I was a young teen at the time and never understood why everyone was obsessed with her, I felt like I was missing something crucial, some sort of context, to understanding why she blew up. I had a friend who was called Anthony but went by Ant, so I guess in that regard I could understand why it became a sort of meme in that friend group. But in general, it was baffling to me lol

I know this is a year out of date, but I wanted to point out something you didn't mention. For a couple years she worked for Discovery Animalist channel as a host and cohosted a couple videos on Discovery Seeker. She was able to still carry over a little of her quirkiness but with a more scripted and structured setting. I think this was when she was at her best. Unfortunately the Animalist channel stopped posting around 6 years ago.

I feel so nostalgic hearing about this girl again, back when i was 17 in high school around the time boxxy was still popping almost everyone in my class would talk about her, they would say all sorts of things about her from how pretty she was to how weird and strange she was, at the time i was just so curious about her so i watched her videos and knew instantly that something was so strange about her, but it still went unsolved so i kind of left the case of her, and now just hearing about the true story jist breaks my heart, i feel bad for the poor girl she deserved so much better

Today, December the 10th of 2021, is one of those days and I stumbled across this video, so thank you for uploading it; it's cool seeing that many people still remember her character and that age of the Internet in general.
I am not talking about the whole NFT thing as that is not the main issue here, although I am not a fan of them. However, I hope she's not doing it because she needs quick money, lost her job or anything similar. She's a talented person who is great at both voice acting and show hosting, so I hope she is still working on that field.
Very mysterious indeed! Of course I remember that face, it really was everywhere, not just 4chan. Can't say I tuned into the videos, but seeing excerpts of them now, I can see how people could get obsessed. Why that would lead to anger though is really quite bizarre to me.
She was pretty cool and handled it surprisingly well for how old she was at the time. Really shitty what people did to her for no reason at all. The world seems to shit on the nice people unfortunately

I miss her. I was so curious about Boxxy in the early 2010s and then I'd watch her videos as herself (Catie) every day after college classes in 2013. She was so entertaining as just herself.
I hope she was able to experience that some people liked her videos. Negative responses can wipe out positive ones in your mind.

I personally found Boxxy through a remix of her videos called "Boxxy love and trolls" it made me laugh, and still does when I go back and watch it.
I remember watching her videos and thinking how cool she was and how I would like to meet her someday, then one day she disappeared, and tribute videos started popping up on CZcams, I genuinely thought she had died for a while. Then she eventually uploaded again, but I still didn't really know what had happened to her or why she had disappeared.
I hate that people thought that finding some random girl was a reason to stalk, harass and dox her. I hope that she continues to do well in the future, and that people leave her be.
I'm a big geek and I find this topic absolutely fascinating. It's very interesting on the difference of Katie's Personality and Boxxy's. I wonder what made her decide to give Boxxy the personality she did. For some reason that Personality screams "give me attention!" but I know people who act like that irl and some of it has to do with mental illness or poor home life, i'm not say she had either of this but there are some comparisons. It's also really cool to see how the old internet reacted to this and I wounder what it would be like if this happened in the modern internet. Looking at the hacker's list they really had everything planed out, they even had a scapegoat planed out! WHO THINKS OF THAT!! It's also fascinating that they were so advanced for the time they were in. It had to be very scarry for Katie to find out people had got into everything just like that. It is weird to see how this blue up into a full internet war. It's also pretty disturbing how many people, and especially adults, said they wanted to married her and even would drop other romantic partners to do so WHEN SHE WAS A TEENAGER!! I wounder what ever happened to the two friends she made the videos for. I wounder if they felt uncomfortable after the whole incident. I wounder if they kept in contact during the incident. It's kind of weird to think she made videos, with her face in it, just for these two guys. Something about that feels a little off-putting. It makes me wounder if there were any romantic feeling involved, either form Katie to them or them to Katie. It's also interesting to see that she was still talking in the Boxxy way in the chats between them.
Anyways that's my stupide fascination thoughts about this. Thanks for anyone who read all the way through, you must also be a geek who finds this stuff fascinating. We would get along well.

2008 youtube was something else man...
She used to be on a wildlife related channel for little bit after she stopped uploading to ANewHopeeee. She was a host for what were these weird "Top 10" type videos if I remember right. I know it was her because her cohosts would make a small reference to Boxxy a time or two. I think this was right around the time she was on an episode of CZcamsrs React.
Edit: The channel was called Animalist. I'm fairly certain she was on there for a little bit after what many called her disappearance. But it seems like a lot of the uploads were unlisted or removed. There's still a two minute video about her hair, but it's pretty old.

It's incredibly sad what a devastating effect the actions of hateful individuals had on a young girl. I'm glad that she saw the positives in the experience, and I hope that those positives are tangible. She was literally stalked for simply existing, and that's TOTALLY unacceptable. We should outing and hunting down those who do this to others.

I haven't seen the comment yet so I'll say it now; the thing I appreciate the most about this video in particular is that the background music towards the middle of the video is the title screen song from the og mw2 which released in 2009, the same year the boxxy controversy really took place.
I loved Boxxy. She never failed to put a smile on my face. Her intent was to entertain people, I think and she did that in spades. She didn't deserve all that, not for one minute. She's a bright girl who simply wanted to cheer everyone up.
