Love your infinite willingness for fabrication and, attention for quality of craftsmanship. Looks like some Burnsville scenery. LET'S GO!!!
I do kayak tournaments in Mexico and personally I like motors on kayaks but on the tournament we don’t allow them because we like to promote physical activities along with the fishing. In Mexico there is a lot of people with overweight and it’s our responsibility here as event organizers. That’s more or less our perspective down here. Thanks for your content. Cool stuff 💪💪
I made one for my Hobie PA14 and love it for when I’m out all day. You’ll enjoy it
trey herold it opens up a bunch of options for sure.
Joseph Harrick Fishing
You might want to consider putting a male and female connector on the yak and run the wires through the hull and put the battery in the back. It would get rid of the wires and create more room if you stand up and fish.
Love your channel and tight lines
trey herold good idea and thank you!
Did you use the Hobie PA17t trolling motor mount on your PA14? I’m really considering a trolling motor.
Hey Joseph.... I was at a kayak tournament today and was looking at some videos while I was waiting around. I couldn't believe I stumbled across this channel. That's my home lake in West Virginia. I had to laugh because it is a secret little gem for bass fishing. Not a ton of big bass but definitely some for it's small size. I am peddling a Hobie now but definitely thinking about also getting a Nucanoe or Old Town 120 Auto Pilot. I love the video. Great video and you have a new subscriber.
It used to be a lot better… the secret is kinda out…. :/
Appreciate you man
Dude that was awesome
That would eliminate all my health problems in the water and also allow me to stretch myfishing areas thank you for the video I just subs to man till next video tight lines
Jorge Rivero thanks man! Yea it works really well!
Just installed a trolling motor on my 10ft kayak nearly the same, but I put my battery in the back and built a compartment for it to help balance weight (12v 40#)
I think motors on kayaks are a great idea. Not everyone wants to drop 11k or much more on a new bass boat, and the used ones always seem to be lacking. Give me a frontier (front and back mount options) or a bonafide ss127 with front mount and necklace remote. Will never rust, still light enough to store in basement (off season) and able to be paddled if something happened to the motor. Although I do feel that when equipped as such , a boat trailer is a must for hassle free fully loaded , quick loading/unloading.
Sweet. I'm thinking of getting one of these for the Big Fish 108. Not sure how to install it though 😬
yakladyEastTN 7 just get the quick release bracket 🙌
I'm really thinking of getting this model now for the mere fact that a second seat can be installed and 2 people can go out. I have 3 younger kids and would like to take one of them from time to time. Have you ever done the 2 person setup? Wondering how comfortable it would be?
Nice set man.i love your videos! I have similar set up
Julio Lopes thanks man!
Dope ness! I believe the Xi3 is programmable too.. not sure.
Yea, you can save up to 8 fishing spots on the built in gps system, so it will automatically go to your spots
Bro! When your voice went high pitch omg😂😂🤣
Julio Lopes lol.. what time I can’t remember?
@@5050fishing 3:17
Julio Lopes lmao! No idea what happened there 😂
My apologies.. Perhaps Stonewall or there in approximately?
I’m about 2 hours north
I'm about to the same thing for my older frontier 12. I see you used a stern mount bracket, but put it way up front. Is this what you would suggest I do? I was looking at the pursuit bracket that goes up front and center. I'm not sure if that will work though. What do you think?
Does having the trolling motor on front affect the steering at all? I have a field and stream shadow caster I’m going to mount a motor on front.
Wolf: Outdoors I think it steers fine
Awesomeness
thanks man
Now you need an Elite-7 Ti and you're all set. You can plot wavepoints and trails and the trolling motor will automatically follow it.
a tip : watch movies on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching loads of movies these days.
@Corey Jared definitely, been using Flixzone for years myself :)
@Corey Jared yup, I have been watching on Flixzone for since december myself :)
How did you shorten the shaft? How fast does it go on max speed? How do you like it after owning it for a bit? Pros / cons?
I live in Fort Mill SC, do you think your set up would be good on Catawba River ?
Thanks man
Yes, absolutely
Great video bro!!!
Why did you go with such a big bulky motor though? You could of had a look at something like a Viking Kayak with the Bixpy motor
Reel Nz Fishing thanks! I like the anchor lock, pinpoint gps this motor has.
The bixpy, while cool, is far outclassed by fishing specific trollers.
Nice video!
Osny_fishing_adventures thanks!
@@5050fishing no probs bud, if you could, please come checkout my latest upload, caught a monster of a rainbow trout and also got into some wild brown action 🎣🐟
Osny_fishing_adventures awesome, I’ve been wanting to catch some big browns. I will check it out.
do you need to calibrate the GPS system at all, or does it automatically know? is it worth hooking up to a fish finder? Also, how hard was it to get use to the remote system?
Remote was easy and I don’t believe I had to calibrate anything.
How fast do you think you were going at full throttle?
1 More Kast if I had to guess probably around 7.5 mph
What size battery are you running and how long is it lasting for you?
Just a regular marine 12 volt and I get about 6 hours of constant use
Do you happen to have a video of the install? I am wondering how the quick release plate is on the kayak.
James McGuire I don’t have a vid of it but the easiest way to do it is with toggle bolts if you can’t get inside the hull.
Hey bud..do I need a GPS fish finder to use the anchor or can I do without one out the box...just subed digging your vids homie!
