastes pretty good."
Finally! What painters have needed for years. THIS should have been the marketing push for this range.
That one comment in the video made me feel like I was among family. This is the understanding I've craved for so long.
I really hate it when you find a great colour, but the paint tastes awful. An important factor for us brush-lickers.
This is definetly something that we need to talk about, how paint tastes. Thanks Jon!
I'm glad I'm not the only one that can taste the difference between paint companies.. BTW, old school GW tastes better than new GW. Yes, I still have GW paints that are 20+ years old and they taste and work fine.
Get off my lawn, you whippersnappers.
@@shanline I've still got one that's just over 30 years old. But the fact it still works should probably make us worry what's in it, and how much has been consumed over the years...
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being "Same colors as GW but better, cheaper, and in dropper bottles," because that's all some of us want.
It is not cheaper but more expensive than GW, check the prices.
@@ARandomPerson66 citadel colors would be 7,63 $ for 15ml and two thin coats colors are 4$ for 15 ml. Looks cheaper to me doesnt it?
@@klauskeller6380 £2.30 for Abbadon Black, £3.54 for Duncan's paints and that's from the GW webstore and Wayland Games so you might have found a decent deal
@@klauskeller6380 where can I buy these or is it to late (I tried to find them online but couldn't pleasee help)
@@klauskeller6380 GW's webstore has their paints listed at 12ml for £2.75, and on Wayland Games Two Thin Coats are £3.54 (discounted from £3.95) for the exact same amount. That really doesn't seem all that much cheaper to me, even taking into account the (small) difference in the amount of paint you get.
Duncan Rhodes is the Tony Hawk of miniature painting.
He even looks like Tony Hawk.
Lol now I can’t unsee it
Oh wow, won't be able to unsee that now. Now the tony hawk soundtrack will play in my head when I see him.
Just FYI, Scottish laws prohibit the purchase and ownership of "souvenir plots" like established titles offer, not only that, owning such a plot of land does nothing to qualify you for lordship. So essentially everything established titles claims is a lie, and they're also owned by a Chinese company specialising in internet scheme companies. You're basically buying an NFT, minus the non-fungible part, and it gives you no new legal rights what so ever. :P
Fine, i wont sleep at 1am. Ill watch a new Ninjon video.
go bed
@@flubjig903 now that i know the paints taste good, i can sleep easy.
I find myself up at 330am watching the new Jackie Chan adventures cartoon 😅
Haha! Right with you brother… 😅
U australia too? 🍻👊🐶🥰
That BEEEP over the curseword, with the word still clearly audible killed me. I love it.
Yes, yes, yes please paint the whole box set! Just ordered mine and can't wait. Would love to see your take on the rest. The demon prince looks phenomenal! Especially the skin tone wich I'll definitely try to replicate
Dito!
How do you order? I’m trying to buy the set too but can’t find an actual buy link?
@@dylandavies9297 might still be able to purchase on GW site or LGS. Just check all over the place
@@dylandavies9297 one of my go to online Hobby stores had it up for pre-order, I don't know if they have stock left and don't know if a German shop would be helpful for you anyway, sorry
Considering how often I have "by accident" ingested pain while miniature painting or painting in general I'm glad it tastes, and I quote, "pretty good".
Truly what I needed for years.
Damn, i wonder what pure pain tastes like.
Hey dude, just wanna say, established titles is a chinese company using the "souvenir land" scam and you legally own no land, and legally do not classify as a lord, neither do they provide proof of any reforestation, as they don't prove donations, and their plots are on protected forests already. Remember to always exercise due diligence when accepting sponsors.
this, there's a bunch of resources to back this up, be careful with sponsors mate
No response from him in vids or community, there's no way he doesn't know though, not surprised, average youtuber tbh
The good news is absolutely nobody gives a fuck about youtube sponsors
Caveat emptor
I'm no expert, but your painting has improved dramatically Jon! 💪
Just here to reaffirm your life choices, you're killing it, every time I watch one of your videos they flow seamlessly and I get the information I want without having to scroll through the video, I actually want to watch start to finish, keep being awesome
Hey Ninjon, love your content and that was a fantastic review, really appreciate a practical application rather than just colour swatches. Just wanted to let you know that established titles are a really sketchy scam company and you should be really careful taking sponsorships from them, their advertised products are totally false. Stay safe
its so mad how much of the heavy lifting an air brush can do, it always impresses me. just think of having to do that initial red and browns with brush. awesome model Ninjon
Great video. I always enjoy your candor, humor, and straightforward no bs approach to the hobby!
