    it's so awkward the way they're dancing, but it must have been so fun to be there. it's like dancing alone in your room, like nobody is judging you, just having a blast

      I loved to dance like that in the gothic clubs! In Germany we had strickt rules on the dancefloor though: Nobody was allowed to touch or shove anybody else while dancing...and do not look or stare into somebodies elses eyes. Very cool it got when they started playing some popular indi "trigger" songs, than all came to the dancefloor and danced the exact same dance, similar to a flashmob in these days now, it was so cool!!!! Love these memories!

    I remember starting listening to "goth" music in early 86. The albums released during the 80s were mostly phenomenal. In my humble opinion, the best "goth" music was released during the very early eighties. Albums such as In The Flat Field, Theatre of Pain, Juju, Pornography, Prayers on Fire, etc had a strong influence on me.And yes folks use to dance like this even in the US. The goth/punk bars and clubs created spaces where you can connect with like minded people who had similar taste in music, fashion, and lifestyle. Was an exciting era to grow up in

    1984, I was living in a squat in Kings Cross London.
    We would head out to The Bat Cave in Soho or Gossips or the KitKat club in Westborne Grove.
    I would wear a black wedding dress & always had red lipstick & black back combed hair.
    They were the days of freedom of expression & individuality, music was amazing in clubs then and the gigs around London were epic.
    I saw The Banshees, The Damned, The Cult, The Ruts & many more.
    Went on to buy a house in London and have four children, my eldest son loves the music from the 80's and cannot quite believe what we used to get up to back then.
    I still blare out Spirit Walker in my car whilst driving around the country lanes of Suffolk England.

      There is no Genre of Goth called Rockabilly. Rockabilly is a scene on its own.
      The Cramps were a Garage/Surf Band, or 60s punk if you want to call it that.
      They appealed to a few subcultures, and had a massive following in the Psychobilly scene.

      Lol right...I'm gen X, in the scene since I was 14 (from 89 or 90) I don't t recall the "flapping of the wings" (wtf is that? Haha) The slam dancing shit...no, not tolerated. There are always these assholes that try to crash a place..they cant hold their liquor. A couple of years ago, I grabbed some tool by his shirt collar, for trying to pull this stunt. You get the "black on fridays" ( weekenders) that are touristy. The same douche types that threatened to kick the goth boys ass, while throwing homophobic slurs. They are very preditory too. The ones above, I wouldn't call them wannabes...I think its cultural (based on the language posted) ..Spain? Italy? I'm in cali and by the time 1990 or 91, it became more black and hair was sleek typically...you had exceptions...flat irons hadnt been invented yet. The struggle was real. EDIT- I reread the description, I believe it is Brazil...although, people below believe its England.

    Goth is highly misunderstood, it’s more than just a look or a type of music… it’s a a way of life, a way of being. Most people fail to grasp this, because like most timesless music, it has gone underground. Where all really good music lives, that most people will never even discover or appreciate.

    • @sinspade2677
      @sinspade2677 Před rokem +1

      @kyfaydfsoab really… maybe that’s what it means for you. There are music scenes underground all over the world. Maybe you need to go explore, I’ve discovered new music everywhere I’ve traveled. Especially in Chicago where I live there’s a huge music element that most people never experience. The shit that plays on the radio is the crap the industry promotes to entertain the masses who are mostly clueless about good music.
