You bet me in the comments today 😂😂😂
Send recruiter to Texas border and get new truck drivers
Thanks for the offer but I gave up driving after 44 years this passed April .you take care and as always watch out for the other drivers
@@TurdFerguson-ez8yq 👍🥰Happy Retirement!
Drove for CCC before good company to work for. I’m retired now. Be safe out there and try to have fun. I know it’s not like it use to be. 🚚🚛
I delivered three loads to NYC, the roads are meant for a horse an buggy, not a tractor with a 53’ trailer. On my third and last load there I have come to the conclusion “to hell with NYC and any surrounding areas.” I don’t care if the load is paying 20k, I am not going anywhere near that area.
Great job, I know you got stressed out. But hey, you did it.👍👍
👍👍👍
Fun part of trucking..you finally get backed in...finally get unloaded..not a lot of time left now where the heck do you go !!!!!
If you drove a 53' trailer through NYC local streets, you probably violated the law. The only time you can drive a 53' trailer is if you are going to JFK airport, or passing through to Long Island. All other loads must be broken down into shorter trailers before entering NYC.
That's exactly why I never go to that crap hole again. Avoided it for nearly 20 years!
For those about to dock, we salute you!
😆😆😆👍
Best comment ever , this is so relatable for so many drivers... They really stretch that Specialized Carrier thing lmao
"Gladiator"? lol
I did that for fifty years and like you said, add it to your 'decline' list, no need to go through that with these stupid companies !!!
Agree. Fkn New Yorkers
👍👍👍
Wow! 50 years!?!? Hats off to you sir!
I respect you so much for being a trucker for so long, I always thought that driving In crazy traffic was the hardest part until my son started driving a semi, then I realize that dealing with the shippers and receivers was a worst headache at times. Thank you for your dedication for all those years keeping us supplied with everything you have transported. You are so appreciated and GOD BLESS YOU ❤
Like a boss. Calm under pressure. That man on the side telling you to go around again and go blind side. Tell him “YOU WANNA DRIVE?!” 😂
👍👍👍😆
Exactly, like wth? You couldn't pay me enough money to go into NYC, not the way they drive up there. Just going through on I 95 is stressful enough.
Way to stay with it, Kevin. Company needs to make notes on this location, to much liability at this place for a rig of your size. Great job!!!
👍👍👍
Crete, should have had a day cab deliver this load into NYC.
@@jeffreymartin89 any chance of that is gone with Kevin showing the company how easy it is to deliver there now.
@@thetexastrucker7934 actually yes, with a day cab,you would have more room to maneuver around, day cabs have less wheel base. Sleeper births have about a 238 inch wheel base, a day cab is a lot shorter. Easier to manage.
The question is does Crete have a terminal in the NYC area with daycabs? Or a frieght forwarding company in the area who is under contract and insured to take the trailer into the customer?
A day in the life. As long as you didn’t hit anything or hurt anyone it’s all good. I’ve been driving over 20 years and some days I can’t back it up, it’s still fun though.
👍👍👍😆
That company needs a forklift to come get their delivery off your truck in the street. Screw all that backing up.
Correct.....HOOK, CHAIN, AND FORK LIFT!
100% maybe a daycab, MAYBE.. Sleeper is a nightmare
Could imagine how it is when there is built up snow on the ground
This is what a box truck is for.
Definitely a daycab but sleepers can do it. 1st time it’s a pain in the as$ But it gets better if you had to do this everyday. It’s kind of funny you talk to drivers in NY or NJ they will they will never drive in CALIFORNIA and from the west will say they will never drive in NY or NJ. Kevin you did a excellent job and excellent help from your spotters. GOAL excellent job.
Main thing is you keep your cool and nothing was hit and all is safe.nice job….
You have to be, or have been an OTR Driver and have delivered to NYC to know and appreciate the patience of this man!🥵
Wow...I was a nervous wreck this entire video. I know exactly how Kevin felt getting this delivery!! Great job, well done!!! :)
What happend to your kw
Thanks!!!
Excellent job! Keeping your cool under stressful conditions. Yes, many drivers turn down preplan to NYC. Accident waiting to happen. You have an incredible support person with you. Thumbs up to her.
