TRIP REPORT:BRITISH AIRWAYS PREMIUM vs ECONOMY, BOEING 787 DREAMLINER LONDON TO SANTIAGO (14 HOURS!)

- I've recently come back from amazing travels in Chile. British Airways currently operate the only direct flight from London to Santiago - which is BA's longest flight at 14 hours long! I bought Premium Economy (World Traveller Plus) seats one way and Economy (World Traveller) the other and this Trip Report compares the two cabins/classes. It also looks - with jealousy - at Club World, which is a cabin up from Premium/World Traveller Plus! Anyway, this review video looks at everything from seats to legroom, to food, drink, entertainment, accessories, sleep and more!
6:20 The look on that lady's face says it all. LOL!! She probably had a drink on her tray and almost ended up wearing it. That's my pet peeve when people just throw their seat back without any regard to the person in back of them.

The Premium Economy in British Airways is great for extra legroom. Me, my mom, and my sisters took this airline to visit United Kingdom for Summer 2009.

Maybe next time have a little more respect for the passenger sitting behind you, no need for ‘throwing’ your seat back like that..

The only way you can eat and drink to abandon and NOT put on calories (!) is to exercise and I do a LOT of exercise!!

That would be quite something! At the moment we can only dream of flying round the world like that!
Actually, you could do it, since BA flies from London to Santiago, then SCL(santiago ) to SYD (Sydney) vía LATAM or QANTAS (Unfortunately Qantas and BA are not currently flying to Santiago due to Chile´s borderline closed by COVID19. I hope everything come back to normality)...Sydney via Qantas to Hong Kong, and HKG via BA to( London Heathrow) LHR. Greetings from Santiago, Chile.

Great review. I never eat plane food, but that actually looked nice (for a change!) I've never been on a 787 Dreamliner. I always get a 747 as I like those. Would you recommend a 787 Dreamliner? (I'm looking at flights where I may have to choose that plane due to times) Thanks
Do you know what, I love a 747, but I also love a 787 Dreamliner - both feel strong, sturdy and like premium jets - very smooth. I particularly like the lighting in a Dreamliner - I don't know if it's psychological, but it really does help me get over jet lag a bit better...I think I show the Dreamliner lighting better in this video but I'm pretty sure you would like a Dreamliner too: czcams.com/video/TeMViYCrcvE/video.html -

OMG me too - I have seriously fallen in love with that country. I could only snatch a fortnight to go there and there are SO many places I still want to visit. Fingers crossed, one day. It's just such a long, long way from the UK - it's not like I can keep hopping there and back!

Hi Jo. Have you ever been to any concerts? I’ve reviewed 2 concerts I attended. About nearly 3 years ago, I saw Machine Head at the ROUNDHOUSE and in January, over a year ago, I saw Megadeth, 5 Finger Death Punch and Bad Wolves at Wembley Arena.

So pleased you enjoyed the review - Santiago is often overlooked for Buenos Aires, but I LOVE Santiago. Fingers crossed once the world eases off lockdowns you will be able to go. Premium economy was very nice but no idea if it's classier than before as it was the first time I travelled it with BA on this plane - which was a newish plane however! For a long journey it was really rather nice...

Visit Chile, and you will se many things in common with UK though the language. Here there many UK´s companies and customes inherited form British culture. You´ll feel like home. Greetings from El Monte, Santiago, Chile.

I got upgraded to premium economy on the outbound journey (and snuck my daughter in with me lol!) but the rest of my family were in economy - so I tried those seats out too. And then the other seat was on the return journey, where we booked Premium Economy because it was cheaper than Economy for some reason - computer glitch?!

What's the comparison in baggage allowance between economy and premium economy? Thank you in advance
Hi there Michael - if I recall I think Premium Economy entitles you to one extra free checked in piece of luggage - a big 23kg one I think. But you better check to be sure. This flight was nearly two years ago now and my memory is slightly hazy with the nitty gritty of baggage allowance...
Good review but why does everyone have to film their flight nowadays. I was in club and people with cameras walking through filming???
Maybe it's just the flights you take?! I've not been aware of many people filming - but maybe they were excited about being in club?! All I know is that travelers are REALLY interested to see what their flight will look like. Airplane reviews are some of the most watched on CZcams...

Alas, I don't think so, not from London anyway. Perhaps from other airport? I know that with Norwegian Air Premium you get lounge access though...
I believe you have to be a member like so many airlines do ! Some allow us to pay fees ( expensive, though ! Like $50?? ) & let us in ,but I don't see that is really beneficial for us ! I'd rather spend that extra money for travelling costs or foods in the locals in my destinations ! Or pay it toward upgrading my hotel room ,or food ! Lol.💜🥁🎵🐉🎶🎤💞

At first I thought this was filmed in 2000 early ish, due to the poor resolution. Please use at least 1080p on iPhone/Samsung. Keep up with the blogging, it recommend you stay considerate of fellow passengers. Try to be more natural and less like a news presenter. Keep up the good work! Safe travels

I really watched this video many times to see details for my plan to go to Wales & England in the near future with mom ! Also ,to see if this lady was that rude to others ! 1stly ,I thought that way, too a bit myself ...,but I found this lady's attitude/ behaviors as typical English people with more openness & enthusiasm !! I've seen many rude English people & some rude Scottish people ,but hers isn't that bad at all !!! Yes ,she could had been a little more well considered & told the passenger behind that she was about to recline her seat ! But,who knows ,maybe she did & not in this video !!? But,either way that shouldn't be the reason to unsub or not to sub to her channel ! You could all had kindly reminded that or suggested that to her instead !
To me,the seats & airline's safety & reputations are No.1 reasons to select my flights with !!! As well as my budgets ! And I've watched about 50 videos of British Airways & Virgine & Delta all.combined so far & NONE showed actual scene of seat's reclinging ability / angle ,but her ! So ,I really appreciate her doing so !!
Reg.her touching the back of the other's seats to get back to hers ...,again ,yes she didn't need to ,I had been bothered by it before when somebody did that ,but it happens ! And again ,we don't know if she had a good reason to do so ,like some medical condition made her doing it !??
Even if not ,again ,I don't see it as a reason not to sub to her channel ,though if someone doesn't like her for those matters ,I'd understand it ! But to me ,I judge if the channel is good enough to earn my subscription or not is to do with the person's abilities to deliver good videos ,or not , in this case reports & analysis of comforts / services of the airline's. And I think she did a very good job !!! 👏 So ,I am gonna check others of hers & be the judge !

I always let the person know behind that I'm about to push the chair back JUST to film. Why do you think I didn't?
its a really bad and not ok to low the seat until the lights are shutting down. Remember, there are people on a seat behind you. And if i am sitting there, you will have the worst fligt ever. trust me. you will loose the fight.
Rest assured I lowered it for 30 seconds (while I filmed) and then put the seat straight back up!
