    I started watching you 3 days ago starting with this very video, thinking I'd never have a chance understanding any of this.

    Whilst not a complete beginner to GarageBand, having done a 4 year apprenticeship on GB iOS, I'm still relatively new to Mac, so this is much appreciated. The musical typing part was new to me as I went straight for the Logic remote. Definitely good to know. Many thanks Patrick.

    Congrats, a Phàdraig! You squeezed the maximum possible content into this well-digestable clip. Your guidance to the track types is of so much help 👍 It always scared me a wee bit, so it's good to be reassured that any choice will result in your project opening (which you can easily change later). Nice picks for the sound examples, too 👌 Thanks for the video and all the best, mate 🤝

    Very well done and easy to understand. Do you have anything on click tracks? My main interest is to use backing tracks, that are purchased, for live performances.
    Thanks for all the great advice.

    I have a question about volume control. I play 1. electric guitar with 2.Garage band on a MacBook Pro via a 3. Focusrite Scarlett interface and through 4. PreSonus monitors. All 4 mentioned have volume controls, obviously. How do I balance all 4? Which do I prioritize? (not to mention multiple volume controls in GarageBand...)

    Is there anyway to simply set an audio track in time (BPM) if it's been recorded live and the timing fluctuates. Hope that makes sense.👍

    Greetings friend! I am new but I have an old question that I am confident that you have answered 32 times more or less. Can I import 32 bit float into GarageBand on MacBook Air. Thanks. You are a natural.

    How do you add fun voice effects when doing a recording say if you want to sound like a robot or a monster for example?

    Hello, I managed to connect my amp to my Scarlett Solo using Amps Preout to Scarletts Input, however, Amp is still producing sound but I am still able to record in GarageBand. Im thinking about connecting the Amps headphones to the Scarletts Headphones and be able to hear sounds through laptop headphones jack, I just don't know what setting exactly do I have to change to be able to hear sound from laptop

    A question i just cant find out. When recording audio with the mic in a loop, it plays automatically over the previous recording. So i can keep recording in a loop till i think my recording was good. I like this. But with midi, when recording with the loop on, the previous recording stays, so i can not play again and again till i have the best loop... Hope i explained it in a way someone understands... But i would love to record with loop on, with midi in the same way as with the mic. So in a way the new recording covers the old recording automatically... Hope someone can help me!

    Yo, Patrick
    I have a GarageBand (GB) problem that has been bugging me for awhile, and
    I wonder if one of your videos might shed some light. Here’s the problem:
    Using GB I recorded an original song. Then using iMovie (I have a MacBook Pro)
    I made a video that synced with the song. BUT then I needed to insert several new
    Lines in to the song and made a new recording. Now I cannot figure out how to get
    Rid of the old (original) recording and replace it with the new recording while still
    Keeping the video. I’m pretty good at adjusting video clips to sync with lyrics,
    But cannot find a way to have the new audio replace the old audio.
    Is there a CZcams video of yours that would help with this?
    Thanks for taking the time and thanks for your channel.

      Hey did you sort it? My usual technique is to completely remove it from the "music" library. I make the song on GB and share, (song to music), which ends up in my iMovies library,.... I then just add a single picture. If I delete it from "music" and move it to trash, It disappears from iMovies.

    I want to create electronic music with GarageBand. Is there anyway I can NOT use a MIDI keyboard or do I have to buy one?

    • @TheGaragebandGuide
      @TheGaragebandGuide  Před 5 měsíci +1

      You can use your typing keyboard to play GarageBand’s instruments too. In a MIDI software instrument track, select ‘window’ from the toolbar then click ‘musical typing’.

    Does anyone know of a way to transfer garageband files to a different mac??
    For years, I've used an older iMac (2012ish) with the older version of GarageBand. I recently acquired a newer MacBook Air that Im excited to start using, however, I have some recently recorded yet unfinished projects saved in GarageBand on my older iMac. Is it possible to transfer these files and open them in GarageBand on a new MacBook and continue working on them or am I stuck finishing them on the old Mac? I've searched around the web and got nothing. Any answer would be appreciated!

    • @TheGaragebandGuide
      @TheGaragebandGuide  Před rokem +1

      You can connect an external hard drive then drag and drop all your GarageBand files onto it. Connect the drive to your new Mac and drag and drop them off (or open them directly from the drive).
      You may run into issues if you do t have the same instruments/plugins installed on your new Mac.

    I don't understand why after downloading all the libraries, every instrument track is the same. All the drum tracks play the same thing. All the keyboard tracks play the same thing. etcetera.
