  • See me start up the Hangkai 2 Stroke 6HP Outboard engine for the first time on the stand and in the water. I show it breaking in at each stage of the break-in process. I go over my initial thoughts on the motor having used the on-board gas tank and an external tank. And I also show a live GPS read out for the speed test during break-in. When we got towed to escape a storm quickly over like 25+mph started to be a bit much. The wind kicked up with the storm and waves, too, so that I'm sure that had an effect as well. But other than that, I was impressed. It's worth the purchase, and it breaks down to basically a gym bag when you're all done. I have a video of fully putting it together. To expand further I have the external tank to cut down on having to stop and refuel on the water. More prone to spilling with the internal tank needing refueling every hour and cuts out any concern that you are running low. It's enough to drive multiple days for long trips and it's just a plug in, nothing complicated.

I was thinking of getting the 9hp one they sell. The total weight of the boat with a full tank is about 2,400 lbs, so lets say 3,000 with a few people on it... Could you estimate how fast that would go as well?? Luckily, even here in CT with all our crazy laws, it was pretty simple for the DMV to create a title based on my receipts and bill of sale. I am sure there must be a workaround because you can't be the first to decide to buy an outboard, even a cheap Chinese one, and slap it on their John boat or something. after a tank of internal fuel the rings are more seated than they will ever be. heat cycle for an hour and thats it. 8 hrs break in is just insurance for the factory. if it doesnt start after 2 pulls give it a little gas. i see you kinda figured that out after yanking on the poor thing. the way to increase the life of the pullstart recoil spring is to pull the cord out until you feel resistance/compression then pull. you should see these guys ripping these when there is no resistance!

      @SKLIFEstyle  Před 6 měsíci

      Yeah, I had a bit harder time starting up do to having just transporting it for a long distance. But any other time a couple pulls and it would always fire right up. Actually a pretty solid motor, and hard to see paying twice the price for the real mercury, especially when talking about such low horsepower. A big boat and such then yeah I would go for the reliability factory but for this application I think the cost savings is worth it.

If they only give the 50:1 just cut it in half. That was just for the break in period if I'm not mistaken. And then in bumps up to standard ratios.

    I think your boat is sinking, its taking in quite a bit of water

      The floor was pulled forward just enough to allow water splashing to run under the floor and build up in the stern. I open the plugs to let it run out, but yes, def. had some learning curves to get through, lol. Thanks for the feedback. Be sure to Subscribe! **SK**
