How can you sing TTYDs praises and NOT remember all the peach segments 😂
“It’s my favorite Paper Mario”
*doesn’t remember the central town or any of the Peach storyline* 😂
When he called the interludes DLC 😂😂😂😂😂
I was watching this on my TV and switched to my phone just to find this comment 😂😂😂 like the entire interludes were all about peach teaching the computer about love in exchange for emailing Mario 😂
I was 14 lol
@@BeatEmUps it’s okay we still love you 😂❤️ just gave me a little chuckle this morning lol
In between each chapter, you get a glimpse of Peach and Bowser's perspective. And yes, Peach does talk to the computer during all of her segments. It's a little spoiler, but it's an almost 20 year old game at this point.
I can see how Peach's part might be forgettable since there's no fighting, but I'll never forget when Peach had to figure out how to sneak around undetected 🫨😶 arguably my favorite part as a kid cause I was laughing the whole way 🤣
When the ending with Peach and the Robot throws people off I'm immediately like "tell me you didn't play the game without telling me you didn't play the game" lol
The game came out in 2004. If someone only played it once way back when, I don't really blame them for forgetting those sections.
@@jossebrodeur6033yuup it was cool to play as her but it was not all that. Bowswr sektions was way more memorable😊😊😅
I’m kind of in the same boat. The “it came out 20 years ago people forget” it’s like the core of the story that’s like saying I love FF7 but it came out so long ago I forgot who sephiroth is or I love mortal kombat but it came out so long ago I forgot there was kicking in it
@@samwhite4961
It's a major part of the story, but it's also not the most interesting part of it either. The Peach sections are relatively boring compared to the Bowser and Mario sections of the game. It's less forgetting Sephiroth is in FF7 and more like forgetting a boss fight that was just there.
@@jossebrodeur6033 I exaggerated but I think that’s still downplaying it. You revisit peach after every chapter and it’s hugely important to the story. Maybe it’s not like forgetting Sephiroth but it’s more than forgetting a boss fight. Maybe like forgetting a party member. It’s still strange after somebody says they love the game
Tomb Raider was the highlight of the presentation for me. Can't wait to replay those games!
Being able to jump between old graphics and revamped on the fly is huge. I was blown away by that with the master chief collection and love it.
It must have been a while since you’ve played ttyd because that Peach segment at the end is part of the original. You play as peach at the end of every chapter to see what she’s up to.
Never played the game but recognised it from gamegrumps
nah he is just a fake nintendo gamer he just buys the games as a collector for youtube content but like knows nothing about actual games like most real nintendo gamers. If you hear him at 11:28 he says he thought it was a new Paper Mario because we already have 2 for the Switch... um no we only have one Paper Mario game called Origami King.
I dont know how you played TTYD but don't remember TEC!!!! Great character in the game and made the peach portions of the game a little more interesting than they were in pm64
Yeah, that bit was a little odd "It's my favourite paper mario but I do not remember one of the characters that have a very impactful part on the story"
@kwesmo17 I wanna give him the benefit of the doubt and say he forgot due the fact that it came out 20 years ago, but yea idk. Would love to see em play through it though if he decides to on stream
That title absolutely describes the feelings I had after the Direct ended lol, very paper thin indeed.
Thousand year door is not only my favorite paper Mario game. It is my favorite Mario game ever.
This is the best direct we've ever had every single announcement was tailored perfectly for me, everyone like and comment. Dont let wood gaslight you into not gaslighting wood.
I'd love some of what you're smoking. F- direct!
YEAH! I can't believe Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door!
@@TRJ2525L
More like, Nintendo Midrect.
@@josecolon395 not so bright are you
I'm personally exited for Mario Kart wave six and the new princess Peach game looks fantastic! Iam super happy about TTYD as well!!
Yes and yes
FUNKY KONG BBY
INSANELY excited about TTYD, I've played Paper Mario and TTYD on their original consoles, and BOY do I LOVE TTYD!
Once again, my favorite directs are the one people hate. I'm insanely hyped for a new Vanillaware game, they're one of the most underrated developer ever. I'm also super excited to give Another Code and TTYD a try since I never played them before.
A lot of people see a jrpg or any game with an anime artstyle and immediately write it off it's sad
People only think Directs are good when they get mainline games for big franchises. TTYD remake is genuinely insane and tells us Nintendo is listening.
@@PedroMatos482like they forget the Nintendo switch will die off soon and they already released their big flagship games already and MORE in this direct.
Hate is a very strong word. I don’t think people HATED it. Feeling Mid= indifference.
