- This is the Porsche 997.2 GT3 RS and we're back for Season Two of Modern Classics with one of the best drivers Porsches ever made! With 444bhp from the last of the Porsche Mezger engines and weighing around1370kg the Porsche GT3 RS is highly engaging and rewarding sports car. Back in 2010 it achieved a Nurburgring lap time of 7:33 thanks to improved downforce, lighter materials and carbon ceramic brakes.

The 997 generation GT3 will probably be one of the most sought after in a few years time. Relatively light and compact when compared to more modern cars, the character, handling and Mezger engine are timeless. Add Manthey suspension and an engine upgrade for one of the best cars ever.
B J Shirley you will be able to buy one of these for 10k in a few months time
@@jon4539 I just seen one recently for about 400 grand u were wrong on that one mate
Abdullah Suheyl just another day on the trawler and another one in the nets
This car will never get old
The 997 GT cars are truly the driver oriented machines
I must hand it to you. The way you describe the intricate details of the car.....it almost like I’m in the driving seat. Well done Sir
What more do you need? Honestly it's the perfect drivers car
I think you have impeccable taste James but I don't understand the koenigsegg purchase. To me they are like a Hubolt mp, incredible pieces of engineering but would you use it? With type of wedge your going to drop on it you could build your modern classic collection. This is the sweet spot. The world is going to change now and these ultra hyper cars seem ridiculous, undriveably fast and ludicrously expensive. You could invest in a modern classic's garage and have a collection you could enjoy and share with future petrol heads...you could build something special at that facility with the right collection....cars that can be used and shared...I firmly believe we've tipped and 1000bhp+ cars are a nonsense..
@@dagnut he can always sell it after a year for a profit.
@@dyslexiusmaximus not anymore mate..prices are plummeting and wont recovers on new hypercars
@@dagnut How is the world going to change so that a hybrid hypercar is going to be less enjoyable and less usable than a conventional ICE car? The war that is currently going on against the car is about co2, not speed, so a hybrid is definitely more future proof than a ICE car unless you're just going to park it in a garage and look at it.
That hypercars will drop in value and not go back up is also nothing more than a guess, it's literally impossible to know.
@@Speednote10 did you not know we are facing the biggest global depression for 100 years? Are you asleep?
I see 997 GT3 RS I click like
One of my favorite Porsche's ever!!!
Mine too!
Mine too!
It has more character than the 991 , will end up like the sort after 993 models , True classics.
@@AhuCJ You've got very good taste bro!!!
@@Human2Ai2030 Totally agree with you my friend!!! Of course 991 is very nice too!
These track videos keep me heavily interested. And we're back to MODERN CLASSICS!!!!!😄🔥
Also I have to say your being such a petrol head is what automotive CZcams needs. You bring back the fire in our hearts for cars. 👏
Thanks dude! Lots more to come 🥳
Good to see a familiar face during the Apocalypse . Thanks dude! This made me feel much better x x
Who needs a radio when you've gotten a soundtrack like that to listen to coming from behind you.
Gosh, I love Porsches...
I’m fortunate to have recently purchased a 997.2 RS, after watching this video I’m really itching to drive it! It will be shipped this weekend... nothing like a kid waiting to open his presents before Christmas, a rare feeling as you get older! Life is good.
It's not the fastest, but the most fun, just a masterpiece, a dream of every driver
Love the 997 Gen cars last of the great analogue cars ...
Hey James just to let you know. The “airy” feeling of the engine you described and lower torque is due to a lighter flywheel. This is gives that awesome quick, blip response that you feel when heel-toeing. Probably best described as a comparison between a v10 F1 car vs a road car. Those F1’ would have a flywheel roughly the size of your fist and abroad car one the size of a dinner plate and a lot heavier so it carries more momentum which translates to torque. Great video. Love your work. 👍🏻👍🏻
We love you James this is an absolute classic
Always have and always will love heebee. What a legend!
Nothing beats an analog manual elite sportscar like this one. 997's are truly STUNNING cars!
I don’t understand why Mr JWW only gets a tiny viewing rate compared to some of the car drivel that is on CZcams? Sir, your content is TV quality and your insight into the subject matter is second to none. I’m hoping people start discovering this channel so you get the recognition you rightly deserve.