Awwww…Thanks!! With love from the support person. 🤗
There are places in most cities with docks like this...actually worse
In NYC and many other places on the dirty side, you have to refuse to get excited. Let everyone else get excited if they insist, but if you let them get you excited, you're likely to make a costly mistake. Good job Kevin!
@@gary4507 Wise words!!! Thanks!
Wow. Crete need to off load for this site into smaller trucks and charge accordingly. Well done Kev
😃👍🤩
Yes, that's what the law requires. It's illegal for 53' trailers to be on local streets in NYC. The load should have been broken up into shorter trailers before entering NYC.
@@cyclopsvision6370 so Why was it Not?
@@efil4kizum Probably because somebody wanted to save money. It's possible the shipper was charged for the time and resources to break down the 53 foot trailer load, and decided to pocket the extra money, and just tell the driver to go ahead and deliver the load as is.
@@cyclopsvision6370 I read more comments on this and it looks like this delivery spot is NOT within the NYC limits?
“What’s the matter driver? We get semis in here all time.”
😆😆😆Yeah…usually doubles. 😂🤣😂
You can sense the stress Kevin was having. Good thing you were there to guide him.
🙏😃🤩
Prayers. 😆
That was some real good backing skills. That looked like a nightmare.
😆😆😆Thanks!
I’ve been there several times myself to Hauppage, Long Island City and Deer Park over the years and we received $100 bonus plus slight bump in mileage pay ….. but THE STRESS takes years off your life at times. You both made good choices and handled it very well !
Thank you!! That stress and getting so close to hitting stationary objects doesn’t make it worth it. 🤦♀️
HOLY CRAP!! I got stressed out just watching that! Just found your channel. I'm not a trucker, just interested in seeing what y'all do. Binge watching from the point that you got the 2024 KW. Excellent commentary, your content is really interesting.
Awwww….thanks! Welcome aboard! Happy you are enjoying our content!
Way to go Kevin. The stress levels was high but you kept going. Great job.
Thanks! 😃🤩
When I watched this video it reminded me of bad days, Kevin I will say you are a professional and your company should be proud of having a professional driver like you Kevin. Your attitude throughout this whole ordeal was absolutely amazing and your wife Tonya was great, some wives can’t stop giving advice Tonya was great. You need a raise 😊keep up the great work. God Bless you both and your families.
Wow!!!! We really appreciate your very very kind words!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!!
I've had quite of few of those scenarios in 12 years at Crete, good job.
Thank you!!!! And…oh no!!!! We’re hoping they’re weeding out these kind of places! 🤦♀️
Well done driver, the amount of stress and anxiety that begins to build with every pull up, only a driver & his partner would understand 😂
👍👍👍👍🤩
Thankfully there was people out there spotting you or it would have been an even worse nightmare. Good job..I know it was so stressful.
👍🙏🤗
Thank you for making a video like this. It shows people how hard our job can be. Literally shows how impatient some drivers are when it comes to trucks as well. Great video!
Good job Kev…. Been there myself. Had to deliver a load of cabbage to a oriental restaurant supply in Brooklyn. They had NO dock. He asked where he was supposed to park the truck, they said the straight truck just parks on the sidewalk 😮 so I proceed to maneuver around parked cars and fire hydrant and building awnings, street traffic and park it right where they said to put it. Cop said he never seen anybody do that before. Then I had to help unload bc the dock people were gone. The owner wanted me to come back next day to deliver and I told No…. This is my scheduled time and we’re delivering it. If I leave they will have to reschedule bc I wasn’t coming back. Haven’t been back to NYC since
😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
Looks like some of the OLD Mon & Pop grocery stores I had to back into with my first company (48' reefers and tandems locked to the rear). We had no auto trans, or power steering in those days either. Regardless of pull-ups, getting a trailer to a dock is the goal. You done GOOD!
Thanks!!! 😃
No power steering, no A/C, no power mirrors and grocery receivers that didn’t like their job!
@@Dave-py6rw Doesn’t sound pleasant. 😔
Time for a beer when you finally get out of this mess. Excellent driving. Good Morning from Anchorage Alaska