I as screaming my head off with joy when they announced Another Code. The first one is in my top 3 most favorite game of all time. I live in the states so I never got a chance to play the sequel and that had always bothered me. I feel it's one of those games that not a lot of people played but for those who did love it. I played the first so many times on my DS I lost count. I thought it will be one of those games lost to times, but to see it getting a remake makes me so happy. I want that game in my hands now! I am also looking forward to Spy x Anya, but I am a fan of the series. It looks like a cute and cozy game. Something to play to unwind from a busy day. I was also happy with the announcement of Paper Mario, but would of liked it more if it bundled with a remake of the first Paper Mario. I know you can play the first one with Nintendo Online but you can to with Link's Awakening and that got a remake. Over all I enjoyed the direct.
I never played either of the games, but I preordered the physical on Best Buy as soon as it came up. Super hyped to play it, and I have a feeling this game will have an extremely limited print run and end up being extremely rare as well.
The first one was so good! The puzzles are challenging but fun, the music is hauntingly beautiful and the to me the most important thing is the story and characters are amazing! I have a feeling you are right about the print run. I am holding off for now just in case like weeks before release they announce like a collector edition. I know I have a better chance getting hit with lighting, but still. @@danbooke2001
Honestly, I'm the most happy about fzero 99 lol Gives me childhood vibes of playing with my family, lots of fun so far!
I am also happy to see that they've given Peach her a unique style of game, like they did with Luigi and the Mansion series, rather than a reskinned SMB.
omg I am so excited for Japan vlogs!!! I rewatch yours all the time!
I thought this was a solid Direct overall, especially if you're a Mario fan. Princess Peach Showtime and PM TTYD especially looked great, and for me, F-Zero 99, Another Code and the SpyxFamily game were my other highlights. Not a 10/10 for me, but a solid 7/10 (or a B grade)
Traditionally 7/10 is a C
That Contra re-imagining by WayForward looked really good as well.
I didn’t realise you are going to Japan. I am in Japan for the first time in two weeks and super excited. Your old video’s definitely resulted into me booking Japan
These Nintendo directs was amazing for us Mario fans
Yeah, and as a guy who used to play a lot of Mario games, I'm actually indicted to play one again, there was a little bit here for everyone you at least will leave the same you might play 1 or 2 games if it's 1 or 2 I could understand someone being like yo. U, this is mid, but if you're really gonna sit here and play 4 or 5 games on this list. It's not mid, it's good. It did its job, you're gonna buy the game.
I feel like if you we're expecting a ton from this direct, given the Switch 2 on the horizon, then you played yourself.
Yeah but that doesn't help get clickbait views
@@Gfp1995 haha I suppose you’re right
Bahahaha
Considering the summer is still getting games and the switch is only declining for 2 of the 6 1/2 years so far at 20% and 21% decline in 2021 and 2022 end of fiscal year respectively..... The switch is still selling really well. We won't even get a code name from Nintendo till 2025! The next console is still far away!
@DANCERcow are you dumb?
That scene with peach teaching the computer love was in the originall game
The story cycled between bowser mario and peach after every chapter
Trace memory was an excellent story based game that I really enjoyed. All I remember is that it was very “what will happen next” and had a satisfying ending. So I’m very excited to try Another Code when it comes out.
Honestly, chat saying ''this was the Best / a Great Direct'' would only be gaslighting themselves.
What do you mean Wood! This is the best direct we've ever had! Every announcement was taylered perfectly for me! And PAPER MARIO THE THOUSAND YEAR DOOR OMG! how could you Wood I expected more from you😮
PAPER MARIO THE THOUSAND YEAR DOOR OMG!!!
Come on Wood!
40 minute direct and you mention one old game from 20 years ago. The Direct was trash be honest
@@bobbydazzler329 Pov: notice sarcasm challenge: *IMPOSSIBLE*
12:40 that part with Peach and the AI are in the original. I've recently watched Game Grumps' playthrough of Gamecube PM:TYD and it's there.
I enjoyed it overall-there were some fun looking games to give a shot. There were plenty I’d like to play, but none I’m moving to the very top of my “to be played” pile. I knew there wasn’t likely going to be anything Zelda (amiibos don’t count in my book) and I’m always happier when there is, but I liked the direct overall. 🤷🏻♀️ I’m realizing I’m pretty happy when I don’t listen to all the direct predictions before a direct-can’t be disappointed with no expectations. 😂
This live direct was fun to watch with you and everyone :)
Ooh! Going back to Japan? Enjoy! I should be going again next May, hope this Museum will be open by then.
😂😂😂😂love ur channel it's so funny ihope once the new switch comes in r u going t do a video showing u buying the system
I am a nintendo fan and a father of a 7 year-old girl and she fell in love with all the mario games coming up and I loved seeing her so excited about games. I was hoping for some Zelda ports coming to switch. Still a win for Mario fans tho! not all games cater to all demographics.
Mario fans are eating good this year! 😋 🍽️
The definition of this could've been an email. I'm sorry chat. I'm sorry.
