      look at that face who would vote for that. Actually, I can. Men don't have a choice as to wether or not they can escape the financial consequences of fatherhood. If MEN don't want to be fathers too bad, 18 years of compulsory child support. If a woman wants to escape the financial constraints of child rearing, she can do so by having an abortion and there isn't shit anybody can do to stop her as long as Roe v Wade remains. So let's drop the whole "abortions wouldn't be an issue if men got pregnant." Trust me, men who want unfettered access to pussy with no responsibilities that come as a result DEFINITELY benefit for abortion

      Well, dads cóuld run off. It's low and lame, but they cóuld.
      And women can't run from their fetus.
      Also, women don't like having abortions, they don't just go and have 'em each time something goes wrong.
      People feel guilty, people are afraid it might leave them infertile. It's painfull, it's traumatic and you can't always have it immediately, sometimes you have to wait a week, especially for emergency-abortions in another country, that sucks.
      I suggest you watch John Oliver's take on this.

      If men could get pregnant, human race and society would be completely different. But I can still foresee society being divided into the same caste and following the same trends. Some men would eventually become dedicated to breeding while others would be warriors. From there, they would effectively play the same role as women and take their place.

BOY WAS I MISINFORMED . ever since I educated my self in this topic I want nothing but more justice for these awful laws passing just because ppl are so j. Educated about it. sure I believe in God but I also believe in educating and understanding things OUTSIDE of it because it makes life a lot more helpful and a lot less hateful just because our (organized) religion wants us o hate it and not educate ourselves on it. His line is just not true. (An analogy is not reasonable if it's not accurate.)
      Those books he showed do NOT lose value if you take them out of the bags. I used to manage a comic book store. I bagged 'em, and I sold 'em, and if you don't chew on them (or something similarly stupid), you can read 'em and just slide them back into the bags, and they do NOT lose value.
      Not. Lose. Value.
      Are you saying it's okay for him to be wrong, as long as the people he's talking about are wrong, too?
      It wouldn't have been too hard for the writers to just CALL a comic shop and ask if their line is accurate before going with it. I know that, too; I'm a professional writer and editor.

    To be fair, as we've progressed as a society, the younger portion of the pro-life movement has progressed to care about things like human trafficking, child slavery, gun violence, cancer research, HIV/AIDS research, ect, in addition to the issue of abortion. However, a lot of those younger pro-lifers (or at least the ones I've been around) are very mixed on what should be done about abortion.
    While it is technically against our religion, I have no right to force my beliefs on anyone, ESPECIALLY when it involves their freedom, health, and safety, and many people agree with that. We think that birth control should be readily available for all genders, sex ed should be required in schools, and rape should be harshly punished. Then unplanned pregnancies will go way down, thus reducing the number of abortions WITHOUT infringing on American's rights.
    However, older, less progressive pro-lifers have destroyed the pro-life campaign with hateful, mysogynistic "slut-shaming", thus why pro-lifers have a bad reputation. We're not all that bad, I promise you!

      It isn't against your religion, though. That doctrine was staple-gunned to Christianity centuries later.

    • @MattHaku39
      @MattHaku39 Před 7 lety +4

      ObsidianDisorder Well, any destruction of life, or even the quality of life (again, AIDS, human trafficking, ect.) are against our religion thanks to the Golden Rule. But abortion was specified very recently, as you pointed out, and tacked on as "the most important issure evaaarrrr"
      As to your second comment, I do believe personhood happens at conception because conception is when the zygote is formed. A zygote has the same number of chromosomes as I do and similar genetic markers to me. So it is human. It just REALLY doesn't look like one.

    Also, overpopulation is a big issue so I think it's a lot better for only adults who truly want children to have them.

