I would put Breath of The Wild at F Tier

True
Trick question/ video lol. There legit is no worst or bad Zelda game to ever exist 😅
Put age of calamity in A or S tier.
I love how impactful Bob's tierlist was to the point that Wood actually had to make this video just to set the universe back on track after the mess that that tierlist was lol. That podcast episode was hilarious and painful at the same time, I absolutely loved it! lol

I 100% agree. 👍

Bob literally unplugged my life support with his list, and thankfully you’ve plugged it back in. Thank you Wood, maybe now I can live long enough to play Tears of the Kingdom…
Yeah the more generic and pleasing tier list, wow.
😊😊😊
A Link To The Past is one of the all-time greatest games ever.
Good to see people who respect this masterpiece
@@Longbranchking YES!!! "Masterpiece" is spot on. Definitely my favorite in the entire franchise, with Ocarina of Time being a close 2nd.
Wrong
Edit: I don’t even know why I ever said this, I’ve never even played the game. That’s just your opinion.
Edit 2: I have only played a link between worlds and ocarina of time 3d.

Twilight princess SS tier period.
100%
I agree
TP kinda lacked 'soul' in a way, don't know how to put it into words.
Idk I think your wrong compared to Ocarina of Time it’s not up there I don’t even think it’s as good as A link to the past. It’s like Skyward sword level
The dark theme is done better by majoras mask
I honestly love Spirit Tracks. It's such a step up from Phantom Hourglass in terms of presentation, story, music, and exploration. It also doesn't make you replay parts of the main dungeon to get to the new stuff. It's S or A for me (I'd put Phantom Hourglass in B or C).
Spirit Tracks music slaps! I remember having so much fun tooting my train horn in time to the overworld music when I traveled anywhere lol
I hope they port it to Switch some day. Zelda and trains? Sign me up!
Honestly it was a lot of fun such a good game that main song gets me excited still
I agree. I loved spirit tracks, one of my favorites.
He really did spirit tracks (and ph) dirty, are the ds games the best of the series? certainly not. Are they worse than gba four swords and tri force heros? absolutely not.
Glad you put Twilight Princess so high. Playing that on Wii was one of the most fun I have ever had playing a video game. The darkness of the world, the motion controls and the fact you can turn into a wolf to solve puzzles was so fun!
The atmosphere , the musics , the story , Midna this game is awesome 😄
I much prefer the GameCube version of Twilight Princess. The GameCube port is one of Wood's Top 10 rare games he wishes he had. So glad I still have my copy to this day.
Despite being born in the early 90's, Twilight Princess was actually my first forray into playing any Zelda game. It has since been my absolute favorite zelda game, even moreso than even Breath of the Wild. Because in my opinion Twilight Princess has by far the best story in the franchise, only rivaled by the lore revelations at the end of Skyward Sword. That said, I acknowledge the downfalls of the game so I completely agree with Wood's placement of it as only being S tier.
My favorite Zelda game of all time 🙌💯🐺🐗🪞
I agree with everything else you said but you lost me at motion controls
Well thought out. I loved Majora’s Mask for its depth of characters so I would have put it in SS but that’s just me. It was great 👍🏻
Windwaker definitely deserves to be in one of the S tiers, It is my favourite game too and the music, dungeons and story in this are amazing. Whenever I go to my dads house I always load it up on his Wii and sit there for hours on it. Honestly I think windwaker has aged amazingly as even looking at it now compared to our latest Zelda games it isn't grainy or anything, just colourful and fun.
(also I rank Totk a B I got bored pretty fast as it is quite similar to Botw)
I agree, my biggest gripe was the dungeons not being on the level of something like TP or OOT
A Link to the Past = Masterpiece
should be in SS
@@tafscornershop Yeah that one's a SS for me, it's the perfect 2D Zelda game
My first Zelda game
@@BallStars2017My first game on a console I owned, I think I might have been 10 years old or something.
I’m biased because I used to watch my dad play this in 97/98 when I was 6/7 years old. But it’s some of my greatest life memories. The nostalgia and how accurately I remember the sound effects etc is almost too much if I play it now. Game play wise it’s simple yet so creative at the same time, incredible. Has to be SS tear.
I actually liked Spirit Tracks and it was my first Zelda. Maybe I'm just biased because of that. I actually didn't mind the touch screen controls and blowing into the microphone I thought it was cool.
I really loved Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks too! Growing up I couldn't play the 3D Zelda games on TV consoles. I had a coordination problem that was helped if I could see my hands in my peripheral vision, so the GameBoy games I could play and love, but I could only watch my siblings play Ocarina of Time, Windwaker, etc. When I was in my twenties, I received a second hand DS lite and Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. For the first time ever, I was able to play in an expansive, 3D adventure too. It was so thrilling! Sometimes I wonder if people's experience of Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks differs because of what games they played before those two titles and were able to compare them to. Comparing Phantom Hourglass to Windwaker versus comparing it to the Minish Cap and Oracles games probably gives one a very different perspective.
Don't worry, you're not the only one who likes ST (and Phantom Hourglass). I love those games. Idk why the hate towards them 😅
Spirit Tracks was far from my first Zelda game, and I still love it to this day.
@@zeldakasumi I am so glad that someone else has the problem of seeing their hands... For me the handheld component is key because I get nauseous with playing on the tv. This is an issue with 3D rides for me too. I'm ok if I can see the mechanics of the ride but without them it's too much. I've never heard of anyone else like that before.
@@KevinAccetta wel with phantom hourglass the controlls where realy annoying and what i hated was keep having to go to the same dungeon over and over again redo all the ANNOYING puzzles till you got to a new section get out and at the next plotpoint go trough it again then go out again then come abck again etc. and no shortcuts either nope having to redo the same annoying parts over and over again at 1 point I just said f this I am done
“It’s not the worst game, it’s just not what I like for a Zelda game.” That’s how I feel about BOTW and TOTK. To each their own
I really don't like BOTW for a Zelda game. Totally agree.
Green Tunic and Green Hat or no thanks , , at least my stance 😂 🎃👍👍
Yeah botw and totk are an open world games masquerading as zelda. Give me back huge dungeons. A linear story with a cool companion. Unlockable items.
@@3ericw wasn't "Ocarina of Time " basically open world once you leave Kokiri Forest ???
@@wyldelf2685Agreed. And wasn’t other titles like Windwaker also open world? To be truly “linear “ Zelda would be a side scrollerish game
The thing about twilight princess explains a lot!! When I was younger I used to play it on the wii, I recently bought it for the GameCube and was very confused because I remembered everything being flipped the other way 😂
For some reason I still go back every now and then to rewatch your old Zelda retrospective video. Not the one you redid, but the one you cringe at. It’s actually quite relaxing to me.