Next week Kevin and Tonya deliver 3 stops to Chicago! With 2 pickups in Detroit, Michigan. Stay tuned!

Reminds me of tight spots I go to in downtown Atlanta. No reason a big truck should be in these areas. I started going at 5am before traffic hits. All about setup and I knew you’d get it done good job driver

What happened to your kenworth 2024 T680?
@@josuevelazquez-md4vi This is an older video. KW is alive and well. 😉
Very good that you had a good luck in New York city😊
They should have a drop lot outside of NY or most of the east coast for big trucks to drop there loads and box trucks take to customer.
👍👍👍
15:40 I wanted to back it in for him 😊
Yes please. 😆😆😆
Box truck territory. My brother-in-law delivered boxes for Carolina Container with a 53' trailer for many years. His dispatcher apparently did not own a map and would send people on dumb routes including winding mountain roads and back roads not wide enough for couple horses to pass. Usually with only one or two pallets. Then they would have to run back to the shop and get another load.
😳😳😳😳😳😳😳
Absolutely handled that like a man, good stuff
This was stressful just watching this train-wreck. I pray that you were able to get out without hitting anything.
Yes! Thank you!
That's was great driving as a truck driver from Nyc your 100 percent right that's no neighborhood for a 53 footer more like a 24 foot truck
Thank you!!!! 🤩👍
Because 53' trailers are illegal on local streets in NYC. You can bring a 53' trailer through NYC if you stay on designated roads going to JFK airport or Long Island.
I hate how some intersections allow vehicles to park that close to the edge. For this reason. Good job in the turn though. I love watching these tight turn videos. It’s a skill I do great at, but it seems rare because of a lot of new drivers they do not know their truck, clearances, and have no confidence and these are the ones who would have had to do that first turn in my maneuvers haha but you did great. Fun to watch.
I’m all for the more difficult, the more challenging the more I love it haha.
Oh…hello…😆😆😆Was just chatting with you underneath the other video. 😆😆Glad you enjoyed this video too!
YOU DID THAT SHIIIII MAN!!! YOU GO DRIVER!!!
This is exactly why I do not run in the northeast, I was stressed for ya ! ☹️

This is why the TEAMSTERS use pup trailers.

now thats called shunting well done Kevin and keeping your patience hats off to you 2.👍👍
Thanks! 👍
Bless you brother for staying in the calm zone - hell of an awkward angle on that whole dock. The best part about those is when you get the paperwork to get the hell out : ) Happy Trails
Wow o wow 😮😮 what ever your company is paying you they should give you a raise
😆😆😆👍🤩
The hell with Blind Siding in!!Blind Side in my book is a last resort.
👍
Not necessarily, he would have probably been better off if he just listened to them and blindsided it. They deal with trucks coming in everyday so they know what they are talking about, the docks looked like they were slanted at a weird angle which is why he struggled so hard because he had to back in at such an awkward and angle with not much room to work with.
Wow! New York City?! Mad respect to you. They say that attitude is everything. Yours is inspiring. Watching YOUR day out on the road made mine seem less stressful. Lol. Keep up the good work. And stay safe. 🙏🏻👊🏻
Lol was thinking about applying to Crete but you just made me reconsider.
😆Actually you can feel more confident about Crete. After they saw this video they called Kevin and told him that no driver should be put in that kind of situation and that they would be making changes. We don’t know what the changes are, but we think it’s another sign how they care for their drivers. And in over two years that was the only time he had a load to NYC with Crete.
We think it’s a great, stable company. It’s still trucking, of course, so nothings perfect, but we are very happy here. You can check out their website for details. And let us know if you have any questions we can help with. Who do you drive for now?
Kevin is a great driver
Thank you!
@@TheJoyofTrucking ur welcome
Good job Kevin. Been dealing with that nightmare city since 1988. People still parking cars where they are not supposed to. I’ve been to that place Many times I see it’s still a crap hole to get into
Wow!!! That’s a long time to deal with NYC driving conditions! Hats off to your stamina! And how fun to ‘meet’ someone else who has been there!! Keep safe out there and thanks for watching!
trucking = to boldly go where nobody wants to go lol Good job !