The peach segments were in the original game. They happened between every chapter, which is probably why you don't remember them. They are really short compared to how much time you spend playing as Mario.
Okay, this Direct for me, was good enough, with very nice announcements and surprises. PLAY ANOTHER CODE!! As a huge Splatoon fan, Side Order LOOKS SICK!
And I find your intro to be pretty on point! 👍🏻
I was in Kyoto last week it would have been amazing to see the Nintendo museum
Nintendo actually puts out a mid/bad direct (with the exception of Paper Mario) and Wood is super nice about it despite being so mean to the great directs we've gotten in the past 😂
He has never been mean about it. He has said it wasn’t for him and some people got all hurt. He doesn’t have to like everything, I look forward to when he doesn’t care what people say 😂 then maybe we will get mean Wood.
@@timdrake4951I mean.. For years Wood basically cared about nothing else except the BOTW sequel when these directs would come around. I would specifically watch his reactions because of the great games announced, and he would act like the amazing surprises were crap because they weren't Zelda. And then he would bash it online. Then even after TOTK came out, he literally started the last Direct video pretending like he was barfing and called everyone piss ants 😂The direct today had ONE good reveal, and I was excited to FINALLY agree with Wood tearing the direct apart, yet he was super kind this time. He's still a nice guy in general, it's not like he's a bad guy for disagreeing with me for most of these Directs or anything.
For what it was, I think it was pretty good! If you are a Mario fan you are THRIVING. If you aren’t, then it was aight.
This vid was the best vid ever!!!!
SUPER FIRE FRFR
The biggest thing for me was the Eastward DLC, loved the base game
Another code was really exciting to me! And not buying Paper Mario for the gamecube was one of my biggest regrets, until now!
So if the f zero game was completely new it would have been pretty great
wow, speedy editing :O good job:)
I enjoyed it. Ive been waiting on news of Eiyuden forever. Princess Peach looks good, TTYD is super exciting and if it does well along with Super Mario RPG, could possibly lead to a resurgence of good mario rpgs. F-ZERO 99 looks like a blast. Its not the "best direct we've ever had", but i enjoyed it
Super funny how 1000 year door was in your podcast list of games you’d like to see ported to the switch! It’s like your wish came true 🎉😂
The thing with Tomb Raider is that its levels are basically build using something like a minecraft editor (with added diagonals). You're playing inside a grid of building blocks, that's how they got the maps to be so large on a 1994 MS DOS pc. That also means they can't do a whole lot with any remaster without also changing the way the game plays and feels. So for anyone who wants to play the original Tomb Raider, this is as good as it gets.
I used to play "Mario vs Donkey Kong" on gameboy color, it was just "Donkey Kong" known as "Donkey Kong 1994", still on my top 5 games of all time to date. Very excited for this game on switch
Luigi’s mansion dark moon is my favorite game of all time and I can’t wait for it to come out
Amazing video 😄 Wood
Yeah. I went and purchased a PC and started playing things I assumed I'd never get to play. I only have 2 games. Not as disappointed by the directs as I used to be.
I played the Another Code: Two Memories on the original 'Chunky' DS and loved it, would recommend it on that type of console, not sure how they will replicate some of the puzzles on the switch as you had to fold the DS slightly to get the screens to mirror for a solution. But certainly one that I would love to play again.
Great video (and title!)
Love your videos so much
13:00 I can 100% promise you I remember the scenes where Princess Peach gradually teaches the computer what love means. That's not new.
I'm really excited to see Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. I have only played the Super Paper Mario game that was on the Wii and I really liked it. I liked it so much that I remember looking around for The Thousand Year Door only to find out that I couldn't seem to find it anywhere (at least on systems that I played). I have heard a lot of good things about The Thousand-Year Door and I am so ready to check that out! I'm also kinda excited about Super Mario Rpg, but not as much honestly. I'm just not sure it's something I'd really like, but I'll probably give it a try or watch someone play it to see what it's like
12:35, that's just a scene from the actual game. The robot falls in love with Peach. It's in the same segments that also brought us the Peach shower scene. Weird game.
The stuff with Tec was in the original game. It was Peach's side story
I’m amazed people thought this direct was mad I loved it
13:06 "There was a lot of meat to look at..." 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
I'll be getting Tomb Raider when that comes out..loved playing those on the original PlayStation. Dave the Diver looks kinda cool..
With these games,(Tomb Raider)the gameplay is so fun, the graphics don't even really matter to me.. can't wait!
So a couple things I am really happy that Louise drew's mention to us coming to the switch I hope they bring louise's mansion one and do the HD treatment as well. Too I am very very very very happy that they're bringing 1000 year door to the switch and at home peach thing you saw at the end was in the original
I actually rather liked it myself. Another Code looked cool, the Princess Peach game looked way better than I expected it to, and it was nice to see some more ports/remasters announced that I thought were a bit overdue (Luigi's Mansion 2 and TTYD). My favourite bit was the Tomb Raider trilogy announcement; I struggle with the keyboard controls on PC, so having a console version to take on the go with all the DLC and optional remastered visuals? Yes please. Also F-Zero 99 was not something I expected, but it looks absolutely hilarious.
