We just had a round of covid going around our office. We're in Las Vegas and believe it or not three of the seven people who were positive had pink eye. Two of them had pink eye in both eyes. Until I watched your video I have not seen anything on the news, but I think it's fascinating. I will also tell you that everybody that had this round of covid, all started with symptoms more closely related to laryngitis. They all lost their voice to a certain extent first before any other symptoms. They also didn't experience some of the typical symptoms like headaches and extreme congestion. The youngest of our team to get it is only 20 years old and she was literally over it in 2 days. She tested positive on Sunday from home and was testing negative on Wednesday morning and returned to work yesterday.
BTW, I don't know if you remember me from some previous conversations but I've had covid a total of five times and thank goodness I didn't catch it this round. I'm thanking my lucky stars for that. But I thought you might find that interesting because I didn't know about the conjunctivitis until I saw your video tonight.

I had very mild covid 1x. Hardly any cough or congestion. On a chest x-ray I have new fibrosis (scarring) of the lungs. I found it odd being that I didn't have pneumonia

It seems to me the cases reported are now grossly undercounted. In my area in Pennsylvania, I personally know more people who tested positive on home tests than reported for the whole county. Home test positive results are not being included fun counts.
That's why I rely on wastewater viral load figures, which are NOT affected by reductions in official testing.

I am from New Delhi , India & have just recovered from this variant. The recovery is quicker as compared to the last variant.
Symptoms are
Itch in the throat
Severe body ache
Chronic fatigue
Flem
There has been extremely low hospitalisation. Even people with co-morbities are recovering well.
I had no fever . It was my re like a cold. Not much of a cough. I had no pink eye and issue. The numbers are definitely 10 fold more here. Since home Kits are available. Plus most of the population is passing it as a flu.

May i add that there are another set of people who are experiencing high fever goes upto 101+ in the 2-3rd day. And then breaks . Management is with paracetamol. The most prominent symptom is chronic fatigue & severe body ache. Those people who develop fever do experience a drop in SPO2 level down to 94 . Which can be managed with proning . The feeling of a cold coming on is best treated with anti histamines. Which of course helped in bringing down inflammation in the body. I reiterate the numbers are many fold more. And just being passed as another flu. People are masking up. And we will see the same trend of a spike and then it will start coming down In another 2 weeks as mentioned by Dr Randeep Guleria who headed the largest medical institution in India - AIIMS( all India institute of medical sciences) . The best doctors of the country who make it to this institution. In a population of 1.4 billion the handful of 500 doctors per year. They see an average of 75-100 patients/ DAY ! They are most experienced & revered in the country. Happy to provide any further information from here.
Will be interesting to see what data for adults ends up being, and how that compares to the stomach flu (rumored to be going around recently). Hopefully those things will be looked at so we can find out more. Thanks again for all you do!!

My ? Too. One test for all variants. Why bother testing if your fine.
In many countries 100% of diagnosed cases are tested for the variant. In the US it is statistical but I have no idea what the process is.
Do you know if the CoVid home tests are still good for these new variants? I have seen some relatives, adults, with sniffles and conjunctivitis. They have home tested negative. But I have not seen many adults with conjunctivitis?
Less than half of my family and friends were able to get positives on rapids..are you doing all three in this order inside cheek, back of throat and both nostrils? I only tested positive where sample swab remains in testing medium such as binaxNOW and that too shows up faintly and after 1 hour when I likely had XBB.1.15 variant, aka Kraken in February. Subsequently have continued a lot of my usual course of lingering long Covid symptoms since as well unfortunately. Though thankfully a bit less intense than my March 2020 infection that lasted nearly two years lingering. The NE intense allergy season certainly isn't helping things with that either for my poor overactive innate immune system..
Also this last "mild" infection caused reactivation of EBV in me as well..
Some of these home tests are NOT testing positive for Covid. They’re not being able to pick up the newer markers for these newer variant. I know as I had a 2nd bout last Dec/22 and did not test positive with both home test and PCR. But I had the typical, for me, Omicron symptoms and it hit my throat like a MOFO with full on laryngitis which is very typical with Omicron. AND it again left me with inflammation to my vocal cords and my voice is worse than ever: hoarse, auto-tunsy, gravelly, etc. All from 2 bouts of Covid. Both times my Family Doc told me NOT TO TALK as much as possible to save my vocal cords. So yes, you can test negative. Believe it if you do get a positive test but go by symptomology if you test negative. And in this case with the pink eye assume Covid. And Arcturus seems to hit the throat just like the previous Omicrons, if not worse.