Yes 100% an ss
Definitely SS tier. Best "traditional style" Zelda imo. Only thing is for me the combat and boss did seem pretty easy, even when I replayed it last year on Hero mode on the HD port

Well, Nostalgia aside, it's unfortunately not nearly as good as Ocarina of Time, Majoras Mask or Wind Waker.
@@Force-of-Will it’s still better than oot
Spirit tracks is super good. It even has one of the best OSTs in the series. I also love Phantom Hourglass, but that's mostly nostalgia.
I agree phantom hour glass for me is at least A tier.
God the whole Malladus fight theme (Phase 1 to 3) gives me life
Phantom hourglass is one of my least favorite Zelda games in my opinion
Not nostilaga. It was an incredible game that really pushed the ds hardware. Full zelda game with tons of awesome little quirks that scream DS. Phantom hourglass didn't disappoint. Really wish I got to play spirit tracks. It's 80$ everywhere I look now
I vastly preferred phantom hourglass to spirit tracks. I just did not like the train and much preferred the boat so at least I could plot my own course.
Link between world was SUCH a good game and the reveal at the end genuinely surprised me. Such a great game
Same.. LBW is so great traveling 2 worlds.
The wall mechanic was a great gimmick. Maybe my favorite Zelda gimmick. I'd love to see it revisited in a future game. Maybe a 3D one.
I loved it too
one of my favorite games
i think there is something wrong with me i don't like this game as much as other zelda games, but then again my type of game is more mario and luigi rpg type game and also paper mario.
I was initially turned off by Link’s Awakening (remake) because of the art style but somewhere along the way of sort of forcing myself to play through it, I fell in love with it. I’ve probably played 5 or 6 Zelda games and it is right up there with my favorites, maybe right behind Ocarina of Time
Great list! For me personally I would put “A Link to the Past” as a AA. This game was my “Ocarina of Time”. When “A Link Between Worlds” released with its special edition 3DS I was beyond excited.
So glad to see respect put to Minish Cap's name. That game in incredible.
It’s about time!

