I still await the development of sextuple camber, so I can have the superior control of six independent camber zones to engage and disengage independently. Like each pair of legs in the undulating motion of the crawling caterpillar. It could be called "caterpillar camber." Wait, no... "camberpillar."
Synathidy a lot of thinkin' went into that answer!
Like a Gillette razor! 😂
Thank you guys for explaining them all. Theres soo many diff kinds it gets almost overwhelming.
9 seconds into your video and I'm laughing my ass off. great vid guys
I have ridden an oversized rocker board for 8 years, following my skiers friends in the slopes, in the trees, in the pow. I actually learnt to carve that board well on less steep slopes. I was completely unaware about all other snowboard profiles. Imagine me trying out a flying v aka gullwing profile board one day: I was blown away. I felt it gripping the ground on its own and holding me with no effort on my part. At first, I feared I couldn't get out of the carving motion, once initiated. I laid down a deep carve in front of my friends and came to a stop effortlessly and then nose roll iirc. so much swag
I’ve been riding a pretty flat rocker( burton ripcord) but it has no pop. Was thinking of switching to camber. Will I suddenly start catching edges on basic stuff like everyone claims, or is that just an issue for beginners? I’d like a responsive board with pop and some actual edge bite.
If you suck you'll probably catch an edge and die, if you're a competent snowboarder you'll probably be fine.
I've always wanted to know how much these different camber profiles deform to similar when loaded in a turn? I'm on the camber end of life so I like camber, camrock, and the directional pow cam rock. But I demo'd a 'moustache' camber - a GNU riders choice a few years ago and was amazed how well it carved, wasn't expecting that. For me, rocker is too loose and flat is just, meh, dead.
That's more the flex pattern and sidecut on the R.C. than anything else.
Hey, thanks for all the time spent on the videos. Much appreciated. I have a board question that I don't really trust my big city shop with and was hoping you might be able to answer... I have a '12 Arbor Element RX 157 and bought it for float, edge tech, and 157 sizing for turnability which translated to your exact breakdown of the Element Rocker of it being a pow/trees, groomer carving, park-ish board. The problem I'm having after checking a 2020 Arbor Rocker board is that my '12 Element is flat between the feet and reverse outside which I enjoy because it makes it a bit more stable at speed and less "loose." Also, with this type of profile it makes it feel as short to turn as a 155 but floats like a 159+. I can't tell if I've just ridden my Element to be flat but I'm fairly certain it has always been flat between the feet and reverse outside the bindings. I've gone so far as to look at 2012 vs 2013 videos and it does appear it started to change between those years.
All that being said, I would like to find something that will match the float I'll get in my Element RX but in a wide as I've finally given up on regularly sized boards with size 10.5 feet. The reasoning behind this is I tend to get a lot of toe/heel bite on my current Element but I'm not sure how much that is down to my bindings which probably also need an upgrade. In the quiver I have a Burton Easy Livin 155mw Camber and a Jones Aviator 158w. Is there something out there that can slot into the 156 or 157 wide with edge tech and a flat/cam profile? Does the current line of Arbor Rocker flatten out when riding to be like my current Element RX? So far, I'm eyeballing the Arbor Shiloh, Wasteland, Element (is the Shiloh the old Element and new Element is the previous Element Black?), and less so Coda with all in rocker, as well as the Marhar Lumberjack for that flat/rocker but am concerned the Lumberjack might overlap with the Aviator if I go 158 and lack of float in a 155. I would prefer a 30-40% flat/60-70% rocker shape which was the sole reason as to why I was looking at the Lumberjack. I'm 165-170, 5'11" and trying to stay 25.8 (at least) waist width for my feet. Sorry for the wall of text and hope I explained my reasoning behind it well enough. I'm riding in the PNW btw.
You're talking about a board that's 8 years old. 8 fucking years is a long ass time and Arbors were made in a different factory back then.
The Shiloh is just the Whiskey which isn't anything special. Why the fuck you want a 58 Lumberjack that thing is designed for people 250 plus with a size 14 boot. Get the 152 if you look at that board. Or get another Element wide.
Riding an old Yaqui that says “original park camber” I think it’s camber under foot, flatish in between, rocker at the tips.
I guess I am old school. I gravitate towards camber, but I have enjoyed a couple of cam rock boards recently.
Kind of miss the double dog profile ... I know you never were forum fans but really like this hybrid on the destroyer and the youngblood. What hybrid profile would compare the most to it. Keep it up with the great content ! Thanks !
Woah woah woah, never hated Forum they had some really fun stuff and then they had the Holy Moly which was questionable at best.
C2X from Mervin is good and better than regular C2, C2 E from them isn't bad either. Rome has a decent one but limits the models it's on.
great vid some good info in there 🙌🏼🏂
What do you think about the difference between c2x vs c2 vs c2e?