    I think this is all part of a bigger problem. A lot of kids today who are sexually active don't have the proper education to be cautious and safe. Whether you think sex ed should come from the parents or in the classroom is up to you, but for many kids, their best source for sex ed is porn, which is a massive problem. Kids need to learn about proper contraception (which should be more accessible) and the facts of sex so their heads don't get filled with misconceptions and hearsay.
    Also, the fact that shows like "16 and Pregnant" exist and are thriving is because many, many babies are being born to unfit parents, which is a direct result of what I mentioned above. Of course, there's also that contraception isn't totally reliable and accidents do happen. But either way, many babies are born to parents who do not have the proper resources to provide for a child.
    Now, they could put them up for adoption, but that's not really much better. With modern science making it possible for even sterile men and women to become fathers and mothers, adoption numbers have dropped dramatically. Even in the LGBT community, adoption is starting to take a backseat to surrogate mothers or fathers (also, God fucking forbid a child gets brought up in a LGBT household. They might as well be aborted if that happens (SARCASM!!!)). Adoption agencies are also severely underfunded, which leads to unfit foster parents who may not have even gotten background checks and overall poorer living conditions for children in the adoption system. There's also the possible psychological damage of a child getting moved back and forth between foster homes.
    My point? Pro-choice. It's not just senseless murder. There are many factors that go into it.

      I agree with you, but I have to point out that most women who receive abortions are married and cannot afford to have another child. The problem isn't sex ed, although I agree we need better sex ed. the reality is that by denying access to abortion they are just making people poorer, because families will now have to divide their resources even more to take care of another child.

    • @TheYasmineFlower
      @TheYasmineFlower Před 7 lety +5

      I agree with you, except when it comes to adoption. If you research the affects of adoption on the adoptee, you'll find that they are four times more likely than the non-adopted population to commit suicide, and they have an increased risk of substance abuse as well.
      Adoption does not need to be funded more. Mainly because it's a BUSINESS, as in, it sells humans for profit, no matter how often they call themselves "non-profit".
      Potential adoptive parents can pass a home study with little scrutiny, and the numbers of adopters who have murdered or otherwise abused their adopted children are _high_.
      Mothers get their children literally stolen from them, or get tricked into signing, sometimes even while they are still under the influence of the pain medication they got in the hospital.
      Fathers are constantly barred from access to their own children and access to the adoption proceedings, have to fight for years to get their children back (even if they are already the legal father!) and often their children get adopted out to sick kidnappers anyway.
      There are two LGBT couples I know of, two same-sex male couples, who have stolen children. One a Cherokee boy, and they succeeded in abusing him in the most horrendous way possible by stealing from him a life with his father and his father's family. Another a white girl, and the father, together with his parents, is still fighting to not only get his daughter (who was born into a marriage, he is the legal father and he has not been given his child back between now and her birth in January) back from those kidnappers, but who also has to fight to get his son back from Montana CPS (he lives in a different state), who are blocking the efforts of his family and the little boy gets abused in the process.
      Those people are a disgrace to the LGBT community, and I despise the light they throw on the rest of us by their inhumane actions.
      Adoption in the US, and in way too many other countries, is nothing but human trafficking. The US even legalizes that trafficking when it concerns kidnapped children from other countries who were sold for the purpose of adoption - yes, that happened.
      And all of that does not even include the fact that abortion is not the alternative to adoption and vice versa!
      An abortion means there will be no child. An adoption means there will be a child, but you don't know if it will be safe and loved unless you don't give it up for adoption.
      And by the way, adoptees are constantly discriminated against. They don't get access to their real (original) birth certificates in most US states (yes, real, because it's a BIRTH certificate, and that can't be real if it does not say the truth about your birth), and that can hinder them in getting a passport (!), housing benefits and other things they may very well need if they fall on hard times, plus the things everyone needs at some point.
      Adoptees are also not protected by the government through repeated check-ups and in-depth homestudies of the potential adopters, which is why so many of them wind up dead and/or abused.
      There are also adoptees that get "rehomed", a practice where adopters who find that they don't like the child anymore just adopt it to a different "family", which has a WAY increased risk of throwing the child into the arms of abusers of all varieties. About 70% of rehomed children are victims of international adoption as well. (International adoption is almost always corrupt and almost always child abuse)
      And this thing about unfit parents on TV shows? Honestly? How can someone become a good or better parent unless they are given the chance to first? If they need assistance, assist them. But don't declare them unfit before they even have the child.
      If a woman wants to carry her pregnancy to term, it is her right. If a woman does not want to carry her pregnancy to term, it is her right.
      And it is hers and the child's right to not be separated after birth just because someone else wants a child or just because someone else has declared the mother unfit to raise her own child and the child unfit to be raised by it's own mother.
      Please, educate yourself about what adoption really is. Look at the experiences adoptees had to go through. And don't just look at the fluffy unicorns and rainbows adoption stories or adopter perspectives.
      Read the dark and gritty reality accounts of what way too many adoptees had to go through and still have to go through.

