As much as I think that "We're All Alone" is the best ballad ever written by man, I love it when Boz sings the blues. No nonsense, no caterwauling, no drama - just a soulful voice squeezed dry of self-pity, presenting the facts. Despite the fact that Duane Allman is no longer among us, I like this version better than the studio version because Boz has grown into his voice.

So many legends came through Muscle Shoals Fame Studios. My older brother and sisters turned me on to many a great bands and music, but I found this on my own. The best part about youtube for me is the education I get in the comments, and searching out the source, which is always easy. Fenton Robinson deserves much credit for Duane's inspiration. Like following 'Shake your hips' from the Stones back to Slim Harpo. Got criticized (trolled?) for liking a song and not crediting the original, and since have been finding the source of things. First time I heard this we were playing cards at a friend’s house. Another friend was working as a DJ at a college radio station, and played it for us. The card game stopped until it finished. Love this song!
Hands down, no questions asked, one of the best jambs ever played by a group of some of the best musicians you’ll ever have the pleasure of listening to.
Mr. Scaggs, without a doubt is one of the most under rated musicians and vocalist of his era. He can tear your heart asunder with his guitar or his words. You feel the pathos in his performance. He puts his heart and soul into his music and we, the listeners are the recipients of a great gift. Thank you for your music Mr. Scaggs.
Such a rich performance. Pure talent all around...vocal tone, instrument phrasing, structure, synchronicity between the players...this is the magic that is music.
I was like "Really, that was 15 minutes already?" I could have listened to them go another 15. Always loved this song. I play it as loud as I can whenever I get a chance
I wonder if Boz still hears Duane when he sings this.....who else can play this like he could? Young Duane you were ahead of your time and even now I don't think we quite get the beautiful talent that you were. Here we are in 2016 and I still play every song that Duane Allman played on just to hear perfection......and you live on in the beautiful perfection you left for all of us.
Duane Allman, the road will go on forever. He will never suffer the two deaths. He has suffered the first. The second, when you are forgotten. He is one for the ages.
I have been a fan since this first came out in the 60’s this whole album is one of my favorites and this is an absolute amazing performance. Bravo Boz Scaggs
Remember calling into a radio station in Gainesville FL in 80 and asking for this to be played. DJ must of been over the moon as he had 16 min to light one up and enjoy this fabulous track. And this version is simply sublime. Thanks.
Listened to this again for about the 50th time. I heard that Boz plays this in the encore at most of his concerts. I am looking for his next tour and will make the trip. This is an amazing performance and seeing it is a bucket list experience.
I met Fenton Robinson in Mississippi in the 80s, and we talked about this cover of his. He was proud of the way Boz and the boys do it. RIP Fenton Robinson. Now go watch him do the original. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I went to a boz Skaggs concert this evening in Clearwater Florida, and they did this song as their final song of the night. It was so awesome that it gave me chills. Great show!
@Boz Scaggs ♪ Born and raised on Long Island. Child of the sixties and seventies as far as my musical influences are concerned. My appreciation of, in particular, blues music began back in college in the late sixties/early seventies. I loved listening to the new FM radio stations and shunned AM radio ("pop music"). To this day I cannot understand most people's infatuation with that drivel. The soul and feel of the blues is what I love. Made sure my two, now grown, children developed an appreciation of good music as part of their education. They have both thanked me for exposing them to the "classics" (Hendrix, Stones, Beatles etc.) I can only hope they will pass that onto their children as well. LONG LIVE ROCK & ROLL !!!
I remember hearing this when it first came out , i was sold boz a true texas blues man at heart , pure talent and Duane Allman now he was trurly gifted
When I was playing professionally back in the 1970’s, I’d heard Boz in Philadelphia and had the thought in my mind that I wanted to play in his band. I felt it was the finest band I’d ever heard! That never happened and it was my lifelong loss. God bless you, Boz, for all the years of incredible music.........for me, some of the greatest songs ever written.
In the late 70's and early 80's a band called Chicago Blues Power was the house band for the Saloon in San Francisco. The Saloon is the oldest continuously open bar in California and it is just a little hole in the wall. Boz under the alias Texas Slim would come and play with them. It was always a secret and my husband and I were always told about it because my husband was friends with the band. It was so awesome. Also my husband had met Boz and he always remembered my husbands name.
Many years ago I heard this song, but I couldn't find it in our little town a friend saw an Allman brothers cover and it blew me away and I decided I wanted to play my harp over it, played it cross harp with a d harmonica and it turned out sweet, now every time I hear something that I feel needs a little blues harp I add it in for me. Thanks Boz.
Boz Scaggs is one of the best musicians to ever come out of Dallas, Texas (and we've had more than a few, including Stevie Ray Vaughan). But Scaggs has always gone in unique directions. Back in 1975, when everybody else was looking to play stadiums at volume levels high enough to bring down any airplane foolish enough to fly too close, Boz did a black-tie optional concert at the venerable Dallas Music Hall featuring a 20-piece backing orchestra. What other rock oriented musician did anything like that back then? As you would expect, it was stellar. I've always thought of him as kind of the thinking man's blues interpreter, but any way you look at him, he's a national musical treasure. And, having recently seen him do a long televised interview, a first-rate human being too.
Mark Daniels Yes, I saw him live at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley California in 1972. He was wearing a classy all white suit. Amazing performance. I think Boz Skaggs fans are special people. He is so unique.
Listening to this song makes me cry like a baby all night long! Best blues song ever! This version is fantastic but nothing beats Duane playing on the original. But absolutely love this version too!! Thank you Boz:)
Sublime is the word. I would love to know when and where this video was recorded. It's an absolute masterclass on how to play slow blues as it utilizes the full talent of every member of the band. Hearing how Boz' vocals have evolved over 50 years is incredible. I've watched and just listened to this video so much with such pure enjoyment countless times and hear it in my head when I'm not. If it were a vinyl album it would be grooved and worn down beyond repair.
When I ran across this arrangement I was awestruck!!! Everything about it is over the top and Boz is amazing as always with the coolest vocals in the business. You can’t teach that kind of talent. It gives me the chills every time!!!!
this is a beautiful tune , I first heard it in high school and played it over the P.A. as a member of the radio club at Lord Beaver Brook High School in Calgary . In essence as 69 a year old I say keep on trucking in a positive manner and may God bless. Toby Nilsson

