    Wood is totally right, a lot of ads are fake these days, just adding celebs for marketing purposes. IMO, it kinda stains/hurts nintendo when you have to show celebs to attract audiences. • @hippieduck
      @hippieduck Před 2 lety +3

      Ads have (mostly) always been fake, ever since they became a thing. It's simply seduction and persuation (in some cases coercion) Into buying things we "didn't know we needed or wanted". Marketing 101. "These days" are not different from "the old days." Celebrities or religious figures (influential, powerful people and associations etc) have always been used as a way to lure people into buying (into) stuff and to make sacrifices (to the seller) to gain access to it. You put the soap box where there's people circulating; doesn't matter if it's on CZcams 2022, or in the street a couple of thousand years ago. Ads will always be redundant and misleading. If they don't seem to be and truly make you want a thing, I'd start questioning if that's actually a good thing. Consumerism 101.

    • @dianaburn2474
      @dianaburn2474 Před 2 lety +11

      I agree the ads are annoying, but they likely aren't targeted at people like us. They're targeting general audiences. You put streamers or youtubers in, and general audiences likely won't recognize them. However, regular celebrities are more well known, hence the decision.

They won't persuade the 14 year old bitcoin-billionaire-to-be who plays online to crush the dreams of 10 year olds? Sure. But that's not the point of these ads. Commercials are by definition manufactured to sell products so I don't see the point in complaining about something as trivial as super imposed footage. The switch is also a family console so using a celebrity playing with her kids (actually believable, don't have to be hardcore for that) makes a lot of sense. Is it weird for Nintendo to go this route? I'd probably agree, but this is no different than any other company practice. Using celebs to make the switch feel more like a “family friendly” console (which is what it is) makes sense as it’s something that many companies have been doing since the beginning of time. They want to continue to separate themselves from the FPS gamers and consoles that just rely on gameplay to make sales and don’t need a celeb for the parent to know what console is best suited to give their child (I’m talking pre-teen here).
    I also think they’re all geared towards parents to let them see a way to connect and play with their kids/family in a way that the other consoles can’t especially when kids are involved. Looking at them from this POV for who is supposed to be watching these commercials and then maybe buying Switch? It works.
    Lastly, the use of Ring Fit in those three likely sold them more Switches among women looking to stay fit with a cheaper option than Peloton during these times than anything else and why it was used so often as well…

      @alexrose1ukv2 Před 2 lety +1

      @@nicolasroy8481 Don't get me wrong, you can't tell everyhing, but you don't need to be able to understand or fully understand a language to hear things like tone, inflection or mood in a voice. For example if someone is stressed or excited, the way they speak changes; and a lot of these changes are pretty universal; so you can kinda pick out if someone is enthusiastic, sarcastic, excited etc from tone, even if you cannot understand the words.
      A lot of dubs suffer from more of a flat delivery; you've also got the fact that most Japanese voice overs are recorded with the Voice Actors in one room with the video or cues etc showing in front of them, so they genunely are responding to each other, the scene etc, and that comes across in the delivery, timing and recordings; whereas in Western dubbing, most dubs take place solo with the voice actors recording seperately, so you lose that level of direct interaction and responsiveness and reactivity between the voice actors.
      It can be quite noticeable at times.
      There ARE some excellent dubs, but in this regards, Japan generally just does it better due to the way they tend to record, and it results in more natural and fluid sounding voice acting and dialogue/word play.
