No...Freddie was not trained in opera, that comment below is incorrect, , but he learned on his own, then wrote all these songs , some with her, some with the piano player with the long redish hair, Mike Moran, a good friend of his. Note also, one is written in Japanese AND SUNG IN JAPANESE ! Freddie wouldnt hesitate doing new music he was unfamiliar with & "Montsy'" was all for what he wanted. Freddie was introduced to going v to the opera as a child frequently with his parents and mentioned in an interview how his favorite opera singer was Montserrat Cabballe & fantasised about singing with her. She happened to have been watching the news & heard this & had her father contact Freddie & then they set up a meeting.... in BARCELONA where she lived. He said he ssked her if she would really record a song with him. She said "well, how many songs do you do for a Queen album?" He said about 8 or 10 usually " & she answered "OK THEN, WE'LL DO 10 !" He was flabbergasted she wanted to do an entire album with him ! And so he started writing music, then wrote lyrics for all of them...some in English, 1 in Japanese and 1 in Catalan, her language in Spain. She & Mike Moran hped too. The album is beautiful, i own it & am astounded to hear Freddie sing in Japanese then Ensueno in Catalan.... one song beautifully begins "Rising sun, you bless my morning with a smile ..." lovely words.... This was playback and miming. It sounds exactly the same on the record. Probably because Freddie was so sick from aids (just a mere year away from dying) that singing was too hard for him. They did several of the songs from the album in a row when they recorded this.

No...Freddie was not trained in opera, that comment below is incorrect, , but he learned on his own, then wrote all these songs , some with her, some with the piano player with the long redish hair, Mike Moran, a good friend of his. Note also, one is written in Japanese AND SUNG IN JAPANESE ! Freddie wouldnt hesitate doing new music he was unfamiliar with & "Montsy'" was all for what he wanted. Freddie was introduced to going v to the opera as a child frequently with his parents and mentioned in an interview how his favorite opera singer was Montserrat Cabballe & fantasised about singing with her. She happened to have been watching the news & heard this & had her father contact Freddie & then they set up a meeting.... in BARCELONA where she lived. He said he ssked her if she would really record a song with him. She said "well, how many songs do you do for a Queen album?" He said about 8 or 10 usually " & she answered "OK THEN, WE'LL DO 10 !" He was flabbergasted she wanted to do an entire album with him ! And so he started writing music, then wrote lyrics for all of them...some in English, 1 in Japanese and 1 in Catalan, her language in Spain. She & Mike Moran hped too. The album is beautiful, i own it & am astounded to hear Freddie sing in Japanese then Ensueno in Catalan.... one song beautifully begins "Rising sun, you bless my morning with a smile ..." lovely words.... CZcams has them...get the "LIVE CONCERT " VERSIONS OF COURSE . You've started with the 1st called BARCELONA, now go for GUIDE ME HOME /HOW CAN I GO ON, not all the rest of the others are live. The upcoming Olympics being held in BARCELONA immediately said it would be the song to open the games ! The album was praised by operatic critics worldwide... enjoy !

This was playback and miming. It sounds exactly the same on the record. Probably because Freddie was so sick from aids (just a mere year away from dying) that singing was too hard for him. They did several of the songs from the album in a row when they recorded this.

Montserrat Caballé era una de las mejores sopranos de la época, Freddie amaba su voz y la admiración era mutua, cuando se conocieron se creó un vínculo especial entre ellos y Freddie le planteó crear algo...no sé,esto,un LP completo, mezclando las dos personalidades de una trayectoria muy diferente que, por supuesto, creó controversia desde el mundo operístico,por supuesto ,y el rockero también...se perdía la esencia...a Freddie le importaban muy poco las críticas y Caballé,disfrutaba tanto de su genialidad, que también se olvidó de las críticas elitistas, además la canción fue un éxito rotundo e inesperado y cerraron muchas bocas a los que les gusta criticar por el gusto de hacerlo