Its hard to brcome well known. Takes time. This channel has unlimited potential
Thank you, sir. Anything that keeps our minds on what we aspire to rather than what we fear is a service, especially in times of uncertainty. Cheers from San Francisco, CA.
Love this series , thanks Mr JWW , cheered my week up , keep,it going 😎👍🏻
The most elegant GT3 rs! Instant Classic.
One of the best reviews I've seen. Passion and feeling. Spot on! Well done.
Just what we needed
Had the opportunity to drive one of these and it will stick with me forever the feel, feedback, etc etc. Just amazing
love the Modern Classics keep it up
I can't get over it..it's just beautiful,
And the Metzger..sounds just as good or better then even a Ferrari aV12
Been impatiently waiting for one of yous to upload something,as being on full lockdown in mauritius after 12 cases including one death have been found and no work for 2 weeks (happy days as hate my job and the bosses), i haven't had any interesting tv series or films to watch all day! So many thanks for this upload James, really appreciate it! :)
Another SUPERIOR Review James. And yet THIS one hits home for me. So yes I agree, the RS for the top track 997GT3 weapon, but for the street I get pretty darn close with my non-RS 997.2 GT3, and don’t have to worry with the dual mass FW, and no Harmonic Balancer or Cam Actuator Bolt issues. Absolutely love this car. Very well done review!!2
Nice! I love the 997.2 RS so much and I wish there was more quality content on YT with it. Back when it was launched YT wasn't how it is now. These are going to be worth BIG money sooner than later.
My favourite content. Modern classic series is just fantastic. Great sounding cars that aren't restricted by particulate filters & other gubbins.
Love this Series!
JWW PLS KEEP DOING WAT YOU DO
YOU ARE ONE OF FEW THAT STILL REPRESENT THE MANUAL AND INDEED THE AMAZING 997. THANK YOU!
Besides the 993 turbo shape with it's wide hips, for me the 997.2 GT3/RS is still one of the best looking 911s ever made..
Thanks James, a great video, and one of the very all-time best from Porsche.
I have kind of a soft spor for the Gen 1 997 GT3, especially the non-RS version, but Gen 2 is better, there is no doubt.
Long live the Modern Classic series! Waiting for more!
i have been a Ferrari Fan my whole life ....but this car and its predecessors of naturally aspirated 500HP manual machines of Pure Wonder have convinced me to believe @Porsche is the Best Manufacture of Pure Racing Machines ...i have fallin in love with these cars n the House of Porsche .... fabulously content James as always ...Cheers Bello Cheers
Absolut dream car! If I was able to afford one of them, I would seriously be considering this over a newer one.
Excellent video Mister. I love that car, love it's sound, the fact it's analogue(mostly), naturally aspirated, and also mostly civilised.
You drove it well.
Great to see the Modern Classics series back and what a brilliant car to start with.
Hands down one of the best reviews I have ever seen. Outstanding!
The video was my medicine tonight. Thanks you
A fantastic review of an incredible classic. Can’t wait to see what you have lined up in the future for this series
Perfect drivers car and the perfect presentation of the car. James you are so good at this and just getting better and better. Loving all this. Hat off to you sir
Love that Gen. Love this series 🤟😊
Outstanding content! This is it, this is the realized vision of creating videos when cars are able to be driven beyond the limits of the public roads.
What a great way to start a Saturday morning! One of my favourite cars of all time, pretty much perfect!
Great video so well shot and commented for a one of the last true analogic street/ Motorsport cars!
Thanks Man....always a great detailed review indeed...congrats!
Stunning... Thanks for keeping us entertained through the current nightmare. 👍👍👍👍👍
So happy this series is back, incredible content! I feel like im right there with you
With the new found tingley skill, feel much more enjoyment of the cars? With the much fun with your own bunker track, and gives us more insight how your enjoying the cars handling style, another sparkleing content, cheers james 👍🏻
Great review. I couldn’t agree more. The 997.2 RS is the high water mark for the GT/RS series. Last of the true analog driver’s car with soul and pure interface with its driver requiring driver and car to work together and becoming an extension of the driver.
Last of the Mezger engines GT cars. Single mass fly wheel. 6spd. 1400 produced world wide. Values climbing.
Sold my 2019 RS and bought a 997.2 RS and haven’t looked back.