Is there any indication of the vaccination status of those contracting these new variants?
My whole family of 7 all pureblood have yet to have covid. Worked all through the shut down. No masks . Wonder why some vaxxed get covid multiple times.
Both vaccinated and unvaccinated folks have gotten it. Vaccination continues to seem to decrease the risk of contracting severe disease for the variants studied

@@kl4888 If there is any data on that I haven't found it. It seems to be a "nobody cares" thing now. As WBD says, the reduction in severity with vaccination seems to be holding, at least among vulnerable groups. I dithered about the bivalent booster, but then I remembered I'm 70 years old so I went with it. I don't judge anybody about their choice at this stage of the pandemic; if I were 40 again and had no vulnerable people at home I probably would have passed on this one.
Is there any new studies out there about the latest Omicron variants and comorbidities, like diabetes and obesity as it relates to hospitalization and death? With the recent booster recommendations, these groups seem to have been removed.
It’s been a bit more sparse on this front as of late given infection numbers are down and hospitalization rates are down, but we will see if we can dig up some data to share!
Do you think gum of tooth pain can be a symptom of it too???
We haven’t seen anything on this symptom being associated with Arcturus!
The day before I started experiencing flu-like symptoms that turned out to be COVID-19, I had severe burning in one eye along with mild redness. It only lasted a few hours and I figured I had just irritated the eye doing yardwork. The irritation felt similar to getting hot pepper on the eye except, in this case, the burning was mostly on the eyeball itself. I experienced loss of smell 4 days later.

I have the same!!!! The burning in one eye woke me in the middle of the night. Then felt like sand in my eye and then watering....Then all the other symptoms but testing negative on at home tests. I know I have it.
I have been getting tested since covid19 started, always negative until I started a corrections officer Academy in November 2022 I stopped wearing double facemask , and tested positive. I unvaccinated as I have traumatic brain injury, and no one did anything for me. Since December 2022 until June 2023 I have tested negative and I think fully vaccinated are positive for covid19 there just not getting tested
I wonder how much of this is a reflection of testing policies.

@@flagmichael imo every "covid" channel worth its salt is responsible for up to date effective covid prevention ie N95 truth and oral/nasal spray and oral/nasal/eyewash hygiene recommendations for the high risk. at a minimum. most all have failed even - worse is the suppression of actual working measures by the tube and channel owners. hence most all that looked for help got little to none

@@tangobayus Samples have been collected in India, the UK and the US, and the results put into NextStrain and Covariants. This subtype appears to be in the same lineage as XBB, with the usual collection of assorted point mutations; most of which have been seen before, with the odd new one.

LOL the definition of a variant is "a code made from a random piece of protein saved to hard drive". Prior to this the discovery of atypical pneumonia in India and in fact every where occurs all the time. With a country of nearly a billion people the seemingly high number is in reality a drop in the ocean. This is now an industry that makes a lot of money for a small number of people.
No disagreement with the first part, but I don't know of anybody making money on this now. Check out the stock charts for Moderna and Pfizer: Moderna grew from a small biotech company to a large one. Pfizer lost value against the DJIA. Since the first year all the vaccine companies are doing poorly against the DJIA. COVID vaccines are an anchor around their necks. BTW, in each of those cases, the companies are publicly traded. You and I can buy their stock if we truly believe they are making money. If we don't live it we don't believe it. No small number of people are getting rich on this.