    This is a great point. I've thought for a while that it's cheaper and less risky to save a fully grown human than a fetus. For all you know, the fetus could die in childbirth, or from birth defects, or it could be poor or depressed or maybe the future is super-violent and they'll get shot. But if you work to make the future a happy and safe place, then you can ensure that after putting two decades of work into a human, they'll be able to live long enough to pay it forward.
    But maybe that's the problem. Proponents of gun freedom don't care about the humans who get shot. To them, an unborn fetus that can't even form lasting memories is more important than a human with a family and friends and years of experiences.

    It isn't that much complex, in fact. The fetus is too far from being a human to put his rights over the ones from the woman and, very importantly, over his own potential future rights (as most unwanted pregnancies over the world end up in quite bad living conditions for the child, the mother and, usually, many other people involved). It's as simple as that.
    Also, as a biologist, it's quite evident that an early fetus, which is almost equal to that of any other mammal, has nothing to do with a human child. If it was about potential, then we should also protect sperm and ova, which have just the same potential. That being said, we still should protect it from suffering, as that doesn't interfere with the abortion, which is why they all should be done within the first trimester of gestation.
    Too add more to it, abortions will always happen in big quantity, no matter if it's legal or not. Many women die or get seriously injured due to that. That blood is entirely on anti-abortists.

      And for people who just don't want an embryo to be killed, it would seem like they should be trying to prevent that unwanted embryo from forming in the first place with proper education and birth control, but they oppose that too.

If anti-abortionists truly cared about what they claim to care, they should be pushing to support research in order to prevent that from happening, but they don't really care. I mean it seems like a stretch but its simply impossible to lack such basic understanding of logic. If you truly care about life then get guns out of the picture. I think(but believe me I wish I were wrong) They simply don't care, they're actors.

    Just to clear things up a bit. The 72 hour wait thing was implemented to give the women time to make sure...like absolutely SURE that they want an abortion. It's not because republican pro life supporters want to prolong a life for 3 more days? Also the 20 week thing was shortened due to how developed the fetus is up at that point. I also think it's kind of idiotic that Trevor brought gun violence into this. Just recently Obama took credit for brining gasoline down to "a buck 80" when he is apparently in support of clean energy and against international drilling. Both sides can be the same way.

    • @Thund3rDrag0n12
      @Thund3rDrag0n12 Před 8 lety +1

      +Mike Reip You do realize this came out over half a year ago, right? He brought gun violence into it because he's showing how the "Pro-lifers" only care about fetuses and don't give a flying fuck about you once you're born. Also, while Obama is supportive of cleaner fuel sources, that's not gonna change overnight. Gasoline is still #1 and will be for a pretty long while more. So while it is still at #1, might as well be cheaper, right?

  • @sophiadykstra2854
    @sophiadykstra2854 Před 4 lety +2

    The amount of gun deaths per day in America is about 0.083% of the average amount of babies killed by abortion per day in America. Noah uses the 250 gun deaths per day, which includes the gun deaths due to self defense, in which the victim triumphs. Low estimate statistics say that guns are used defensively 80,000 times a year, while high estimate statistics take that number into the millions, instances where law-abiding citizens protect the lives of themselves and their families from both criminals and the possibility of a tyrannical government. Abortion kills a child for the convenience of someone that had the choices of abstinence, birth control and contraceptives, and adoption; this is the greatest of unjust murder.