been using duncans paints for a few months now and they are increble, so smooth and great coverage
Just wanted to say thanks for the great content @ninjon! I just started painting …like last week and I’m terrible but already getting better and your advice about getting out of the “prep” stage and to just start painting was exactly what I needed to hear!
I kinda want a channel just of Jon and friends doing mini hobby related comedic sketches... Opening sketches are a hoot.
I am a big fan of your army painting videos. The way you break down a huge challenge into manageable steps and get it done so fast is always great to see!
Transferring paints from pots to dropper bottles is a pain. That savings proposition in itself is quite valuable!
Man I was wondering when your next video was coming out. So far you are my favorite painter on CZcams. Watching your videos has been helping me improve
The intro for this video is hilarious. Honestly any army painting video is cool. It really helps to me learn when I see how great painters get models ready for tabletop.
Wow, I've been watching your videos for a long time. I think this paint job turnmed out so great. It's one of my favorites that you've done.
Great video! An honest delivery and mentor video! Love your stuff Jon!
A wonderful paint job, excellent review and crisp editing, great video thanks again!
A good and well balanced review Jon. Thank you. I too will look for these as they become available online.
I used to paint mini's waaay back in the early 90's, back then they were only just switching over from metal to plastic, we'd amalgamate 3 Space Hulk game sets into one and play until the early hours, I still have a few kicking around but watching your vids makes me want to pick up a brush again, I love your art style, explanations and the amount of detail you put into each project.
Do it! Get some paint and a brush.. it will feel good.
Yes , would love to see you paint the rest of the box 😊
I love how Auspex Tactics said the face of the Demon Prince looked super derpy, and here we have J-brush making a menacing face. It's all about the paintjob!
Have to agree, GW has a number of models which would look a lot better with a different paint job. On the other hand they have some models where the paint job is so good you can't judge how good the model itself is.
Which one? They have like 4 or 5 heads. I'm sure people will find some derby and others tasteful to them.
@@jakea3950 If memory serves then the one Ninjon ended up doing is the one that people find derpy, according to AT.
@@matan8074 So true. I remember when Lelith's new model came out and how people thought she looked ugly and stupid. That was until someone other than the box-artist did a paintjob on the model. I'm an absolute amature, but I know that a little change in colour and highlights can mean a world of difference.
Auspex doesn't exactly have the highest quality opinions on youtube.
You did an exceptional job! The color scheme is very good and I really like the base! I would love to see you paint the rest of the box!
thanks .. always enjoy the painting videos - and the review of TTC is handy too!
Bruh, I can't say how much I love your brand. Of the dozens of (quality, lovable) hobby content creatores, yours are the ones I find myself laughing the most on. Excellent humor. Keep on keeping on, my dude.
Keep them coming Jon!! Great review and as always great paint job!!
Jon, I really love your skits but this opening skit has to be my favorite. You're a funny guy my man.
I honestly don’t know what it is or why it is but Ninjon has quickly become my favorite CZcamsr in the hobby. CZcams algo keeps putting his videos high up in my feed and I just keep clicking. Keep it up dude!
Paint the rest of the box! These models are awesome and I'd love to see your take on the Chosen. Great work on the Prince!
You are awesome this was a paint range I was curious about, but just as you said, it didn't say that it did anything extra well. Now I see where their market is. Thank you so much. I love seeing paint range testing.
Love the demon paint job and the review of the Two Thin Coats range. It was nice to see them in actual application.
I appreciate the lengths you go to in testing, I always need to know how they taste as well.
Great video as always and the sweet 80's style montage music was a nice touch.
Hi Ninjon, Love the video. In every video, your paintjob is much better! Awesome work ! 😊
Love that video ! I would like to see you paint the rest of the box, it seems a great idea and the models are great too ! I also really would like to see your take on some Sylvaneths, maybe with ink/heavy washes techniques, or anything you'd like in fact, your content is always so great and so interesting. Thank you for your video !