I read about approx 1600 built, but would also like to have the correct number.
Best porsche of the last 10 years
In my oppinion it is the best ever produced 911!
Love this Car!
Love this Series!
Love your Videos!
Thank u!
Thanks!
One of my favorites!
I appreciate you James!!
I appreciate you watching! Thanks 👍🏻
my favorite series, great work lad
Amazing video, absolutely love the depth and perspectives, truly impeccable.
Thanks ! One of m'y favorite porsche 😁😁
I don’t usually comment on youtube videos, but I had to comment. I have been following you since the first speciale videos around 4 years ago. Congrats! You sir have the best content and the best automotive channel of youtube, it´s impressive how every time you outperform yourself. You are someone who I look up to. Greetings from Lisbon, Portugal.
You are on the right path despite in my opinion being undervalued!
This will forever be my favourite 911. Looks stunning, sounds stunning and this model means a lot to me as well!
So organic - such accurate description of th 997 gt3rs
My God, the rawness… I love it!
Wish I had a private racetrack while in quarantine 😂
Great review, a lot of love and passion for this unicorn! Let me add one thing you forgot to tell, one specific RS item that died in their successors and which also creates that special sound: the single-mass flywheel! ❤️
Fabulous car and review. A very calm and classy paint scheme, as well.
The 997 period will be a classic 911 shape and the GT3 is one of the flagship models, I love it !
thanks for the video, great content and i forgot about the depressing state of the country for 20mins. it was needed.
The 'James Without Words' we knew before is gone 😂. You described the emotion and passion of that Porsche brilliantly.
One of my favorite Porsche’s ever! I love the white with red and a co worker had. 996 gt3 in white and then traded it for the 992.3 GT3RS white/red
Thank you James for a superb video and review! 444 BHP was a very conservative figure, when dynoed
these cars put out at least 460 BHP. Classic series is great.
This is the best car to start the new series. Thanks for sharing. This is the 911 for me for sure. Can’t wait to see what else you’ve got lined up.
What a car! What an episode! Thanks James!🔥
Great series and what a car to make a come back with😍
Loving the Porsche content. Nothing beats a modern classic Porsche. Well done!
One of the greatest modern day Porsche’s 👊🏻
Great video James, As usual!
Great car great series
One of my top GT3 911 of all time, would love the 4.0 version in white. got to see one at FOS last year, amazing car, just so analog.
2023, and this is still one of the best reviews of the peak 911.
The last classic RS! As you have pointed out: nor RWS, no PDK option, Mezger engine and hydraulic steering assist!
Legend! The car and Mr. JWW
Ultimate dream car!
What an amazing car! Lovely, thanks!
best series ever
Class video for a class car. Well done mr. JWW. I remember this car.
Absolute class car and really well presented 👌🏻
loving the 4k!
Brilliant video and a breath of fresh air at the moment👍 Only thing missing for me was a cold start of the car, makes me want to go for a drive.
Nothing better than a Porsche
17:45 Not sure who's the machine : the car our you with your lightning fast heel&toe !
That racetrack is definitely an awesome addition to the channel.
Thanks buddy!
The opening shot was epic, I love it when someone (you?) power slides a car and does it beautifully. I like this dark gray color too. The rear wing is dope! I like the 911 turbo s if I was to get a Porsche.
Holy shit, the first 40 seconds of the video are flipping awesome Great Job!
MATE! I have been watching ur videos a while now, and just realised how much of a boss you are behind the wheel after that gt3 track day video at Silverstone 👌
Thanks for watching!
Mr JWW thank you for a cool episode and also thank Porsche UK.
My dream is to drive a GT3 or GT3 RS
Thanks for watching, lots more to come 🥳👍🏻
My favourite colour...and well filmed. Keep up the good work.
Awesome video! On lockdown with the legendary 997.2 GT3 RS? It could be worse!
Really loving the JWW HQ.
Every enthusiast knows that car!...don't they?!
Cracking video, as have the last couple that have gone before.
Cheers.
Went ahead and bought your own track, that's next level my man! And you drive one of the coolest GT3's
Fantastic review. Tku. I'm about 72 hours away from picking up this exact Porsche and I'm super excited. This will be my 10th, and I suspect last, Porsche.
