      Stephanie Hallberg android had “Tasker”...light years ahead of Apples shortcuts. Shortcuts is nice and a step in the right direction but we apple users need an equal to Tasker. Tasker activates with out interaction when some set of conditions are met and then it performs the programmed set of tasks...it’s a great software

    Hi Brandon, great tutorial. I looked for a good 5 minutes on my iPhone to for the shortcuts app. Never found it. Had to watch another channel, and see that it's a separate app you must download.... so anyone also scratching your head - this app is NOT installed by default on your iPhone or iPad ( not sure why not ) anyway, yup, look for "shortcuts" on the app store, and make sure it's by developer Apple to make sure it's the real one. Thanks for the video Brandon ! - Mark over at the BakeLikeAPro recipe channel. Off to watch part of this video again... some great info in it ! ( p.s. - last night I was fooling with the iPhone settings under Siri settings, and was thinking this is really not straight forward at all ... you can add a shortcut, but it's very confusing... thank goodness for your video ! )

      BakeLikeAPro Just so everyone knows shortcuts is not a new app. It’s been on the App Store for years. Let me explain Apple bought a company that owned a app under the name workflow. This was about a year ago. They just decided to rebrand it. I’m just saying because I’m tired of people treating like an amazing app. Apple changed nothing from the original

    Here’s a question for you:
    What if I would like to restart the dates of the action. Let me put an example.
    I get paid every 15 days, and from today there are still 12 days to get paid. So once I got to the payday, I don’t want to go back to the shortcut and put a different date every 15 days, how could I loop this payment date so every 15 days it renews by itself without me having to go and add July 15, then July 30, then August 15, etc.?
    That would be really helpful and it would save so much time!

    • @surfnyolly

      Abraham Diaz you can do this on your calendar. Create an event, call it Pay Day, then go down to Repeat>Custom and set to Every, and set it to 15 days. Then set a calendar reminder and you’ll get a notification every 15 days.

    • @artfartzy
      @artfartzy Před 5 lety +2

      Yes most of these you can already ask siri to do, the shortcuts just let you use different names etc. to make it look cool but thats it. Directions to home I can already do this just by saying take me home, since I have my address written under my name under contacts, and siri knows that is me the owner of the phone, so she opens maps and gets directions to home when I say "take me home"

    Hey, Brandon thanks for the tutorial video. On 'Calculate Tip' shortcut under 'Get Variable' how do you choose the 'BillAmount' option? I don't see it populated as an option. Following that with 'Calculate' how do you get the 'PercentageTipping' under 'Operand?'

      I don’t know how but this is what I did to mine:
      Get Variable: (ask for input)
      Calculate: * (menu result)
      Format number
      Calculate + (ask for input result)
      Format number
      Return/show alert

    • @lllkoioslll6200
      @lllkoioslll6200 Před 5 lety

      Use “set variable” and put it right under the first one that asks the bill amount. Give it the name of “billamount” or whatever you want to name it. Do the same for percent tipping.

    Brandon, I appreciated the “Days until Christmas” shortcut, but as I watched, I thought it might be overly complicated. Again, it’s a good demonstration of different functions, but I tried a simpler version that also worked.
    Date (December 25)
    Format date
    Get time between dates (right now)
    Show Alert
    This seems to work the same as your demo. Nonetheless, I did subscribe since you made me think. This App is going to be simply wonderful.

    This is a bit complicated, but one of the best tutorials I have seen so far. I am trying to build a "Shortcuts App" that will ask for basic patient info input and build into some determinant actions based on that input. You go kind of fast (good thing we can keep scrubbing back), but this is so much better than other resources (Apple should link to it- their guide is really poor). Thanks for posting this!

    I have an (hopefully) interesting question:
    I added a shortcut to play one of my playlists. That works alright. But I still have to then go to my phone to chafe the sound output to the amp. Is there any change I can add this?
    Maybe like, play “xx” playlist and change output to speaker “xx”, if not available, use phone speaker.