One of the Best Blues songs ever
Hands down, no questions asked, one of the best jambs ever played by a group of some of the best musicians you’ll ever have the pleasure of listening to.
Mr. Scaggs, without a doubt is one of the most under rated musicians and vocalist of his era. He can tear your heart asunder with his guitar or his words. You feel the pathos in his performance. He puts his heart and soul into his music and we, the listeners are the recipients of a great gift.
Thank you for your music Mr. Scaggs.
Ditto!
SOOO Underrated but still is doing a great job of taking us to another place with his brilliant music.
Underated? Perhaps to the uninitiated. But it's all cool. Boz is Boz, and no one else is. By degrees, pure silk.
@@rogermacauley806 Boz is one of the greatest singer, songwriters of his generation. Overlooked yeah! But as you said Boz is Boz.
@@jeffheim8588 Terribly, outrageously, cool. Do a contrast from this piece to his song, High Sierra. Brilliant...and, well hell, so many, many more.
Such a rich performance. Pure talent all around...vocal tone, instrument phrasing, structure, synchronicity between the players...this is the magic that is music.
My God he is incredible! And yes it does give me chills. One of the greatest performers ever underrated!
I'm sure Boz does....I know I do!
Duane Allman, the road will go on forever. He will never suffer the two deaths. He has suffered the first. The second, when you are forgotten. He is one for the ages.
Wow!
true that
So true!
Wow...what an expressive guitarist! Rare to hear such a defined puctuated lead.
I have been a fan since this first came out in the 60’s this whole album is one of my favorites and this is an absolute amazing performance. Bravo Boz Scaggs
I have been a been a fan since I first heard this song. I was 15 when I first heard it I'm 65 now & it still touches my Soul.
@@jaimemedina909 He had Duabe Allman on guitar earlier
Me too
His voice is so perfect it is astonishing
Remember calling into a radio station in Gainesville FL in 80 and asking for this to be played. DJ must of been over the moon as he had 16 min to light one up and enjoy this fabulous track. And this version is simply sublime.
Thanks.
From France originally. Was living in Boston and a friend of mine was at Uni there but had family in Gainesville
Bet that was on the Pipeline 😊
Listened to this again for about the 50th time. I heard that Boz plays this in the encore at most of his concerts. I am looking for his next tour and will make the trip. This is an amazing performance and seeing it is a bucket list experience.
THE BEST BLUES PERFORMANCE OF ALL TIME!
I have listened to this so many times! I love this song!
Boz the legend. This performance is a flawless rendition of his 69 classic, only better. Just brilliant.
I’ve been a Boz Skaggs fan since the 70’s and I’ve never heard this song before. Wonderful!
NO way this is too long. Now way. Sweet blues with a ceegar and Whiskey. Never too long. Damn fine music.