I rode c2 and c2e. The regular c2 feels amazing smooth and more controlled(cold brew). The c2e felt more spinny(gnu money). Haven’t tried c2x but I’m curious.
Just buy something with full camber.
What would you consider a c3 camber like with the ejack..... they claim to have rocker under foot but that sucker just looks like a big massive camber.
That thing is camber 2.0. You look at it and it's just a chopped mid section so it's more flat than anything instead of the traditional arc of camber.
2000 Burton Fluid 159 in deep powder. Full camber. Get in the back seat and surf. So much is up to the rider.
It's not about the board, it's about what's on top of it. I saw people riding malavitas struggling to get of the lift
What do you think of wired snowboards, whats the back with them. some of there graffix are looking sick..

:p Ide imagine you’de get this a lot, but was wondering if you guys got around to trying the stepchild ownership, the J.P. Morgan one. I’ve ridden alot of boards till failure and this has been my favourite so far. It seems to have flown well under the radar here in aus and I haven’t met anyone els riding it. If you have tried it What were your thoughts?
They're still a brand?
Haha they haven’t officially called it quits have they
?
Should I be worried Colorado skii is my hometown shop to buy snowboard gear from? 🤣
You like supporting Vail?
Avran- currently ride a 160 wide Ray gun, and a 151 spring break slush Slasher, K2 maysis boots, Union force bindings. If I wanted to progress with my riding to get more aggressive with my turns and carves what camber profile should I look at? 62, 200 lb, ride mostly hard pack since I'm East Coast
Definitely something camber dominant. Or at the very least some form of Camrocker.
@@AngrySnowboarder something like the capita warp speed, or Niche story? Or are those too stiff for somebody who's a progressing intermediate
Warpspeed will probably kill you, that board is designed for those 300lb wild hogs. Story might work. I'd say something like the Jones Flagship might be an option, maybe the Yes Optimistic but if that looks like too much board The Y by Yes would be another contender. Ride Super pig should be on there as well.
@@AngrySnowboarder truly appreciate your input, I have looked at the Super Pig, rode a friends war pig last year, the new camber might make it interesting. Most of the Jones stuff is hard for me, because I need it to work with a size 11 boot. Keep up the great work, we all appreciate it
Hey man... I jus up graded... from my old asF k2 spitfire wide 154,, to the Launch natural 159 .. the k2 used to be more camber but with my fat ass I've flattened it out over the many years... I believe the natural is a hyper camber.... ? Have any advice.. thanx... I've learned alot from you guys! Have a safe summer
I've been riding since the early 90s but rode my first ever full rocker board this year for the first time (borrowed) . It was like I had a piece of wet spaghetti strapped to my feet. Not for me. I'm too set in my old man ways!
GIVE ME ALL THE CAMBER!
Can you even make a board with the skate banana profile ride well?
Oh yeah.
I have all shapes in my quiver. I ride the cam rock the most.
Who’s making camber 2.0? What models are known for camber 2.0?
Watch the reviews see what we say during the camber section after the intro.
Is the IPP Honalee the best traditional old school camber profile on the market?
It's solid that's for sure.
Take a drink every time they say the word: Camber
S Rocker - salomon super 8?
How many snowboards does Kevin have?
The world is not ready for that question.
I'm a collector, no your a hoarder 😂😂😂😂😂😂
21:17 "[..]there's a graphic for anyone out there" no, for all my live I've never found a graphic that I like :) There's worst, most of them I really don't like, so I would have to use some...black..."sticker paper"...to cover the whole board :D
3m outdoor vinyl, you can get a sheet big enough for a board for about 10 bucks at most sign shops.
Yes. I'm using it :)
Jones has some pretty good graphics
Thought CamRocker = Camber 2.0... can u give us some examples?
Camrocker is camrocker. Camber 2.0 refers to the reinvention of camber where in instead of a full arc from contact point to contact point it's chopped down in the center where the arc is making it more flat and easier to load. A prime example of this would be the Lago Double Barrel.
Thanks, Avran!
What is the purest camber board out there?
I think these people are suggesting we should strap both our feet to the same ski :O
Most hated camber profile ever.. and go!
Once rode a full center reverse camber that was obscenely reverse and it only had a radial sidecut. There was nothing for it to grip and your effective edge was essentially 10cm's between the feet. That was a fucking saucer sled.
Traditional camber 10 years ago - new shit that sucks is still better than that
@@SamSchmidt90 Fuck that, rocker from 10 years ago was just way worse. The first generation of banana rocker was horrible, they turned like a donkey on roller skates. At least camber had bite.
@@barrykennedy8507 yeah I guess I only rode camber at the time. Just thinking about how the camber boards were either off or on. Charge or get charged.
Reddit r/snowboarding leaking into the vids. Lololol
Oh god don't let those people anywhere near here.