One day I will find someone who has nostalgia for Phantom Hourglass as I do. As a kid who grew up in love with Wind Waker on my favourite console the GameCube and was also a die hard handheld gamer Phantom was like a portable wind Waker to me and although some of the mechanics were batshit frustrating I still loved it thoroughly and it might actually be the first Zelda I completed
Phantom Hourglass was my introduction to Zelda games and I still like to play it
@@Michelle-nl5xl same
I don’t have nostalgia for phantom hourglass but I do love it 8 think it’s better than Spirit tracks. I still wouldn’t put it on the level of the A tiers but it’s at least a B tier for me.
100% agree with what you said about BOTW. Overall great list!
Zelda 2 is severely underrated and actually is the blueprint for the modern games. Open world, towns, with NPCs, multiple quest, and somewhat strategic combat with the use of spells. Just because its a side scroller doesn't make it a black sheep. Once you get past the initial grind and beginning the game gets better and you can actually see how it influenced the other games.
Couldn't agree more. It's not a perfect game but it is a personal favorite of mine. I still go back and play through it every couple of years.
The combat is actually pretty good for its time once you get the hang of it.
I've beaten it (Zelda 2) on Zelda Game & Watch 35th Anniversary :)
I just played this game for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I love it. Fun fact is also that it inspired the Smash Bros Link with the 2d combat attacks like downward thrust and upward thrust
I would love a remake
8:30
Woody not realizing that all this praise he's giving to OoT is actually more accurately ALttP's praise. OoT is essentially ALttP in 3D.
He is not realizing alot of stuff, especially saying that before OoT all games looked like NES platformers and OoT became first of a kind. Guy has very poor knowledge.
Thank you Wood for doing this ranking properly!!👍👍👍
I really liked Zelda 2 🤷🏻♂️. I’ve replayed it multiple times. It’s different and I appreciate it as a change of pace. I like the rpg qualities of choosing where to dump my points as well.
Yeah, same. And the whole “what if Z2 had been the first game?” argument - Hollow Knight devs said they took inspiration from Z2. I think you can see it in the combat. So there were definitely great ideas to come out of this game.
I’m not saying I wanted it to be the Zelda template, but it’s cool to series try bold new directions. It wasn’t just a lame attempt to cash in on Mario-style like this guy seems to think. Not the best in the series, but in no way a F tier game. I’d give it a solid B.
Zelda 2 is A or S tier for me . The music is great, it’s challenging, and the combat is really fun.
Yea the game has a really popular speedrunning scene now
I think phantom hourglass gets a lot more hate than it’s due. I think it held up quite strongly as a follow on from windwaker considering it was released for the DS.
I probably had the most immersive fun on a handheld device with phantom hourglass when it comes to zelda. All the others i’d put down for a week maybe only to pick them up and wander round aimlessly trying to figure out what i was last doing 😅 phantom hourglass was simple fun that let you draw on the map to keep track of what or where you were last thinking of and that really helped to pick it back up at any given time 👌
the Oracle series were my first introduction to Zelda, and how I fell in love with the Zelda series. Those 2 definitely deserve an S or higher rank for adventure and story!
"You think this little guy is a chicken chaser?" Love the OG Fable reference :D
The original Zelda was revolutionary, it was so novel in many aspects. I remember when the map first was published in Nintendo Power, I was baffled when I realized that I had just discovered like 10% of secret passages. Good times.
You have Hyrule Warriors but no Age of Calamity or Cadence of Hyrule. Both are great games that deserve to be on the list since you included Hyrule Warriors.
The music remix in cadence of Hyrule are chefs kiss.
Phantom Hourglass is an amazing game that used different aspects of the DS in really neat ways and I believe that it is a great sequel to Wind Waker!
I’m late to the Zelda series and A Link Between Worlds was my first Zelda game. I replayed it 3 times with my 3DS XL and it really made me fall in love with the series 🩷 I’m glad you ranked it so high 😍
First tier list that’s more or less spot on for my preferences, echoing what other people said our age definitely plays a part in this. Ocarina was my first Zelda and it’s hard to not consider that the golden standard!
I just played Skyward Sword for the 1st time, on the Switch. It was even better than I hoped. Along with Majora's Mask, it has some of the best dungeons in a Zelda game. Zelda II had some problems, but it's still a classic. The Oracle games were disappointing to me, because there was too much inventory management. Capcom made those games
SSword is awesome, I really like it :) Majora's is and will always be my favorite and the best Zelda game in my opinion
Skyward Sword was my first Zelda game that I actually played through and I loved it.
It’s funny what the slight difference in age does for nostalgia. For me, OoT is a solid A tier, maybe B, but Link to the Past is an SS tier game. I’m 43, so a lot of my friends in the same age group would agree. That Christmas playing Link to the Past and listening to Pearl Jam was one of my favorite times in the 90s.
Im 27 and ALTP is SS for me too!! Its the og OOT 😅😅😅
Almost 29 and I agree.
I’m 38 and can honestly say that ALTTP is my no1 game of all time. So ahead of its time and beyond epic!
OoT is my favorite game ever. Born in 96 but my cousin gave me a SNES and n64 when I was 4. Some of my earliest memories. Also still have Links Awakening and clear edition GB. Pearl Jam started my music journey and was my first concert/fav band. Still love Seattle scene and 90s pop culture I wasnt even alive for.
@@love2chiefs I can track the trajectory of my life back to 90s games and music. Listening to Pearl Jam's Ten and Versus playing SNES; hanging out with my first girlfriend listening to Alice in Chains and Tool. Eventually that love for music led to my own career in music. The 90s music scene literally changed my life.
I didn't see that high note on the GBA intruduction thing(whatever it was) coming. I made a facial expression I don't remember making before. Good Job!