I rarely just listen to this one time through. Always multiple times in a row!
One of the best jams Ive ever heard. The ending is incredible
Wow. A blast from the past. Ol’ Boz hasn’t missed a step. Loved this. Thank you.
If you love the blues, listen and honor Boz Scaggs. The man gives me chills!!!!
Such a beautiful and daunting tune performed by a fabulous artist!
@Boz Scaggs ♪ Thank you for acknowledging my comment ! From Toronto, Canada. Never get tired fo your tunes.
I met Fenton Robinson in Mississippi in the 80s, and we talked about this cover of his. He was proud of the way Boz and the boys do it. RIP Fenton Robinson. Now go watch him do the original. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Amazing performance of a blues masterpiece, bravo Boz!
Wow! No words to describe how beautiful this is! Now THIS is what I call good music!
I believe that is Drew Zingg playing guitar behind Boz. He's a great player and the entire band is hot.
I was just wondering who the guitarist is. Damn fine artist at his craft....amazing. Thanks
Ever here it with Duane Almond
@@timmynormand8082 I have heard it with Duane Allman.
A tall scotch, and this song, and a warm woman. It doesn't get any better.
You got that right brother, you got that right.
especially if you get all 3 at the same time.
Life could not get any better
Very classy coment
Just the name Boz Skaggs sends shivers up my spine.
I went to a boz Skaggs concert this evening in Clearwater Florida, and they did this song as their final song of the night. It was so awesome that it gave me chills. Great show!
Nice
What an amazing artist. He has only mellowed with age. That's some sweet blues.
I keep coming back and replaying this amazing rendition of an outstanding song.
Thank goodness he’s keeping the Allman Brothers music Alive , I’m grateful !
Damn. No matter how many times, this just blows me away. Damn that Gibson sounds soooo good.
Artistry, have loved this song for decades, Boz not only keeps it alive, it doesn't get better
He is so good.
I’ve heard him play this live.
Exquisite.
Absolutely a fantastic song. Great guitar work. Love it.
Guitars (both leads) serve the song, rather than swamping it. But I feel the same about the keyboards, horns, and percussion.
Take notes, children. This is how you play the blues. I mean the real low down dirty blues.
they’re checking their phones right now🤔
There’s too much hip hop and electronic stuff for kids to appreciate this. We’ll probably pray for them right? ☺️
Absolutely
Don't forget Steve Ray Vaughn
Them low down dirty stink’n blues
I remember hearing this when it first came out , i was sold boz a true texas blues man at heart , pure talent and Duane Allman now he was trurly gifted
Just brilliant what a voice and top musicians ❤❤❤
Boz has always been the BEST. Makes my heart flutter. For 40 years
Amazingly smooth voice and a superb guitarist! Loved him since this came out the first time with brother Duane.
So amazing. Thank you for such soulful music!
That soulful voice mixed with the haunting guitar melody will stay in my heart and memory a very, very long time. Thanks for a masterpiece of music.
God Damn! Not only one of the most unique and beautiful voices but an insanely gifted guitar player as well! What a great song!
The classic par excellence! Cette musique m'entraine l'ame dans un dedale de vertiges et de frissons...depuis plus de 50 ans!
Thanks Boz.
It's been 40 something years since I first saw Boz in concert. I just found out that I will see him again for my 64rd birthday! AWESOME!!!
Me too! June 14th
I did for mine too, just last month in late October 🎶
Wish I could see Boz with you bro 62 and still Rambling on
I saw Boz in 1972 in Denver. Played with Steve Miller. They did a bunch of songs together. Been a fan ever since.
@@richardbaxter4480Lucky you! I bet that was quite a show! I'm a HUGE Boz & Steve Miller Band fan. 🎶
Never get tired of this number or Boz!
He couldn’t carry SRV’s guitar strap and furthermore, he never gave Fenton Robinson a dime for this song
AS Uncle Neil Young did , up & out in a blink !!!
I'll agree with that, we need more artist like this but in reality he was one of a kind. I hope the newer, upcoming artist learn from his experience.
He was in the same high school as Steve Miller.
Outstanding review! I coudn't have said it better myself - so thanx for doing it for me!
I keep coming back for this great video & music !!! I want this played at my funeral.
No kidding !!! Love it.
The more I hear Boz the more I love him! I just can't get enough!

@@sandrablair5772 I'm 60 and have being listening to Boz since I was about 20 too. Think Low Down was the first track I heard of his.
Mark Daniels Yes, I saw him live at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley California in 1972. He was wearing a classy all white suit. Amazing performance.
I think Boz Skaggs fans are special people. He is so unique.
Love it too❤️jojo is my nickname😊
Deeply, deeply soulful both with his guitar and his vocal.
Listening to this song makes me cry like a baby all night long!
Best blues song ever! This version is fantastic but nothing beats Duane playing on the original. But absolutely love this version too!!
Thank you Boz:)
He has a sweet place in my music heart. Gem in his era and still now, today, one of his best
Boz has and always given his blues soul the finest in history Lov ya btother
Sublime is the word. I would love to know when and where this video was recorded. It's an absolute masterclass on how to play slow blues as it utilizes the full talent of every member of the band. Hearing how Boz' vocals have evolved over 50 years is incredible. I've watched and just listened to this video so much with such pure enjoyment countless times and hear it in my head when I'm not. If it were a vinyl album it would be grooved and worn down beyond repair.
This is from the Music Palace in San Francisco. The entire show is killer/available on DVD.

I’ve always loved Boz Scaggs- his voice from the 70’s has matured but I still like his range.
