    Bandmaid has over 130 original songs, and there are no bad songs. The members have not changed for over 10 years and the techniques of all members are the best. They are currently the best group in rock music.

    Welcome to the Maidiacs...
    The "po!" is something the Miku does. Her nickname is "Cluppo" or Pigeon, and the po! is to mimic the sound that pigeons make. She plays a custom Zemaitis.
    Here's the cast of characters (and, their phonetics to help you in future videos)...
    > Saiki (SYE-kee) - Lead vocals, lyrics
    > Miku (MEE-ku) / Cluppo (KLU-po) - Band leader, main lyricist, rhythm guitar, vocals
    > MISA (MEE-zuh) - The Barefoot Assassin, Bass
    > Kanami (kuh-NAHM-ee) / Mincho (MEEN-cho) - Lead Guitar, composer, vocals, keyboards, piano, acoustic guitar
    > Akane (uh-KAHN-ay) - Drums, banana eater (half gorilla, half amazing, 100% Akane!)
    Enjoy the pigeon hole! 😉 (we don't call it a rabbit hole)

    The reason Thrill saved the band was because the label was going to pull the plug on them if the song didn't do well.
    Thankfully, a Facebook J-rock group posted it on their page, and it went viral with a million views in a few days (or something close).
    The reason for po is because rythnn guitarist and founder, Miku ends every sentence with it. Her name means small pigeon, so it's supposed to be a pigeon sound.

      @@cs780Excerpt from a review in Loudersound Magazine in 2016: (YES all the same band members since the beginning!) Same can be said for this concert!
      They’re Actually Good
      In the 18-song setlist there is never a dull moment that warrants a quick trip to the bar (not that you can even reach the bar, as everyone is packed in so tight). With three studio albums under their belt, there’s enough talent and experience amongst the quintet to blitz through the arena-sized anthems that swell and burst inside the dingy north London venue. And despite Band-Maid having never played a proper show in the UK before, a rather large portion of the crowd are singing along with every word - in English and Japanese. Down the front, men stand alongside teenage girls with their fists in the air and chanting along to their new favourite band. From the massive CZcams hits of Real Existence and Thrill, to the bombastic chorus of Don’t Let Me Down, there’s a palpable energy in the air. Whether this popularity continues and the girls return to the UK is anyone’s guess, but sticking them on at a festival this summer would be a fantastic move.

    As subtle as a 16 lb. sledgehammer to the bridge of your nose!
    Okay, so here's the story. Saiki says "Please swallow it smoothly." Miku's family name "Kobato" is witten 小鳩 where 小 is "small" and 鳩 is "pigeon." In Japanese, pigeons call "Kuruppo," or "po" for short. She doesn't _act_ like a small pigeon, she _is_ a small pigeon. Saiki says, "There, that wasn't so bad, was it?"
    MISA played a 4-string Fender Jazz Bass from the time she started playing bass at about 15 until she got a 5 string bass to play Band-Maid songs. The last seven years or so she's played Black Cloud basses - they are a company in Nagano who make high quality instruments.

    “Old fashioned finish” you bet. The Maids have brought the best bits of classic rock back to life inside of brand new, progressive and original new music.
    You’re going to have plenty of suggestions for live performances, but there are several songs where the official music video still serves the best version, (so far)
    Official music videos to have on your list:
    “DICE”
    “From Now On”
    “Blooming”
    “Daydreaming”
    Band Maid are courageous songwriters. From thunderous thrash metal to R&B style slow jams.
    Their variety is unmatched in modern music. If you could say a bit more on your likes and dislikes, it helps with recommendations, please.
    There are songs they’ve made where it’s hard to believe it’s the same musicians.

    "Po" is a playful affectation of Miku, a part of her band-leader persona. Japan thinks that "po" the sound a pigeon makes (cats say "nyan"). And Miku enjoys stapling it onto the end of sentences. I think the association with pigeons involve a pun on her family name, Kobato. I've forgotten.
    If you check out the face of her beautiful custom Zemaitis guitar, "Flappy Pigeon", you'll see a flying pigeon detail. Zemaitis manufactured a limited run of Flappy Pigeons for enthusiasts, too.

    Great reaction! Lead guitarist Kanami Tono is playing her PRS Custom 24, and bassist Misa, (the Barefoot Assassin), is using her 5 string American Jazz Deluxe Ashe Natural IV Bass. Rhythm guitarist Miku Kobato is playing her own Signature Zemaitis Flappy Pigeon model A24MF-FP. The powerful and precise drummer is Akane Hirose (the gorilla) playing on a Tama Starclassic (Bublinga) drum kit, and the great vocalist is Saiki Atsumi. The Band-Maid members have all been together for the last 10 years without any lineup changes The Band members call their stage dress their 'battle armor' and will wear them until they need to be replaced and then will design new ones to wear on stage. Hope you like the added info. Cheers.

      MISA doesn't use Fender basses (not since at least 2016/17). She now exclusively uses Black Cloud basses from Japan. Her bass here is her Black Smoker Trad Master Series Beta J5 'MISA' by Black Cloud Basses that she got in January 2021. It's a custom build for her with her name on the reverse of the headstock. She said the colour is 'dirty cigarette smoke' and it is heavily reliced.

      @@Davey-Boyd I certainly could be wrong on Misa's bass as I'm not familiar with bass guitars. I knew Misa had a new Signature Black Smoker Bass but Misa's promo pictures for it had her holding one with a 3-tone orange sunburst finish that I assumed was hers and the one she would have used in concert, so I may have been confused a bit in thinking she went back to the Fender with its Natural Ashe coloration for this particular set for some reason. Thanks for the correction.

    • @Davey-Boyd
      @Davey-Boyd Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@uffdad8211 Yeah the sunburst model is her signature bass, it's on sale now made to order (£2,600). I think MISA must have around 6 different Black Cloud basses by now! Another new one I spotted at Yokohama Arena is a pale blue PJ (precision/Jazz) hybrid that she used during "Don't You Tell ME" solo's.

    To understand the "Po" remarks, you have to first understand that Miku (rhythm guitar, backup vocals, founder of the band) is not actually human, she is an 810-year-old pigeon disguised as a human. It's running joke, of course, because her last name Kobato means "small pigeon" in Japanese, but she has created this whole amusing lore behind it. "Po" is short for "kuruppo," which a Japanese onomatopoeia that represents the sound of a pigeon's coo. Miku often uses it to punctuate her speech. Miku plays even more on the pigeon theme by having a side project called Cluppo (which is a variation on the word kuruppo).

    • @stevehall5128
      @stevehall5128 Před 2 měsíci +6

      810 year old 😊 Because somehow in Japanese, "hato" = hachi (8) + to (10). IIRC Saiki originally made the joke at Kobato's ("Ko" = small + "hato" -> "bato" because of rendaku consonant mutation = "pigeon/dove") expense and Kobato adopted it as canon. Japanese wordplay is bananas (insert Akane joke here).

    • @daaaaaave
      @daaaaaave Před 2 měsíci +5

      Japanese has an exceptionally small number of possible sounds. It makes it particularly well suited to puns, and it’s a huge part of Japanese humor.
      To is the kun reading of the kanji for 10. This is also how they get the Day of Maid as May 10th (May do - “do” and “to” are closely related in Japanese).
      Miku’s signature Flappy Pigeon guitar has her whole name spelled out with numbers on the headstock. 5810 (go/kobato) 39 (miku), where the mi is the kun reading for 3.
