I started with a trimmer too. For the first 3 years of my business I did all of my edging with a string trimmer. The edger is faster and dumby proof. Over the course of a whole day it can save a lot of time.
It also depends for me. If there is only a little bit of trimming to do I will just use the trimmer, but if there is sidewalks and driveway on a corner lot I will use the edger. It is faster. I have timed it. 😉
Yeah, I am always worried about shooting rocks when I'm edging with a trimmer. I have never taken out a window, but it is always in the back of my mind.
I use the edger once a month and the string trimmer to keep it pretty in between. It really is a matter of personal preference once your edges are already established imo.

The real question here is, while owning a string trimmer, is there a need to purchase an edger if they both can achieve the same job? Bear in mind that the 5 seconds saved each fortnight will take about 3 years to make back after spending 7 minutes to watch this video!
If I’m wrong I don’t want to be right. Having that stupid bar in the way of my hand wasn’t working for me so I flipped it. I like it allot better now. You should try it. All the cool kids are doing it.
String trimmer is always the best way to go, I don't have a client that wants a edger , they all want a string trimmer edge!
Nice demo! I like the string trimmer, because that's what I started with and used for years. The edger looks better and is a little faster 💯✂️

I use both. Just depends on the moods

I use both but what I like about my edger is that I know it doesn’t kick up rocks or anything

Can you use an edger with a curvy plastic landscaping edge ?
No, you will end up cutting the plastic to pieces.
Which would be easier for a senior with back issues?
The edger for sure.

Where you will lose time is going back to the truck to grab the weed eater to trim out the rest of the property
That is true, but one could also lose time by flinging a rock and busting out a window.
Now do a comparison with a slab 4 inches above the grass
I don’t have any properties on my service list with a slab that is 4 inches higher than the grass.
How many linear feet did you edge tho?

String trimmer doesn't get the roots for overgrowth...
Got faster now vs 3 years ago by like 10% wow
Darwins grip is on the trimmer wrong FYI and edger all the way !!!