I disagree with the placement of orcale of time and oracle of ages. They were awesome. If you combine both games you get an entire extra story to play, which is something many do not know about.
Wildwakers introduction to sea exploration and nautical themes make it an ss for me. It's so grand!!
yeah I wihed they made a realistuc seafairing Zelda... or even no realistic, cell-shaded but wayyy more epic
Your tier list is from an obvious zelda fan... and I love it! ❤️ 🗡🪃🏹🛡

I love everything about Majora's Mask, except playing it... Best story of any in the series, best atmosphere, best villain... goddamn chore to play.
And he nailed it with BotW. That game feels now how the original felt back then. As a kid, I felt the original game was this overwhelmingly huge, expansive adventure and no other game felt like that again until BotW.
I think majora’s mask is a game that heavily values replayability. You can immerse yourself a lot more once you know the game route
A LINK TO THE PAST is SSS!

Oooo another Earthbound fan im actually attempting a 2.5D links awakening style redux for my 1st large game. its my favourite game of all time
I love how you actually love link between worlds and put it on S tier since most people never talk abt this game and it's very fun. The only thing against it was it was pretty easy that i never even died lol. But i kinda feel attacked you put seasons on A and ages on B since imo, ages was far better than seasons but it's okay. It's your opinion and you said u haven't played it yet haha

