Bill Frisell is a special kind of musician ... introverted, discreet, closed-minded, he explores while playing alone in a room, explores at a concert, immerses himself in his music, merges with it ... and his harmonies are special, completely his ...
Did you mean open minded?
@@mr.beaverchair3622 Could only have meant that!
Nicely put
Mr. Kenny Wollesen, ladies and gentlemen. Killing it from the very first note.
Bill’s face, friendly, joyous, gleeful, gentle, playful, inviting us into his musical world. Like a Mr. Rogers for grownups.
perfect view. absolutely love this guy and his unique playing !!!
Kenny kills!! Tony tears!! Bill Frisells!
BF plays with a reverence for melody and harmony that never fails to make the music he plays sacred music, regardless of the tune.
If Bill Evans played guitar i think he would sound like Bill Frisell: thoughtful, innovative, articulate and melodically luminous.
Bill has become my favorite guitarist, only because I have become part of the tail to his comet. I think I'm finally "getting" Bill. It isn't how fast one can play, it's ... it's really ... it's something I can't explain. It's just a beautiful thing.
Md me
Thanks
Music cannot be explained.

@@claytongillaspy8847 You forgot John Fahey!
No one like Bill Frisell! This trio is brilliant.
I don't believe I never ever seen a group (Greg too) with as much connection going on as they have. No egos here!!
Love this trio, it's so different from the current trio but just amazing still
Kenny Wolleson is the most underrated drummer around, and Tony Scherr is just awesome always
BIll's tone on this is just amazing... recorded well too
patrick shepard - Super band. I’ve had the good fortune to see them many times. Probably my favorite of Bill’s groups. There’s a boot from a concert in Boulder, CO. from 2000 worth hunting down. Fantastic. Saw them again over four nights in Seattle at Jazz Alley, 2019. As good as it gets.
I like these 3 plus Greg Leisz. Those four have played together so much they have a great feel for each other. The trio is good, and has Bill playing a more central role than the foursome, but the pedal steel sounds really complements Bill’s tone.
Bill Frisell keep only the beauty of the structure
3, 4 years later! Bill Frisell is still reinventing himself, renewing chord and progressions, never standing stale as so many other great jazz guitar players that i have admired over the years. Listen to his latest Valentine and the work Bill did on Ron Miles Rainbow Sign, nothing but stellar inspiring and wonderful poetry with his choice of notes listening to his band members for responses. Love you Bill!
Everyone one needs to hear/own Rainbow Sign. Ron Miles’ compositions are stellar, as is Bill’s playing.
Why isn’t Bill frissell more widely known? He’s incredible one of my favorite guitarists for many years now his playing has no equals a genius!
As far as I know he is a pretty big name internationally.
Bill is unknown here in Illinois I know he plays a lot in San Fran wish he would come here for a show
I got turned into Bill through Before we were Born when it came out. It was through that album that I got turned onto Zorn and then a whole bunch of stuff. My first gig was Bill and Joey in Seattle in 92.
I’ve pretty much assumed he was well known from the moment I heard his music for the first time.
Bill is classy, discreet. When I listen to him I can’t help thinking that he sounds and looks like great scholar Richard Sennett.
Adventurous and misterious melodies
This guy is so cool
The music may get a bit complex at times but watching the connection these guys have makes it all worthwhile.
this is exactly what my ears needed before work this morning :)
Love the movement @ 13:20. Hauntingly beautiful.
Fantastic snare recording!!!
Kenny killing it on the drums love it
I have been lucky enough to see many great guitar players but Bill my have been the best. Just a master of his instrument! Just so so so good...
Me again he's a master in tone his music is more than notes he is telling story's like the twilight zone
He's been called the "Clark Kent" of Guitar, and I couldn't agree more. I was lucky to see him in Toronto playing an outdoor concert. One I will remember for ever.
Sublime best line up for me 👍🏴.
I saw them live here in Szeged with Greg Leisz, playing mostly Lennon's music. it was a special evening.
still love it!!
btw, the audio is amazing !!! congrats to the channel.
Bill Frisell precision and details on his unique guitar playing is but a joy to listen too
Go Tony go
Best thing I’ve heard in a while. Amazing!
I love this!
Slow, open voicing, strange rooms, smooth and a little funny. Kind of strange movie sound very special.
Amazing !! ... Monk's Epistrophy
👏🏾👏🏾
This is fantastic! The sound is amazing. Although ALL of Bills videos sound great whether they're outdoors or indoors. I guess with the right people who know how to listen and self balance this is what happens!!
Enjoying this very much. Thanks!
love your music since many many years!!
The Thelonoius Monk standard is the proper way to end this rather short session. I wish he made it to the 2023 NJF (the grandad of all Jazz Festivals), specifically on Sat, Aug 15, which has a better line up than either Fri or Sun.
Frisell delivers
Wow!
what a timing
thank you for posting this
Frisell plays guitar like a spider spinning a web.
yes, great coment.
I wish someone would hire Bill to score a film.
he made music for Buster Keaton movies, as well as "The Great Flood" project, his music was also used in "Finding Forrester" with Sean Connery and "Million Dollar Hotel" :)
So filmic!
transcendent.
In the pocket!!!
09:35 On His Wing'd Horse
That's Julie Miller's lyric over Bill's composition, which works with or without those words.
Mark Cuban on bass.
what's the effect he is using at 0:30 that gives its guitar that kind of "reverse" sound? somebody knows?
Bill uses a Line6 Delay/Looper. I believe it's a DL4. It has a reverse loop function on it. He also uses an Electro-Harmonix Freeze pedal.
Hey! Love all the content, commenting on the most recent video in hopes it gets seen. What happened to the FKJ piano solo video from the 2019 Festival? Did it get taken down on purpose or by accident?
Blasssss
Must be hot under thelights.