Gotta say: Awesome driving! I was nervous just watching this presentation. Nice job!! 🤙
Those are the same pedestrians I deal with everyday. You just get set up and, bam they just appear.
I do ltl deliveries in a 53' liftgate in downtown Tulsa between narrow alleys, roads built for model T's, the homeless, and now droves of tourists. I understand how you felt.
😳👍🙏
Geezerguy, I’m from Tulsa.
If that company is going to have 53’ trailers coming in. They should have a little yard truck that can maneuver around better, and have a driver who dose that dock all day every day. My bp went up just watching
I would have done the same thing 😂
No
👍😆😃🤩
Love your stuff!
Glad to hear it!
Best episode ever
👍👍👍😃😃😆🤩
I was stressing out with you guys. I dont blame him for saying never again.
😆👍🤩
That company needs a line painted on the ground to assist in backing in, it helps with tight spots having a place to line trailer tires up, and way too many chiefs directing 1 and only 1 should be guiding driver
👍👍👍
Impressive. Nerves of steel. That is definitely never ever again. Great spotters.

Thanks for sharing. It helps to know that I'm not the only one who has to deal with this.
You are so welcome! YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!! Definitely one of the reasons we do the channel and keep it real!!!
We should not be taking 53's in there. I would have probably grabbed that phone and thrown it into oncoming traffic. This is stressing me out just watching this. Good job Kevin!
😆😆😆👍
It's not the situation, it's the Freightliner hazards. They do that to you.

I see the yellow line to Kevin’s left into the dock, idk why he was overturning way too much when it was there to guide him. Unless I’m seeing something else.
One tip another CZcams trucker @AlexNino gives, and I think it actually works, is small movements, not over do it on the steering wheel. Otherwise you end up doing what Kevin was doing. Glad it all worked out, that’s what matters. 👍🏼
Thanks! He was trying not to end up too far to the left so he’d be able to make a left turn when leaving. Then it turned out taking a right was a better way to leave. 🤦♀️
@@TheJoyofTrucking ahhh that makes better sense why was doing what he was trying to do. I didn’t see the end game 😅😅

This is footage from March. KW is fine and still our current truck.
They definitely need to have a smaller truck to deliver to them. You are definitely one great driver. That place should be straight truck delivery only.

Damn! That'll make a man outta ya! Absolutely absurd that a road truck is delivering there. Like Kevin said, a last mile truck, or 4, should be doin this delivery. Ridiculous. Great job, Brother Kevin! That's not easy. As always, y'all, travel safely...👍🏼❤️
Seriously? It wasn't even that bad. It's just because he hadn't been there before.
Blindside would have been easier but maybe you can't get there that way.
🤗👍😃
And those arc nemesis wires are low. If a tractor came in with those super high wind deflectors, that could cause more trouble! That load should have been on a double trailer so you can drop either, deliver and then hook up again. Nice teamwork!! 😊

Kudos to you, brother. Patience is key. Non-truckers have no idea how difficult and stressful doing this is. I drove truck for about 3 years and developed blood clots in my right leg. Had to quit. I wish you all the best, sir.
