- For an extremely tall person every inch counts on a long haul flight. I flew BA Premium Economy World Traveller Plus from Cape Town to London return recently and was lucky enough to get the new generation seats on both legs. Join us to find out if it is worth paying double the economy class ticket price on this flight review.

I'm 82 yrs just flown Premium Economy from Joburg to Manchester a few days ago .It was super duper with British Airways .I love British Airways xx
Glad you had a great flight. It's a long way! 😁
Great review. Short and concise, but still entertaining 👏
Glad you enjoyed it and found it useful :)
Just flew BA from Seattle to London. Paid $2500 for premium economy. I think regular economy was about $800 for the same flight. I found the only real advantage was the legroom and the added arm-rest space. I tend not to tilt the seat back much, to the additional recline premium econ provides is not something I need. Also in this cabin section, there was no dedicated bathroom. The bathroom was shared with econ and not enough (four I think) to serve all of econ and econ+.
Coming back home (London to Seattle) I was able to use a systemwide upgrade my girlfriend has on American, to get bumped up to business class. This seating section was far superior to that of econ+. Expensive though, as I think a roundtrip tix in business was more than $10K.
Good point on the bathrooms!
THE question, which you addressed instantly and I was most worried about, concerns whether you get a refurbished plane. Quite simply I would say, yes worth it if a refurbished cabin, but World Traveller Plus on the old model - no. The only advantage on the old model would be the smaller cabin imo. That extra money for a glass of Prosecco + a bit better seat mmmm
I agree. Really I just want more legroom and a but wider and softer seat. They can just keep all the other extras
I'm also 6'4" and dreaded having to fly Economy. I can just about afford Premium Economy nowadays. 🙂
Yes same here! We have to pay the tall tax 😁
Yeah, but it is a hell of a lot easier to get laid.
Looking forward to flying this tomorrow 14 years old and currently at about 5’9 I don’t want any more than to be 6’2 economy must be torture for you
That's awesome. Hope it was a good flight. Yeah it's emergency exit row for me or bust!
You have not mentioned the extra baggage in the hold allowance.
Oh no! You are are are right. A huge detail oversight. Thanks for letting me know :)
listen to me carefully: you have a new subscriber (1) & (2) you have to be the funniest person reviewing flights. (3) You have to trademark " I just cannot cope with flying in the wrong direction for the first 8hrs of my journey " Classic!
Haha awesome! Glad you enjoyed it. Direct flights are where it's at :))
Got this product to look forward to next year; flying from London to Sydney via Singapore. Of course, there are lots of alternatives - Qantas, Qatar, Emirates, Singapore - but managed to get a 241 Flight on Avios for it! So, £800 return to Australia.
For a night flight of 14 hours, departing at 9pm UK time, hopefully should get plenty of sleep!
Wow that's an excellent price. Well done. Have a good flight!
@@CoolCapeTravel You too - all the best! Any tips for when visiting Cape Town? I can’t wait to go down to S.A 😃
@@GG-hi5if yeah I got all the tips 😁 When are you coming?
Cape Town is the most beautiful in the world 🌎 ❤
Great video!! Did the outside arm rest lift up?
Thanks! No they don't but I think there is a hack to do it. Not sure how that works though.
The arm rest does work unless stated otherwise by one of the agenta
At 5 foot 9 I would never pay double for premium economy.
But I take it whenever I can get it for no more than 20% higher than regular economy. If you're somewhat flexible on dates and airlines, and book early enough, then this is doable. Recently got tickets from Shanghai to London for same price as economy and then London to Shanghai for about 30% more.
Makes sense for someone of your height. I have to pay the tall tax, unfortunately.
Very helpful video. Sorry if I missed it but could you share how tall you are?
Thanks, glad you found it useful. I am 195 centimeters or six feet five inches 😊
@@CoolCapeTravel nice. That is tall. And you found the seat comfortable. Impressive!