You put OOT, BOTW, MM, TP, WW among the best. I'm happy about that !
I like how it took 2 and a half minutes to get to the actual subject of the video. Great job
Good list, I would now put tears of the kingdom in SS and move breath of the wild down into S. I also think that phantom hourglass is severely underrated, B tier absolute minimum, probably A tier IMO
This is a really solid list. And it confirms for me that Botw, Oot, WW are the top 3 Zelda games.
BotW isn't even in my top 5. Replace that with LttP and you'll have my exact top 3
More like MM, WW, and TP
Thank God ur list makes sense causes Bobs tier list hurt my soul. 😂🙌🙌
I have never had a closer opinion to someone else's. I was screaming yes in a borderline, unprofessional manner. Lifelong Zelda fan here. It's actually had an insane impact on who I grew up to be. Thanks for putting out great content, and I'm glad to see you're doing better mentally. 💪🏽 keep it up soldier of courage
I don’t understand why adventures of link gets so much hate. It’s challenging but fun. One of my favorites.
yeah. and now that I finally learned patience while playing games (taught to me by the souls series), it's not even that challenging. but it is fun.
there are a few too many cryptic bits and things you cannot find without button mashing (they should have had some twinkle sprite or something). but I memorized those all as a kid, so they're not a big deal for me anymore.
Spirit tracks in my opinion is DRAMATICALLY better than phantom hourglass. I actually think it’s the most underrated Zelda ever
Pretty much perfect. The only thing I would do is bump up lttp to SS but other than that, it's very spot on.
As a kid in the 80’s and into the 90’s, A Link to the Past is one of the greatest games ever for SNES. Brings back those childhood memories😁
Deserves a expansion
the adventure of Link an F! WTF!!! it was a gem of it’s time! and the soundtrack!!!💯👌🏼
I agree, its more like an eldin ring than Zelda but for him throw it in F so fast and easily is like ... really?
Wood, which hand do you swing swords with? Left or Right?
Im so shocked and surprised phantom of hourglass and spirit tracks in D Tier wtf. I didnt know i was driven by nostalgia this much. I had it as one of my best adventure growing up and i saw it as a S tier banger.
To say that The Legend of Zelda lasts 2 hours is like saying that Super Mario lasts 10 minutes, totally absurd for a first run…
I agree with pretty much everything. Only change would be to move Link to the Past to SS.
Hey Wood.
I’ve never played any Zelda games but between BOTW and TOTK I’m really interested and I’m thinking about picking up a switch to play them.
Do you have any videos explaining the story up until those games or any videos on the best way to play BOTW and TOTK for a first time player in the series?
The fact that ST is under TH and in D is just foul
As someone who’s first real Zelda game was Breath of The Wild, I feel like I’m gonna have a hard time getting used to the other games since there’s no climbing necessarily, open world and Blue Link
Do not worry friend, theres no such thing as a zelda bad game, they are all flawless, just think of the time and technology at the moment, dont compare them to botw
@@smasher2265 Majoras Mask and Ocarina are really good btw
You’re video always makes me laugh. That song with you in a green breath of the wild suits.
Spirit Tracks was actually the first Zelda game I ever played and I still love it to this day.
Mine was Links Awakening on GB.
To this day I wont even try to imagine what kind of sorcery was necessary to make this work on this little gray box 😍
Not bad. PH and ST should be higher up. And the only game that belongs in “F” is Triforce Heroes. I get Zelda II is different but it’s also the most challenging, and that is something admirable about it.
I think it's really interesting that you preferred SS on the Wii over the Switch, because I felt the opposite. The motion controls really kept me from engaging with the Wii version, but the more standard controls on Switch worked well enough that I could really enjoy the game for what it is (also they made Fi interrupt less).
And it looks SOOOO MUCH BETTER (HD on wii U)
More crowd control videos 😂 and stream highlights I love it all
Yess the dragoon roost island dance lol. Love that song
How the f can you put Spirit Tracks in D tier, its such a good game!

I enjoyed Spirit Tracks a lot more than Phantom Hourglass. The latter I lost interest in finishing it.

The original Zelda is *_NOT_* 2 hours long. 😮
It took people back-in-the-day a *YEAR* or two to beat. No guides, No cheats, no internet, no save states etc...
Maybe if you know the game *INSANELY* well.
2 hours? Are you out of your GODDAMN mind!?!
I was thinking the same thing. I spent a few days on it even with guides because of the difficulty