I'll be waiting for next weeks video. and Thank you for this one, you gave us a nice, impartial opinion about the 6paints.
Would love to see this continued. Also I've been VERY happy with my TTC paint set since it showed up last month
Finally I get some great info on these! Ty
Love the way you beguile us in your videos its almost like take that comfortable squat letting go a load… just feels right, like your vids. New fan here and cant wait for more.
Jon, you are an awesome painter. I always impressed with your painting, truly impressive.
It resulted so nice. Especially the red gore base followed with light bluish gray. Will definitely try it
I'd love to see lumineth realm lords. Especially techniques for speed painting them.
Lovely paint job, great work.
I say keep going with the box set. I love your art style and humor so watching your videos is super easy.
I have this set, and I am excited to use it. Great video.
I have liked the colors I have tried out so far. The consistency is solid between hues and lies somewhere between MSP and Citadel. The Triads are not complimentary as you yourself stated especially when compared to Reaper's triad system which is. Leadbelcher is a tiny bit darker when compared to TTC's silver metallic shade color as I discovered in my own unboxing/comparison video of this KS. My plan to really put these through the paces is going to be using the entire set to tackle a few dozen Battletech minis to a high tabletop standard. Because of the many sharp edges on these minis I will better be able to gauge how they handle. Thanks for the always interesting content dude!
I'm excited, I KS this as well and can't wait to use these.
You've definately got me interested in the range. Cracking paint job as always
Thank you! Great video! You've merged paints review and painting tutorial! Clever! Definitely continue with the Slaves to Darkness box. I would like to see how you do the Ogroids.
Need to add little bitty thin mint boxes to all of my Nurgle army.....
I have tried the paints. They are quite nice. What I really liked are the accessories, especially the colour wheel tied to triads within the paint set. If you are in to Colour Theory, or want to look beyond the individual triads this helps a lot.
I need to learn about color theory
The energetic music in the intro was very exciting and I listened to it and it got me excited so I'm excited now.
love that intro! fantastic. love the transition music too!!
I also just got my Slaves to Darkness Box and I have been using the new Duncan paints for a couple of months now. Compared to my old Army Painter paints these have quite simply made me a better painter, love them!
I bet Duncan's are solid, but almost any paint is better than AP's colored pond water they call paint.
@@odeegrotsniffer4166 lol, sure
@@odeegrotsniffer4166 its sad that almost all of us started with AP paints. Im still working through mine. I thought hey what a great deal. Lets get the mega set lol. Hate to just trash them but once you get ahold of another brand its hard not to.
@@jc7997aj AP metallics are great, plenty of the game color line is good too. just look at the paint bottle, what you see is what you get
@@SNDKNG I find AP metallics to be hit or miss. I have a dnd bronze that’s great, but their bright gold gives me fits
Really enjoyed the video Jon. On the triad system I get where you’re coming from but I think it could have real value for beginners or those that find choosing colours to be a stressful process and need a bit of guidance
Lovin that 80's electronic music starting at 5:32! Nice touch!
Saying this entire video was more or less an Ad for Duncan's Paint, you made it easy to watch. Thank you.
I remember back in the day when you'd get like 40 comments and used to read them all. Now look at you over 400. Bravo man. Bravo.
I got addicted to watching your videos! They are really fun❤
when it comes to a TRIADIC COLOR SCHEME: it means to use 3 colors that lay across from each other on that nice color chart they sent. Like orange with violett and green. Usually variations of one of them for most of the painting/miniature and one just as an accent
Now I want to see a Masterclass for this paint job. Amazing!
Ninjon as always thank you for your content
I'm happy to hear you feel the same about painting wings hahaha. I love the build up from a warm colour to a cool colour; I'm a sucker for juxtaposition.
yeah ive given all my other paints away, i received the full set of duncan paints but didn't start using them until replacements were available. these paints are simply amazing, love the dropper bottles too
Wow! Look at how Ninjohn paints! Wish I could paint like that. Been painting for 20 years now and nowhere even close to something like that
Nice work, thank you for the content
Hey man! This is my first time watching and I was a bit sceptical of your chosen scheme at first. But holy moly. You knocked it out of the park! This DP look excellent!! Great work!!