I cannot seem to find the seatguru configuration of BA PE that goes from rows 15 to 19. We have one set of window and aisle seats booked at row 18. And UGH seeing your video pointing out row 18 as lacking a window really concerns me. Can you let me know whether this was a 777-200 or 777-300ER? Also could you share the link to this exact seat map if possible? Thank you for the short, sweet and to the point video.
I just had a quick look and I see what you mean regarding the seat maps. How strange. I think these planes may have been reconfigured post covid but the seat maps have not been updated yet. I don't have any records of the flight left unfortunately but I am pretty sure it was the 777-200. Maybe change the seats if you still can just for good measure. Enjoy the flight, glad you enjoyed the video!
Do you keep the headphones and blanket
Lol you are funny
You are not supposed to keep them 😊
Cutlery are the real souvenirs 😅
Thank you for the video 😁
Glad you enjoyed it :))
From LAX to BOM. It has to be Premium Economy. 2 10 hour flights?? I need the stretch room. I flew business which was wonderful but I can't afford it thus year. So premium it is
Oh yeah, that would be enough to send me crazy. Every inch counts!
Just booked PE in row 26 (the last row) as I want to be able recline without bothering anyone for the entire flight. Any thoughts on those seats? I think they fully recline as what I've read. Thanks for this great review.
Awesome! Great choice, you can recline without worry. Have a great flight !
One other quick question. I always take one of those neck pillows while flying economy. Does the PE seat recline enough to leave that at home. Thanks again. Subscribed!@@CoolCapeTravel
I've seen a lot of BA Premium economy videos with the old cabin (and old IFE), do you know if they renewed the PE in all aircraft types?
They are in the process of doing it but there are still quite a few aircraft with the old stuff.
I think the general rule for BA is avoid London Gatwick as, Heathrow as the premier airport, all that fleet/routes are refurbished first. Their Club World suffers the same fate. So many get excited thinking they're going to get the swanky Club World Suites but get the awful old product. Paying so much for the World Traveller Plus is bad enough. Imagine the dejection after paying a few thousands extra (that's just one way) to be met with a 2-4-2 configuration + having to stare across at a fellow traveller next to you + step over another passenger's legs to go to toilet
Is there any way to find out in advance if the plane has been updated? We’re flying nonstop into Gatwick on a 777-200, but the plane is only 5 years old ( I think).
Thanks for video. Do you get priority check in and boarding with Premium Economy?
Yes and double the economy baggage allowance.
Thanks so much
A year later i hope my flight is similar
How was it ?
We thought it was worth it for the seats alone....
Yes indeed. I am more than happy to trade in all the other frills just for more legroom!
It’s okay until the person in front of you reclines.
Yes indeed. If they could at least wait until after dinner!
Im flying to tokyo (14 hours straight) and im debating if i should upgrade to premium economy (£399)
Not a bad deal, especially if you are tall and the flight is full.
You did not show it but what was the breakfast like in Premium economy? By past experiences was it as pitiful after such a long flight (and cold)?
Thank you for pointing that out, I completely forgot! It was average at best.
How much did you pay for the premium economy ??
It was double the price of an economy ticket. About £1100
@@CoolCapeTravel Where did you purchase your ticket? Thanks
On the BA website
I'm only 5"10 but still hate flying basic economy.... Just love the extra leg room if can afford it.
Which seats are better in premium economy
The further forward the better. Front row best.
This is Economy Emirates Emirates is better Airline
If you fancy a journey that is 10 hours longer. Also the seats look pretty much the same to me.
@@CoolCapeTravel fly Emirates BA does not allow you to check in more than one luggage .
@@stopdiscrimination4152 Not true. If you purchase a premium economy ticket you can check two pieces of luggage.
@@AB-jz9ns the menu you get in premium is same in economy Emirates. Also you can have two luggage in economy
It’s the same seat. BA has had more experience doing premium economy and the service is impeccable.
𝓅𝓇o𝓂o𝓈𝓂 😏
Reclining should not be allowed during meal service unless that passenger is asleep, otherwise it's just rude.
I think even if one want to sleep try and wait until after dinner before one reclines.