    I fully agree that it is wayyyy more important to save lives than save fetuses and I think it should really a woman's choice whether she wants to keep the baby or not. However, I do support strict regulations. I still find it morally critical to abort so limiting the weeks or having them wait after the announcement is totally appropriate in my opinion. I don't think that any woman should be shamed or looked down upon for having an abortion because I know there is often a hard choice to make, but I fear a bit that the mentality of the people is leaning towards "oh, don't worry, we can always get an abortion"

    • @DescargarInstalarPC
      @DescargarInstalarPC Před 7 lety +1

      It depends of the case ,if a woman gets pregnant for irresponsible sex I dont think she should be able to abort. It might not be a child yet ,but it will be if she doesnt terminate the pregnancy ,so the baby shouldnt pay for her mother mistakes. I wouldn only allow abortion if the mothers life is in danger or if she got pregnant because of a rape case

    • @hurbig
      @hurbig Před 7 lety +5

      Vor uns liegt Not in my opinion. By your logic, rape cases shouldn't be aborted as either, since it's not the fetus' fault that the mother was raped.
      Also, if the child is born to a mother who is not ready and not willing to be one, then the child will suffer and the mother's life will be destroyed forever just because she made a mistake once.
      Plus, it is sometimes hard to tell whether something was a rape case or not. A date rape for example can quickly be overlooked.
      And while I still think that you should just get a plan B if something goes wrong, things are often not that easy and in the end, we should be able to make decisions about our own body.

    • @DescargarInstalarPC
      @DescargarInstalarPC Před 7 lety

      Herr Hurbig
      lol did you even read my comment? ,I quote "I would only allow abortion if the mothers life is in danger or if she got pregnant because of a RAPE CASE" Since its a rape the rapist should take responsablity of the abortion and the woman should decide if she wants to have the baby or not.
      If you cant take care of a child then you should use protection ,if you didnt and got pregnant then the baby shouldnt die because of your irresponsablity ,you cant tell people that if they make a mistake and have a baby you can just solve it by killing the fetus. If she doesnt want to take care of him then she can give it in adoption and if he doesnt find new parents ,their biological parents should pay for the kid maintenance.

    • @DescargarInstalarPC
      @DescargarInstalarPC Před 7 lety +1

      Also ,unless you abort in like 7 ot 12 days you cant talk about "your own body" because the fetus is already forming its body which need the mother to survive only for 6 months ,after that he can live on its own so I dont think you can use "its my body" excuse

    • @ubermenschi1459
      @ubermenschi1459 Před 7 lety +2

      A fetus is not sentient until a few months after birth, until then it's as alive as your semen. Therefore morality is out of the question. After that it's none of anyone's business since it's a question of how the child would be raised.

Downing a bunch of pills still gives time to find them and save them, or they realize it was a mistake and call for help, jumping in front of a car takes a certain kind of person as well. Hanging as well. But shooting themselves? That is fast and nearly 85% effective. Gang violence? They are people as well, a lot of them young people who have had society shit on them.

    I do consider myself pro-life, because I do think all life matters and is valuable (even those who aren't born yet) and I think it's important to take care of people once they are born, too. There's a difference between actually being pro-life and just being pro-birth.

      I'm very scientifically minded, particularly biology, genetics, and embryology, so, strictly speaking, a fertilized egg is human life, so that's why, I guess. I was also raised Christian, and although I don't consider myself religious, I suppose some of my mom's beliefs may have rubbed off on me.

    • @thesarcasticshu4409
      @thesarcasticshu4409 Před 7 lety +2

      +Morgan Stiefvater I understand this is a late reply, but I don't see the connection to being scientifically minded as being pro life. That's not to say it's automatically pro choice either. I think it's more dependant on other things. I am personally pro choice and also scientifically minded, especially in biological fields. Because I've looked at the stages of development and seen the difference between a child and a fetus.
      That's not to say my view is more scientific. But, I believe this just highlights how it comes down to personal beliefs and to use that as a vague reasoning, either way, is inaccurate and just paints the opposing side as uneducated--whether intentional or not.
