  • I bought This Gas Outboard Motor (hangkai 3.6) on Amazon for about 200$. I Purchased it simply because there isn't much info about these motors out there so I figured I would gamble and see for myself.
    Here are my first experiences and impressions of the Hangkai 3.6!

    In case you don't know, a good coating of silicone spray or beeswax on cord will preserve and help the performance. Also,, you should never pull cord completely to the end when starting. Shorter quick pulls will work just as efficiently.

    When you opened the gas tank kinda sounded like it had pressure in the tank. Maybe you could put a vent in the cap and see if it runs better !!

    The pull start cord happened to me too on my second outing offshore. They have a poor coiling spring(pull start cord )that messes up, thats why they send the extra pull start cord.

    Choke = off for the air to use the choke.....and on for when you want the motor to run with full air and no choke. Thats what to remember for the choke labelling.

  • @tribalncgaming1091
    @tribalncgaming1091 Před 3 lety

    i have the same motor.. its cold natured.. but you have to really work with the choke once you have it running.. it has to be adjusted just right.. and its almost like a throttle itself..and its labeled backwards.. off is (running normally ) on= choke on. (start only) once you figure out where the choke needs to be running.. its a great little motor.. follow the same routine and it starts and stays running until you run out of gas :)

    • @clydeosterhout1221
      @clydeosterhout1221 Před 2 lety

      Hull speed is 1.6 x the square root of the length of the hill. For a 16 foot boat (for example) the square root of 16 is 4, and 4 times 1.6 is 6.4, so a 16 foot boat can go 6.4 mph with a minimal amount of power (say 1.5 hp). Once a boat hits hill speed, adding power doesn’t do anything except make bigger waves and more froth/cavitation. That is unless the hull can be pushed into planing speed, where very little of the hill is actually in the water, but that generally takes a LOT more power for a displacement hull (such as a kayak’s)
      Practically speaking, a 12 foot kayak can move at 5.4 mph, unless you can figure out some way of hooking a 10 hp motor onto it (at which point the kayak would be unmanageable by mist mortals).
      Before I get flamed, yes, there are (of course) exceptions. Kayak hills are not all the same. Some plane easier than others. But, in general, the rules above provide a good frame of reference.

  • @SD-ft6gs
    @SD-ft6gs Před 4 lety

    researching these motors around the web it seems they are not sold ready to use as those of some mainstream brands. but that does not mean they are bad engines. they just require more care... specifically the main points are: 1) these do not come with any lubrication out of the box and require it at all moving parts. 2) these require a 10h cold water break in period with a 50:1 mix... don't skip it. 3) immediately replace the spark plug. there are more things but these basically are 1970s shipping engines so they require more wrenching to use. so don't expect Honda level fit and finish from the start and they will work fine?

    You have to break those motors in before using them. They are notorious for not running well if they aren’t broken in correctly

    It's a very cheap motor therefore all the parts are very cheap. You have to be really easy on the pull cord.. like someone else said just do short strokes on it don't pull it all the way out

    1 year later, do you still have the outboard?

  • @jordanmiltenberger2150

    Change the spark plug in that to a champion been doing a lot of research about the same motor for my kayak saying that that was a big problem the manufacturer spark plug is junk oh and make sure and put gear lube down behind where the propeller is it doesn't come with any and it will burn up quickly without it

    Also don't use gas with ethanol in it. I'm not sure if this is a two or four stroke it sounds like a two-stroke so if it is a two-stroke make sure you mix your gas and your oil right or it will run shitty like yours was