Thank you for the review. I think I will be picking these paints up when I need new "GW" paints!
Would love to see the rest of the set get painted!
:)
This would be a great army to see fully painted! Keep up the good work Lord Jon!
I'm impressed with the packaging ... and that paint job is pretty dang good as well!
Do not be duped by those bogus "Scottish Title" certificates. You are not known as a lord or lady, there is no ancient Scottish custom, and you certainly do NOT own any land! See Section 22 of the Land Registration (Scotland) Act 2012 which specifically precludes the registration of souvenir plots, and in Scotland if the plot isn't registered in your name you do not own it. All you are paying for is a made up title that no one will recognise and a fancy bit of paper that has no legal meaning.
Duncan is a real one.
He wont lie or over hype his product.
He just deliver.
Next time I play any of my friends chaos factions I'm going to be using that intro idea! haha. Great video as always, thanks for the honest feedback about the TTC paints and your demon prince looks amazing. Look forward to seeing what's coming next week also! :)
Just assembled one of these last night. cant wait to paint it. Also I would love to see you paint up a Slaves to Darkness force.
It's nice to see a more affordable paint line that is using colors matched to Games Workshop, this will give WH mini painters more options. Plus it does seem like a nice line of paints. Personally going to stick with my favorites, but this looks good for folks just starting out too as they are nice dropper bottles, and the colors seem spot on.
I would love to see your take on painting a ravenguard army
Thank you for acknowledging the secret desire of all painters, a set that actually tastes good!
Thank you Lord² Jon! For both, the honest review of this paint range and for how to become a Lord.
I had the pleasure to test some of Duncan's paints at youmacon this year and by God they were amazing
I really love watching your videos, you even found a way to make showing wet blending easy enough I’m not scared to try it one of these days. As far as what Army I’d like to see you paint next: does it have to be GW? Because I’d really love to see your take on Saurian Starhost models from OnePageRules’ Grimdark Future. Or some Ratmen from their Age of Fantasy range. Thanks for the great content, it’s much appreciated!
"It tastes pretty good".
That's all I needed to know.
I've had mine for a while now in Canada. Big fan. I like how they're in sets of 3. And how it gives you a Games Workshop equivalent.
See you still keeping with those colourful shadows from your craftworld studio paintjob. Nice work
Can't wait to buy these paints when they become available later down the line.
While I only started painting minis this year, I looked at many videos on how to paint dragons when I had a dragon mini that I wanted to paint. I tried two different methods, airbrushing the highlight color and then using oil paints to blend and create shadows, and I also tried airbrushing the base layer and then dry brushing everything else the way Artis Opus does wings. The dry brushing method turned out way better. It was faster and easier, and I ended up with a more highly detailed dragon, plus the blends from shadow to light and from one color to another were awesome.
That intro, 200IQ. I really enjoy all the new intros you have done.
The model looks great! The paint break down was also incredible as my pledge didn't come with that conversion chart 😅
Thanks for informing us about the alternative. If Duncan ends up making painst available outside of UK at reasonable prices I probably will think about switching to those as well.
It looks great man, definitely will give TTC a try
“It tastes pretty good”. Finally the paint review we always wanted
I got this paint set as well and I have to agree with the review overall. They are quite good and the dropper bottles with pre-loaded mixing balls are excellent.
They aren't going to unseat Golden SOFLAT or ProAcryl for me as my preferred paint but they are going to take the place of Citadel and Reaper as those pots/bottles run out.
15:01 R E S P E C T ---gonna watch your Bruch and Color Vids! You are ma hero!
5:32 "I hear the secrets that you keep..when you're talking in your sleep"
Hey Ninjon! A big fan here! Thank you for your job and motivation for the lovely hobby painting is. Could you do a mini tutorial of how to change the citadel paints into the bottles of the Vallejo kind? Cheers from Spain!
Great point about color triads a company that dose offer that is the Airbrush paints from Army Painter and I'm sure there are others out there.