It has an internal gps for the anchor lock. So it’s good to go.
Thanks man 🤙
@@5050fishing thanks for replying back...I'm getting one for damn sure.
Randy Garcia cool! You should enjoy it.
So how is the power with the trolling motor on front? I plan to put a trolling motor in front of my Frontier12. But when I went to Bass Pro. The salesman said that I was wasting my money on a front trolling motor. He said that a pulling motor looses half power by pulling instead of pushing. Your opinion?
It seemed just as fast for me.
Thinking of this for my old F12. Does the wind push the stern around on still water?
No not really
A year and half later, how are you gettign along with the Xi3? Have you rigged a way to lower and raise the motor without getting in the water ourself?
Still love it, I have it mounted on another kayak now though. You could lower and raise it from the kayak without getting into the water.
Looking at getting this setup. Would you be able to car top transport with the trolling motor mounted?
You probably could but there would be no need to with the quick release bracket.
Oh nice, that makes way too much sense
Nice video. I have had my Xi5 on a Triton 240 LTS bay boat for a couple of years now. Yes, not a kayak but the results are the same. The Xi5 totally changed the way I fish. The anchor lock works best with some wind and or current. If it is calm, sometimes the head will turn around multiple time and wrap up the coiled cable so keep an eye out for that. I was at anchor with a decent tidal flow and it kept us positioned great. When the tide went slack/no current, the GPS/motor wasn't sure what to do and the head turned so many times and so hard it ripped the wires out of the base. Had to replace it. there was no repairing in the location that came apart. I have watched all of these multiple times. The same would go for the Xi3 I believe. czcams.com/video/hpgrhYaoDZw/video.html
.
Hey Joseph, I'm looking at switching to a Nucanoe and adding a 12v 55#. What battery are you using and how many hours of use do you get?
Hook2Jaw TV I just have an everstart from Walmart. I’d say atleast 9hrs but probably more
Motorguide coming out with motorguide 36 inch shaft xi3..
No need to cut shaft ....
That will be dope
In your opinion would the anchor lock work in 3-4 mph current with 10-15 mph winds well enough for fishing on the bottom?
Adam Hagen definitely
sir is the depth ajustable and how hard is it to lower it in the water with you sitting in the kayak?
Wesley Wayne Lofton Wesley yes you can adjust how far down it goes in the water with the ring clamp.
this is a short shaft and its pretty easy. I usually just stand up to deploy it though.
I subscribed found u on group fb
Crappie Fishing with nottheexpert88 awesome thanks! I will check out you’re channel.
How long could the battery last with full throttle? Thanks!
I have no idea lol.. I used it for 5 days without charging though
Which xi3 do u have? Spent 45min on their site and the shortest version they show is like a 50” and the description says it’s for a deep-v hull. There is a 36” x3 but it’s a traditional cable foot control with a huge bracket and none of the advanced features you used.
I had them shorten the shaft.
why did you put it in the front and not the back? thanks
because this type of Motor is meant to be mounted on the bow
5050 Fishing will you make a video on how you mounted it?
@@narbehebrahambaba1052 I used the motor guide quick release bracket.
What kind of battery did you use ?
An everstart deep cycle
Does the weight of the trolling motor ever give you any issues?
ReyluisM _ nope not at all
Nice , I saw that you shortened the shaft, did you have to cut it near the top end or bottom ?
Do you trailer this kayak? Or how do you transport?
I used to just truck bed it
@@5050fishing smart.
Is this the 48"?
Chris Whitley I believe they shortened it for me. So I think it’s a custom length.
Joseph Harrick Fishing who shortened it for you? I would like to get the same work done.
Did the place you ordered this from shorten it ? I’m looking for a setup like this . Thanks
Nice video, but I don't think the thumping techno music is a good choice. I think acoustic guitar would be a better fit for out on a lake.
Thanks, it’s not really techno but everyone has their music preferences.
My thought is this are you in a kayak paddling tournament or a fishing tournament? I'm in the fishing business not Olympic paddling .
Heard that
There should be two classes - paddle and motor. They shouldn't compete against one another.
Nice but dang that thing is expensive!
It’s not too bad!
5050 Fishing what’s the whole setup cost?
Do they have a foot control instead of a remote?
Sunny Xiong yes
How heavy is the motor?
Like 30 pounds maybe
@@5050fishing dang!
How long is the shaft?
48in
Why don’t they make a 36”, like they do for the x3? Makes no sense...
How did u mount it?
Motorguide Quick Release bracket
Do you remember the size of the shaft? 40? inch?
I do not but i know they shortened it
The local stomping grounds
🙌
It's crooked!
So? Lol
Nice video. Kudos to NuCanoe for at least thinking about adding a motor to their boats. Unfortunately, every kayak has the problem with the weight and thrust of the motor being focused on the extreme bow or stern end - which is the least stable and buoyant point. In contrast, WavewalkBoats.com mounts the motors - bow and/or stern - between the twin hulls. Not only is the weight balance much better, the stability is actually increased with the motor and battery weight displaced over the long hulls. Plus, you can actually reach the motor to turn, tilt, raise or lower! See the 11'4" Wavewalk W500 in action: czcams.com/video/caVtmMyAJDw/video.html Oh yeah, the price is less, too!
These kayaks are insanely stable and you can reach the motors with almost zero effort.... wave walks are slow, uncomfortable junk.... thanks for the spam..
