    The secret to being a good rc pilot is to not care if you crash. Otherwise being very nervous accidents are more likely to happen.

    Hello Horizon Hobby your Built Series is so cool and helpful !!! Please built the Hangar 9 floats 1/5 and connect with the carbon cub 15cc + fly in ,that would be realy great! Greetings from Germany

    Maidens can be hard on windy days, Ali did a great job calling out what you needed to do to get it down safety!

    Hey guys love this plane and well done on a challenging maiden. Do you think there would be enough room to setup a smoke system?

    Great job. Loved the build, flight was spectacular. Great recovery, have to love the buddy box feature. Please get a set of the floats. Heard they are great but install is tricky. Would love to see an install video and flight test. Ordering this plane this week with same transmitter and servos you went with. Puting a hacker A605xs 420 with a 16x8 prop in mine. Obvously will have a tuned down thumb on the throttle. Want to land the plane in my ponds to fish with and have enough power to tow them to shore. Keep up the great videos and would love to see more on this model.

      How exciting! We do have a float set ready, so the potential is there for a video! First, we are going to show a gas conversion, then move forward from there :). - Kyle

    How do you pick these bigger planes apart for transport and storage? How long does it take to assemble and disassemble?

    • @horizonhobby
      @horizonhobby  Před 3 lety +1

      Almost all of them have removable wings. This model for example uses one 3mm screw on each wing and four cotter pins to hold the wing on. Its roughly a 10 minute assembly.

    • @Daniel_SWE
      @Daniel_SWE Před 3 lety

      As it take almost as much time to develop how to transport/store a model why not show it in the tech talks and so on? 🙂

  • @OhMySack
    @OhMySack Před 4 lety +1

    Kyle, if you catch this...the audio was pretty raunchy right at that moment when you nearly augered in. Did you induce a spin with excessive rudder input while in a steep angled x-wind turn? I was trying to pick up on Ali's comments as he was explaining to you to learn from it but I didn't catch it well. Man, to have Ali as a mentor? That's pretty sweet!
    I'm nearly done with mine but intentionally slowing way down to check and recheck in these final steps. I'm waiting till essentially finished with all building steps before programming AS3X on the AR9350 onboard. Btw...did you set up flaps in your radio as described in the manual BEFORE programming AS3X or is there a means to deal with the rudder throw arrangement in the app. I know we're not supposed to make any settings on control surfaces on the radio (New DX9 Black, in my case) but I figured the flaps were more of an on/off type of feature possibly not receiving interface with AS3X in the programming aspect.

    • @horizonhobby
      @horizonhobby  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes, that is a fairly accurate assessment! The rudder on this cub is massively effective to say the least. The flaps are all operated via my transmitter. You will still have to "tell" the receiver that you are using flaps, but the AS3X programming essentially ignores them after that. Just double-check everything prior to flight. I did lower the rudder travel within the Spektrum App (slightly). Did you already watch the AS3X programming video we shot with the Cub?

    • @OhMySack
      @OhMySack Před 4 lety +1

      @@horizonhobby 3 times now, I think? LOL! That as well as the older Spektrum series vids. I may be going after that task tomorrow. I was waiting for my Y-harness for the Flap channel which arrived today.
      Gotcha on the rudder warning! I'll take heed! That's why I wanted to clarify what actual happened. That sucker got away from you damned quick! It's the same in the full sizers I fly (25 years PPL). Always less than 30° bank angle in the pattern. In the heavy winds with my little foamer Cub, I just do rudder turns with little to no bank to reduce the risk. I'm far more concerned about this new one. Hot glue doesn't work as a fix! 🤣

    • @horizonhobby
      @horizonhobby  Před 4 lety +1

      @@OhMySack Glad to hear it. Reach out if you run into any issues.
      The rudder input was also simply an inexperienced pilot making an error. Keep in mind I only began flying in September 2018 and this was literally my first "balsa" flight with a giant-scale plane. I lean on the rudder quite substantially now... but in a much more controlled/precise manner ;). - Kyle

    Great video clip, spoiled because there was no muffler on the mike, the constant roar of the wind made it virtually impossible (at the start) to distinguish the commentary. Very unprofessional.

    That is not a begginers plane. Those windy conditions were not favorable for training. No matter what anyone says here. That is no way to teach/learn. The pilots excitement wouldn't let him be receptive as it should. Buy a Realflight sim and practice at home the basics, learn and memorize the aircrafts surfaces functions, use the simulator, a few hundred hours with different environments and maybe, just maybe, head to a flying field with a small foamie or glider to grow your skills Into it. Then you could use a big plane on those windy conditions. Otherwise, you"LL lose interest in flying when you crash and your bank account starts falling, repairing and buying parts...good luck friend.

    • @muskokamike127
      @muskokamike127 Před 5 lety +1

      Exactly what I did. Still crashed my bixler so many times it would no longer fly due to all the repairs.
      Is this his first plane ever?
      Bangood and others sell a volantix cessna type trainer with gyro for $50 USD. You fly it, but the gyro will level it out if you get into trouble..just let go of the sticks and you're safe. If you crash it? Big deal, get another one. Plus it's small so you can fly it anywhere.
      The bixler is a great beginner plane, I just didn't have any place within an hour's drive to fly it.
