British airways didn’t let u down this time with a perfect bargain for upgrading to premium economy to a brilliant dining ... the seat pan legroom head rest to the cute little amenity kit all are just perfectly placed ... this is called a nice journey ... 👏👍... great review and few nice shots of Doha airport Ariel view ... great job
The old upgrade at check in trick !! Love it and so many airlines are doing it...especially those with a PE cabin...depending on the airline and type of aircraft !! And well done to the cabin crew looking after the passenger ! Really enjoyed the flight and the BA PE cabin and service looked pretty good !! Thanks again !!
Old trick but works quite often! Especially if you arrive sort of late
And especially if PE is empty. It basically means more money for the airline. I've asked twice on a flight that I knew was half empty and got a bargain.

Cheers to the Flight Attendants on your flight. They are well trained at first aid and happy to hear the passenger recovered and was returned to his seat. Hopefully he will seek additional medical care after landing.
A great review of a great flight, thank you My Trips! I`m liking the look of BA`s Premium Economy now that they have upgraded the catering. And thanks for the tip - I didn`t know BA offered upgrades upon check in when available.
I think most airlines will sell upgrades if they have seats left empty as they'd rather sell them cheap than leave them unsold. That's not the case for all airlines and some may still want a lot of money but I have found there is no harm asking at check in and have got some good deals last minute
@@MyTrips_Aviation I used to book P.E. on my twice yearly long haul flight and then B.A. very cleverly upgraded me once to Business (Club) for no extra cost. It worked because I only fly Business now it's so much better to be able to sleep on a 11.5 hour flight. I remember the food in P.E. looked the same as Economy then so good news if they've upgraded that, on a flight of say around 6/7 hours or less Business is not usually worth the extra cost.
I'm 55 and have never been on a plane in my life. No particular reason, other than I've had no place to go. I just found your channel today. I'm 15 videos in and feel like I've been on a plane now. Thanks for the fun. I'll even take an amenities kit if you have any extras laying around.

Very nice trip report! Seems like it was well worth upgrading to PE, and also your flights are quite eventful, lol, I remember on your KLM flight from Bogotá to Amsterdam you experienced the turbulence and now the passenger fainting. It is nice to see FAs are well trained and committed to their work (unlike many in American Airlines). Oh btw, I wish to win the amenity kit!

I got upgraded to WT+ with BA on a flight back from Chicago in December on the 777-200ER and it was great, but £183 is a steal, especially given the extra tier points

The B787-9 is a delight. I went slightly out of my way to avail myself of it but it involved flying into Santiago which does not have fast track arrival for premium passengers so it's swings and roundabouts. I also had issues with BA on my return and haven't flown with them since. As for the last minute upgrade, I think they have wised up as it is something I have done a few times when trying to upgrade to Club. I was told that my ticket couldn't be upgraded so had to sit in PE for 12 hours.
Product wise this is what makes the difference between low cost carriers and premium legacy carriers. Something KLM so called ROYAL Dutch Airlines may take a good look at!

the reason they leave the foil on the main dish is so it stays warm whilst you enjoy your starter... it looks tacky but there is reasoning behind it :)
Good video! BA’s premium economy is so good!! The improved soft products are great! And in premium economy the foil has to stay on the meals for hygiene and food standards as it’s a different type of service to club/first.
It also keeps the food warm

On longhaul BA flights PE is well worth the extra price though of course it’s nowhere near as good as Business with the lie flat beds, though for a 6.5 hour flight PE is good enough.

My Trips, well done. It was certainly impressive to view a positive result of BA's PE product, given it and other airlines' service retrenchment in the mids and rear of their aircraft. In your opinion, which PE product is better - British or Virgin Atlantic?
Actually you're in my mind. I thought that this product reminded me a lot of Virgin's PE that I have also flown on the 787-9 (the review is on the channel). I thought that the two products were very similar and both very good.

It's certainly worth it to play your luck and get an upgrade to prem Y at the airport, especially if you have a second bag or bike box like I often do. The seat itself is worth that money on the 787 saving you from the tightest, most uncomfortable pitch in the sky. To pay full price is absolutely not worth it, better to save your money and move up to J once in a while.

