When Adam called himself a “music communicator,” I felt that.
I remember 2-3 years ago I was forced to play boring piano stuff and I ended up hating it for a while.
About a year ago, I got into jazz and got into piano again. I started to look on youtube for piano tutorials and synthesia videos for how to play songs. Once I realized that I needed to learn actual sheet music, I got a real book for my birthday and let myself go free.
It was awesome getting to play songs I liked through the real book, but I eventually started to get bored of my style of playing that only consisted of playing chords in 1st inversion all day, but that’s how we all start isn’t it?
I came across Adam’s channel 9 months ago, and that’s when my improvement really started going. His videos sparked my interest in music theory and all the different aspects of music. I’m more serious about learning music now and i’m having even more fun with it than I did before. Thank you for getting me and a million others into music, you’re videos are awesome!
Also, I now have the lick stuck in my head 24/7 at 7/11, which officially makes you a jazz meme communicator as well. Thanks for that.

Having been raised by two sets of parents that were all 4 in either classical or jazz music professionally and after having played several instruments both classical as well as in several bands including electric and upright bass, I would attest that it is not only that you are spot on with your level of teaching and with your intelligent analysis of musical phenomena - but it is also that you are so incredibly enthusiastic about passing it on! Great, great job, you deserve every bit of your success, and it was moving to see you so moved by it at the end of this video.

I think "Music Communicator" is an apt title. Like, I got into this whole mess from Tom Scott having 12tone guest on his channel, then there was something that got linked between you two, and now I'm here as a (generally) non musician. I find this all fascinating and love watching the videos because they talk about ideas and concepts that I haven't really seen or messed with, probably heard, but never really understood. (I still don't but I'm getting there)
I love watching your stuff, and it's breaking me out of my comfort zone in all the best ways.
I sort of want to do a channel idea like this for technical theatre, there's a lot of stuff that gets glossed over or half mentioned and it's super fascinating stuff too. I haven't seen anything like that (maybe bits and pieces, like the Hamilton videos Adam Savage did) but nothing quite like the same... Ideas and planning and what it's like to gig thing like this.

I dreaded the simplest pieces of theory in music class in high school, but it's like everything else that you can learn. Once you start to understand it and find your way in, the want and even the need to expand on it and go further reveals itself and it becomes a lot of fun. You could've chased teenage me with notes and chords, yet here I am a decade later starting to get into modes.
This channel is partly the reason why I picked up an instrument at age 27 and it's the first thing in my life that I haven't given up on, just because it was hard sometimes.

Thank YOU Adam! While I certainly hadn’t given up on music and still did musical things (choir/vocal group and arranging) your channel certainly has been a big influence to me taking up guitar again, diving deeper into music theory and thinking about music and also arranging more seriously these last 2-3 years.
These last two years I’ve done several things I’ve either haven’t done in a long time or at all before, like playing in a comedic musical theatre band, arranging many songs for a larger type band, including different kinds of woodwinds and brass as well as regular rhythm section, thinking about starting to write my own music and how I want that to sound as well as finally finishing my “choir battle backstreet boys vs spice girls” choir arrangement idea that had been almost ten years in the making! (As well as actually performing it with my old choir at our anniversary concert.)
I hadn’t really realised it before but your and several other CZcams music channels, like Rick Beato, Nahre Sol, Jeff Schneider, Ben Levin, 12-tone, Apartment sessions (which I found through your channel) and several others certainly was part of the musical inspiration for me doing these new things and I’m very thankful for all your great content. As John Hancock says: “Good job”!👍

You thank us for watching. Well, now I must flip that and thank you for the inspiration for which you've been aiming. I walked away from music back in 2006 after a disastrous band experience (akin to a marriage breakup emotionally). Subtly, CZcams began filling my sidebar with music-related channels over the last couple of years. And now in 2020, thanks to the likes of you, Rick Beato, Rhett Shull and Nahre Sol, I'm in the woodshed studying theory and practicing guitar and bass again. I've rediscovered the joy of playing and no small part of that was courtesy of your enthusiasm for deconstructing what makes certain aspects of music cool. Thanks for the inspiration, Adam.