I do wish we'd seen something about Metroid Prime 4 or Professor Layton, especially if we're nearing the end of the Switch's life cycle, but other than that I thought it was a good direct.
The AI computer was definitely in the original ‘The Thousand Year Door’. I can’t believe you have forgotten to be honest?! It looks as though there isn’t much extra in the game. However it is still an amazing game and I really want everyone to buy it and love it and tell the world because you never know, Nintendo may go back to making the Paper Mario games in the same vein again. Which would be the best possible thing to happen to the franchise.
Another Code = Trace Memory
I remember playing it when I was in highschool.
was waiting on this just finished watching the direct lmao 😂
Only thing I was excited for was Fzero 99. But that will probably only be around a couple months. They could have said golden sun was out today on switch online. But here we wait
The direct was cute. I don’t personally care about most of the games but it was cute in general. I’d say Nintendo doesn’t have more major, impactful games because they’re focusing on the next console
That 100 hero game music really had me interested.
I'm most excited for.... the next direct when they announce the switch 2 lmao
😂 Robot was in the original. It creepily watched Peach and talked to her during segments where you had limited control over her.
Mario vs Donkey kong os a puzzle platformer, it gets pretty challending later on. Pretty interesting puzzles
Mario vs donkey Kong was one of my favorite games on the game boy advance. The puzzles do get pretty challenging the further you go. Don't judge a book by its cover.
That sushi diver looks amazing to me…. :)
So believe it or not, I did put Tomb Raider on my personal bingo Card. Though I said "Tomb Raider Collection" on mine, and I was referring to the recent games, Tomb Raider, Rise of the TR, Shadow of the TR.
Zelda Skyward Sword had one of the last Amiibo's. Totally want to play Paper Mario and RPG.
I genuinely was happy to watch this one! Bandle tale looked like a cozy art style that I’d enjoy, and eastward octopia looked fun as well! I have such great memories of Thousand year door, and that trombone game made me laugh so hard! Anyways a little too many of the same old action turn based ones again but some highlights snuck in there
sir, you put respect on mario vs donkey kong, they are great games and im excited to play it again on my switch. that was my go to car game as a kid
I'm a big Dave the diver fan so I'm happy to get a date for the game!
Oh Wood, you forgot the Peach parts of Thousand Year Door, haha! 😋
Oh are you coming to Tokyo ?
Hope I could spot you if you do 😊
If ever the Switch felt tired, it was today. It want terrible, but nothing got me excited really.
I still have a massive backlog though, so I can deal with that for a little while.
Awesome, now thousand year door fans can finally play the game for the first time
Have a awsome day wood
I don't think you said it in any videos yet but you said you were going to Japan on the podcast
I looooved the Mario v donkey Kong games growing up so you bet imma buy it again if not for my own nostalgia but also for my kids to play.
Paper Mario 1000 year door- Let’s go!!
The Peach and TEC stuff was for sure in the original game, it was the in between chapters though. So it probably just didn't stick in your mind.
Sick video!
plot twist: Peach's game is a souls-like, Mario vs DK will contend for best fighting GOTY.
3:16 Love Spy x Family. Read some of the manga and watched the first episode. Hopefully Tatsuya Endo will learn to love his creation in the same way as the manga/anime community love it.
Not that wood said he paints his eyes blue for this video thumbnails now I can't stop looking at his eyes
I think I fell in love?
Ubisoft did a really good job on Fenyx rising. Fingers crossed it's smooth like that.
I'm also going to Japan this month! Osaka
the robot segments were absolutely apart of the original game. There were peach and/or bowser segments between each level.
Finally! I am one of the very first to watch one your videos 😂
Can't wait for Mario Rpg and Paper Mario.
I felt like this direct was solid. One of the best overall compared to other recent directs
Every time Nintendo or any company really does something with a game like the F-Zero 99 or re-releases a game i hope its to gauge consumer interest in that series to see if a new version of the game is worth putting the money into.
I’m so excited because I’ve never played Thousand Year Door! I loved paper Mario & paper Mario origami king, so I know I’ll love it. For y’all it’s a remake, for me it’s a brand new paper mario game! 👏🏼
Nintendo: keeping you entertained with the same games on every Nintendo console.
Never in a thousand years would I expect a Ttyd update
when I saw paper mario i initially thought it was a remake of the original paper mario before it hit me it was the thousand year door. Those two games are the best paper mario games ever. Verry happy TTYD remake is coming out and now hopping that the original paper mario on n64 gets the same treatment soon after as that one was my childhood game.