I for some reason was upgraded to Premium Economy twice on my outbound and inbound flight from Dallas to London. I figured it was because the flights were full and they needed to move single passengers to accommodate family’s and couples but who’s complaining 😊

I know a few cabin crew from BA and know the training they have to go through and when they see cuts in service they are just as annoyed as the customer

I have an idea: How about after each flight, you rate it. Like for example: 8/10 or 5/10
I have thought of this a few times. I would need to create specific criteria against which I score them and a scoring system. I just found it complicated. I may do it though at some point

This Premium Economy flight would be comparable to Business Class on some other airlines. You really got a bargain!
It's better than most European business classes for sure. It also reminded me of the Virgin Atlantic's premium economy on their Dreamliner
Was the upgrade just one way or did it include the return trip in PE?
The meal looks really nice, even served on real china - and not on plastic dishes as many other airlines do in their Premium Eco Classes. So, as it seems BA might have improved this product enormously.
I will agree they have improved the product but I'd keep it for the 787 only at this time...other aircraft may have worse seats (or not - I don't know).

Japan Airlines premium economy class is much better. All their seats have leg rests as well as foot rest. Seat pitch is even longer at 42" compared to others at 38". Privacy divider between seats as well. Bigger planes have 2-3-2, otherwise it's 2-4-2 but still comfortable. Only downside is their bulkhead seat does not have the foot rest for some odd reason. Or else I would have given them 5 out of 5 stars. Service is top notch. If you happen to find out if they fly your route, definitely check them out. I also heard their economy class is also rated best in the world.

I have found BA does great meals, the worst I have experienced has been Qantas and wait for it, yes Emirates.

Thankfully we now have a choice from Adelaide to London with Qatar. For years we have had to put up with Emirates with their dirty stinky blankets and shocking flight attendants now we have an alternative.
British Airways no longer flies to Doha from London Heathrow anymore. They're doing it from Gatwick now

The business class on the BA is rubbish so definitely the other two which are very similar
QATAR AIRWAYS QSUITE IS THE BEST IN THE WORLD
I flew PE London - Cape Town a couple of years ago, and it was scarcely better than Economy (more legroom but still felt cramped / slow service / seat recline not great / IFE didn't work going out and slow and ancient coming back). But (sad to say, as I love the plane), it was on a 26-year-old 747. BA has no competition on the direct Cape Town flight whereas to Doha they have Qatar. I wonder if that has anything to do with the difference in quality......
I think it's a bit of the competition that you mentioned and also a bit the new plane with this new seat which makes the flight so much more comfortable
Yes - what I meant was that BA has no incentive to invest in new planes with new seats because they know that people who don't want to have to change in Jo'burg will just have to grin and bear 11 hours of horror (I've tried Economy Class too) because no-one else flies that route.

It was very good. As I say in the video, it reclined enough to allow your body to be nearly straight. It was one of the most comfortable non-business class seats I have tried.
So BA are flying non-stop LHR - DOH these days. Interesting.

Just did London - Dubai in 787 PE. Plane/seat/food etc were fine. Cabin crew and service regime possibly the worst I have experienced. Slow, perfunctory, and shockingly, no safety check on landing. My neighbour was asleep with 2 drinks on his tray and footrest down, person in front was still reclined. I had to lean over and hold the drinks as we landed. BA just do not have a clue about long-haul travel. Even the American airlines have overtaken them now. I just don’t think I can fly BA again given the choice…so ashamed that this is our flag carrier.

Turkish Airlines intra European and short haul regular economy products are better than this PE product.
I agree that TK offer the best business class and probably the best economy class within Europe but their economy is not better than this PE. This seat is superior as is the service. This is expected though since this is a PE product
Were you able to secure a seat online? Oh, guess not since you were upgraded. I will never fly British Airways again as they canceled my online seat assignment on a paid ticket! #neverflyBRITISH
Hi Robert. I had paid £18 to secure an economy seat but when I upgraded to PE they assigned to me this seat at check in. I checked with them beforehand that it would be a window seat. BA have their way if annoying passengers regarding seats, you are right
